Available to the public since the end of 2022, the ChatGPT — artificial intelligence created by OpenAI — has gained usefulness in the field of studies: teachers already use it to create exercises, it is possible to request summaries on complex subjects and much more.
But the idea of Victor Volpe Fogolin went a little further: currently a notary at the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás, he used the ChatGPT to study for competitive exams and passed five tests, including 1st place in the oral exams in Santa Catarina, Goiás and Tocantins. See more about the case right now.
The 6 ways AI has been used
Oral exam simulator
Approved in three competitions (Santa Catarina, Goiás and Tocantins) in first place, Victor he sent summaries to ChatGPT and asked the tool, after analyzing what he had written, to ask questions about the subject in a possible oral exam. He then decided to turn the OpenAI tool into an oral exam examiner:
I copied my summaries and played them for him. It wrote: 'ChatGPT, learn this'. He sent the answer, said 'learned' and everything. Then I continued: 'Now consider that you are an oral exam examiner from the state of São Paulo, what questions would you ask about this subject you just learned?'

To predict possible questions asked by experts, Victor he also sent the CVs of the panel members and asked for questions to be created based on the subjects in which the person is an expert. He explains that this helped him prepare for the questions asked during the oral exam. The competition notice was also sent so that the ChatGPT use the information as a basis.
Then, I would throw the information into ChatGPT and ask: 'Based on this CV, which topics do you think are most relevant to this examiner?

The use of the OpenAI tool was also essential so that he knew how to answer questions from different points of view, a factor evaluated in the oral exams. He also mentions that it is important to send the right commands to receive guidance from the robot.
There are issues in law that have controversy, different opinions. And, for an oral exam, it's really cool that we cite strong authors. This is a slightly difficult search because you have to pull each person's work to see the position they defend, but the ChatGPT database already knows all of this. So I wrote: 'ChatGPT, please consider this controversial issue. I want you to name three scholars who defend position 1 and three who defend position 2′.

Objective question simulator

As it is basically artificial intelligence that creates content according to users' requests, Victor used this functionality to have the AI create questions based on existing articles and laws. He asked that the tool of OpenAI sent questions with four alternatives and bluntly. See the command:
ChatGPT, you will be an examining member of the public notary exam board. Based on my notes and such articles of the Civil Code, formulate test questions with 4 alternatives.
Then, he studied according to the questions sent as a form of simulation for the tests he had signed up to participate in. In this case, just the content generation power of ChatGPT for studies.
Article search engine

It is a fact that searching for content on the internet can take time and, in this case, it was the only time that Victor used only the power of ChatGPT to study. He requested articles and websites as references and the tool sent links after doing extensive research on the internet, saving time. Check out the command below:
ChatGPT, I want to read a scientific article about this. Name five important articles.

He explains that this saves a lot of time and that, if you don't send links to the articles, the names already help save time in your study routine: “It's something that would take me several hours on Google to filter, but it already sent cool articles , the most accessed, by relevance”, adds Victor.
Simplifying complex topics

Exams for notary public exams involve the use of words that can take hours to understand, so Victor also took advantage of ChatGPT's great knowledge so that everything was explained in simpler terms. It's a simple command, but few people use it:
In law, there are terms that no one understands, not even those who have studied for years. So, I would throw the sentence to ChatGPT and ask: 'Explain this in simple words, for a layman'.

Summary of legal cases

Preparing for competitions involves reading large cases, these lasting more than 100 or 200 pages each. When using AVpaid version of ChatGPT, Victor sent the files and requested that, after reading them completely, the tool would send simple summaries of the entire content.
You can upload the PDF in the paid version, with several pages. So, I would send the case on ChatGPT and ask: 'Summarize this text with the main points, or focusing on arguments for oral evidence', for example.

Creative text for writing
Finally, Victor also asked the ChatGPT created creative introductions for essays, as a way to catch the reviewer's attention from the first lines. He sent the summaries he had created and asked the tool to use his notes as a basis to create the essays.
If we start the essay in a very impressive way, with a very good first paragraph, it will shine and attract the examiner's attention. Therefore, I asked: 'ChatGPT, develop an introduction that draws a lot of attention to the history of registry offices, land regularization, etc.'.
He explains that the main objective was not to memorize the texts sent by the robot to deliver an essay, but rather to learn new words and ways of creating essays based on subjects that would possibly be covered in the tests.
Is it reliable to use ChatGPT to study?

Discussions on this subject have mixed conclusions, but teachers tell students to be very careful when using the OpenAI tool in their studies. It is important to check everything sent by the robot so that the result is not compromised.
One tip is to use Victor's technique: first, try to teach the ChatGPT about the subject and only then request help on the subject. This can be done by sending summaries, notes and other data that contribute to a better understanding of the robot.
You can also request that the ChatGPT create study plans on subjects you want to learn more about, as well as asking for cards with questions and answers to be created for better learning with the support of the tool. OpenAI.
