go to the Japan? Here's a little advice: if you're afraid of "humanoid robots“, it is good to think twice before visiting the hotel Henn-at em Nagasaki. The establishment, which already has its opening scheduled for July this year, starts with great news regarding the hiring of its service team.

The “high-tech hotel” plans to employ 10 robots, three of which will be polyglot humanoids dispatched directly from uncanny Valley (where they were made). Kokoro, the maker of the robots, dubbed them “actroids" or "robot actors”. Coupled behind the counters, right at the entrance, they will be responsible for check-in, working as receptionists. These employees are able to understand what is being said to them, as well as react to customers' bodily expressions.

Then, other robots will be responsible for receiving and transporting visitors' luggage to their rooms. The list of machines only grows. Tasks like making coffee, cleaning rooms, and taking care of customers' clothes will also be performed by other types of robots.

Facial recognition technology is used by most of these cyber employees in order to recognize and better adapt to the tastes of each visitor, never forgetting to maintain eye contact.

The "Henn-at” (Henn means “strange” or “change”) will also use solar energy and implement other methods of reducing electricity consumption in order to keep tariffs always at low prices.

Located inside the theme park Huis ten BoschOn Nagasaki, the hotel has only 72 rooms in its two-story structure. For 2016, 72 more rooms will be built, where the adoption of a few more robotic employees is also expected.
