How to use Secure Cell Phone to protect your cell phone (and block it in case of theft)

Launched in 2024, the app Safe cell phone of the Federal Government, available for cell phones Android and iPhone (iOS), promises to help block any cell phone in up to 10 minutes, preventing stolen data from being accessed, including that of apps of banks. See how to use it:

How works

O Safe cell phone It is an application that works based on registration, requiring access to the web platform or download apps to Android e iPhone (iOS). With it activated, if a citizen has their cell phone stolen, stolen or lost, they will be able to access the platform to register the incident and request the device to be blocked.

With blocking, the cell phone will not be able to connect to the company's mobile networks. Claro, Vivo, TIM, Hi, Sercomtel, Datora Telecom, Emnify Brasil, Surf Telecom ou Algar Telecom (or any other Brazilian telephone operator), and you will also lose access to banking apps and essential services.

There is also the possibility of registering reliable person in the application, which also allows the user to register the incident and block the cell phone in the name of the person who was robbed, thus allowing for faster preventive action.

Celular Seguro has the support of the main national banks, including here Banco do Brasil, Banco Inter, Banco Pan, Banco Safra, Bradesco, BTG Pactual, Caixa, Itaú, Santander, Sicoob, Sicredi and XP Investimentos.

How to register your cell phone and telephone number (Android or iPhone)

To use the Safe cell phone and register your cell phone and telephone number, the following steps are necessary:

Step 1: Download the application at App Store ou na Google Play (Android) or visit the website Safe cell phone. First, we will go through the entire phone registration process via the app and then we will access the website to show you how to issue an alert;

Step 2: Log in using your account gov.br (the user must enter the CPF and password);

Step 3: When entering the application, the user must agree to the use of personal data. Normally all services connected with the account gov.br have this data usage notice;

Step 4: On the application’s home screen, choose the “Register Phone” option;

Step 5: Before registering, read the terms of use by scrolling to the end of the page and confirming the statement;

Step 6: Back in the “Register Phone” option, enter the phone number (and confirm), select the operator, the brand and also select the trusted person from the list of options available in your application. Below we will detail what the “trusted person” is and how you can register them in the service;

How to register trusted people

In-app Safe cell phone, a “trusted person” is nothing more than a contact that the user registers to act on their behalf, in case the cell phone is stolen, robbed or lost. This person can register an occurrence in the owner’s place, triggering the blocking of the device and other associated services.

To register a trusted person, simply choose the “Trusted People” option on the application’s home screen and enter the name, CPF, telephone number and email of your trusted contact so that they can be registered in the system.

How to report the incident and request a block (Theft Alert)

After the registration of the cell phone and the trusted person has been successfully completed, if the user has their phone stolen, the user or the trusted person must register an occurrence in the application, or in website through the “Issue Alert” option.

On the next screen you will see your registered phones and just click on the yellow icon to issue the alert and fill in the following data to make the device blocking request effective:

• Date;
• Type of situation (Robbery, Theft, Loss or Others);
• Hour;
• City;
• State;

At the end of the report, a protocol will be generated for the user to monitor the progress of the device blocking process with the banking institutions and operators registered in the program.
