This Tuesday (20) the Instagram received an update that allows users to make purchases directly through the app. From now on, the profile of stores, for example, can put the price of products and other information, as well as links that lead to the pages of the stores, where the customer can register and complete the purchase.
Obviously, the new function targets commercial profiles, such as clothing, furniture, electronics and other products stores. The functionality went through a period of testing in Brazil, but only with two stores, NAMA and AMARO. The first specializes in decorative objects made in 3D printers and the second is a women's fashion store.
In addition to Brazil, Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom also participated in the tests and today receive the new functionality in the Instagram.
The purpose of the photo social network is for business profiles to also function as storefronts. Stores already post photos of the products on their profiles, now the Instagram wants to take advantage of this to improve commercial profiles, thus increasing its revenue.
When browsing a store's profile, a shopping bag in the upper right corner of the thumbnail will indicate that that product contains more information. By touching the photo, you can see the price. With one more touch, more information appears on the screen, including other products.
By tapping on “Buy now”, the user is then redirected to the brand's own store, where they can complete the registration and purchase. It is important to point out that the Instagram earns no commission on sales and therefore bears no responsibility for them.
According to Instagram, any commercial profile is already able to make use of the purchase option. Just create nine posts using the format for the “Shopping” tab to be activated. The new function can be used for both individual photos and galleries.
