New to Instagram eliminates the need to use third-party apps to repost photos in the main feed. Feature is in testing and should be released soon

O Instagram is preparing another novelty for users of the social network: the possibility of reposting content from other users on their profiles. The tool should reach public testing soon, according to information released by a spokesperson for the Meta.

How the new Instagram function will work

The news of Instagram were discovered by social media enthusiast Matt Navarra and ascertained by the website Techcrunch, who spoke with a representative of the Meta to learn more about implementations. According to information obtained by the portal, the content repost function will start to be tested by selected users soon.

Basically, it will work similarly to sharing posts from social network profiles to Stories, but in the feed – and in the users' profile, a new tab only for this type of content will be available, showing all the content answered by the users.

From the description, the situation seems to refer a lot to the RTs of Twitter – which, in a way, is also the basis for reposting content on the Stories or even sharing other social networks, such as Facebook or the Tumblr

In addition to being another way of distributing content, the Meta, For Techcrunch, also stated that the novelty will be a way for the creators of the posts to be credited more often - potentially reducing the “theft” of content, popularly called on the Brazilian internet “kibe".

Anyway, for now there is no way to know if the function will actually be implemented in the Instagram system or, in the end, it will become just another example of a test that did not go ahead – confirmation will only occur in the future.

TikTok also tests similar tool

Adding fuel to the rivalry between Instagram and the TikTok, a similar tool is being tested by the short video network – albeit with slightly different functionality.

No TikTok, a button of “repost” is being tested, which also distributes a post from a third party through the feed of the user using the function – the difference is that there will not be a specific part in the profiles that will compile this type of post, with it only being distributed in the “For you", the platform feed that uses an algorithm to customize experiences.
