directly from Tel Aviv, in Israel, the Intel officialized its new line of 13th generation processors, which took the codename raptor lake. With options for PCs and notebooks, the company emphasizes that the Intel Core i9-13900K is the “world's most powerful desktop processor”.
Check out all the details about development, socket compatibility and more information about the line of CPUs coming to market in 2022. Intel invited the showmetech to travel to Israel to show details about the new processors and visit the company's factories, such as Fab28.
Development
A Intel it took 3 years to carry out the development of the new processors raptor lake and so users don't have to buy new motherboards, the company has kept the same socket of family processors Alder lake, LGA 1700.
In addition, the family's 10 nanometer architecture Alder lake has been kept so that desktop users can upgrade to 600-series chipset motherboards or new 700-series chipset motherboards (for Z790 motherboards).

For those who like to analyze numbers and special elements, Intel's new line of processors will have variations of CPUs with up to 24 processing cores for efficiency (E-Cores) and performance (P-Cores), ranging from the base model Core i5-13600K, passing through Core i7-13700K until the mighty Core i9-13900K.
Previous leaks had confirmed that, in terms of power consumption, the most powerful model has a base power cap of 125 watts at PL1, but goes up to 253 when it's hitting its max power. O Unlimited Power Mode will allow the CPU to consume 350 watts of power to deliver high performance to its users.
performance in games
With the updated architecture to achieve 6GHz / 8GHz, there is no denying that the new line of processors will have a great performance for those who like to have fun with heavier games.

A Intel highlighted at its launch event that the i9-13900K has “the best performance in games, also representing a gain in content creation and maximum overclock".
Compared to the i9-12900K, the company recalls that there was a performance gain of 15% in simpler tasks (the so-called single-threaded) and 41% gain from more complex tasks (multi-threaded). Gain in games is highlighted: the most powerful model in the family raptor lake manages to deliver a 24% performance gain and another 34% higher performance in video creation and editing.
Intel would not fail to make comparisons with AMD processor models to prove that its new processors are indeed more powerful. During the presentation event of the 13th generation models, a comparison was presented with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and playing games like Spider-Man e arcadegeddon, the performance improvement reached 58%.
Another task shown in practice during the event was the consistency of frames: Core i9-13900K achieved an improvement of 99% and in relation to the model of AMD, it was possible to reach 58% in the reproduction of the Spider-Man and 107% in the The riftbreaker.
Live broadcasts on Twitch were displayed with the support of the new processor and in gameplay and performance tests, there were no lags or drops in frame rate that left the viewer's experience with a lower quality. In other words: the model is ideal for those who need a more powerful processor that knows how to perform good image processing and transmission.
Content creation
With an eye on people looking for processors to work on content creation and according to information from spokespeople, Intel emphasizes that the performance gain in the Photoshop is 27% compared to Core i9-12900K.
Those who create games were not left out: according to the Intel, performance delivery is 35% over the previous generation when programs Blender + Unreal Engine are being played. The company expects new games to be created with the 13th generation of processors.
Support for DDR5-5600
During an event held at China in July 2022, the Intel had indirectly confirmed that its new generation of processors would support RAM of the type DDR5-5600. Now, with the official launch, the company confirms that yes, this support is true and DDR4 type RAM memories will also work normally with the new processors presented.
The big difference is in the data processing speed of applications for tasks of all kinds. line models raptor lake able to work natively with memory models that reach speed of 5600MHz, a difference of about 800MHz from the 12th generation (up to 4800MHz compatible) as the Alder Lake models were released with support for DDR4-3800MHz.
Processors raptor lake they also continue to work with full quality when they are put to work with DDR5 models with a speed of 5200MHz.
Support for PCIe 5.0 and 4.0
A Intel took the opportunity to point out that its new line has 16 access bands with full support for PCIe 5.0. That's double what the previous generation offers and support for another 10 PCIe 4.0 bands is also confirmed.
For those using Z790-type motherboards, it will be possible to add eight additional PCIe 4.0 lanes, increased USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps) ports and better DMI Gen 4.0 for improved access to peripherals and networking.
Overclocking at Raptor Lake
In addition to confirming that 13th generation CPUs hit the market to deliver from 6GHz to 8GHz, the Intel recalled that the process of overclocking can be done automatically or manually, through the application Extreme Tuning Utility, also called Intel XTU.
The company hopes that gamers and other professionals who need high performance power will be able to reach the limit of processors without errors in the reproduction of applications or other factors that influence the final experience of use.
Intel Unison Platform
Finishing the news, this is the platform that will facilitate the integration between smartphones and PCs/notebooks. In practice, after a synchronization, it will be easier to view messages, make calls and transfer files. A similar feature called Link to Mobile is now available on Windows, but now the Intel has its own platform.

The company confirms that it will be possible to use the platform Unison on smartphones that run Android ou iOS and the novelty will be available when the Raptor Lake models are launched, introduced to the world in the last week of September 2022. We can only wait for more information.
Price and availability
The new processors will be sold in the US from October 20, 2022 and their prices have already been revealed:
- i9-13900K: US$ 589 (R$ 3.159 in direct conversion);
