What are Inter Wearables?
The bank's new family of wearable devices debuts with two products: the Inter Ring, a smart ring, and the Inter Wristband, a smart bracelet. The idea is to transform simple everyday accessories into an extension of the credit card, usable for contactless payments and, in the future, for access and authentication experiences.
In practice, the difference compared to smartwatches like the Galaxy Watch (Samsung) and the Apple Watch (Apple) and smart rings focused on health are what Inter's products are liabilitiesThey don't connect to the internet, don't display notifications, don't monitor heart rate, and don't need recharging. Their main function is to load an NFC credential linked to the customer's card within the Inter Super App ecosystem. Android e iPhone (iOS).
Second Rodrigo GouveiaAccording to Inter's Executive Director of Commerce and Ecosystems, the idea is to cater to situations where the user wants to go out with fewer items, such as for a run, an event, or a trip. "It's like carrying a card incorporated into an accessory worn on your hand or wrist," he stated.
How does contactless payment work?
The devices use NFC, acronym for Near Field Communication, short-range communication technology already used in digital cards and wallets. After initial activation on Inter Super AppThe customer links the wearable device to a card and can then bring the accessory close to a compatible payment terminal to complete the purchase.
The system functions independently of the mobile phone after setup. Purchases made with a physical card, virtual card, or wearable appear on a single bill, with the same limit and payment date. In the first phase, compatibility applies to... Inter credit cards issued in Brazil and for credit cards from Global Account of Brazilian residents.
Transactions use the network of Mastercard They follow the logic of contactless payments: purchases above the applicable limit may require a password. The transactions use tokenization and encryption, mechanisms that replace the actual card data with temporary credentials to reduce risks in contactless transactions.
Security: app-based locking and 3-factor authentication.
In case of loss or theft, the user can block the wearable directly through the Super App, without needing to block the main card. This separation is important because the accessory functions as an additional credential: if it is deactivated, the physical card and the virtual card may remain available, according to the customer's account rules.
Another point announced is three-factor authentication, called 3FAfor transactions via Pix that deviate from the user's usual behavior, such as higher values or transactions made in unusual locations. In a later stage, Inter states that the technology could also be extended to the redemption of investments.
In addition to payments, the accessories can act as a digital key in access systems compatible with MIFAREThis is a standard used in proximity cards and tags. It depends on technical compatibility and configuration by the system administrator, therefore it doesn't mean the wearable will automatically open any lock, turnstile, or door.

And what about InterWatch?
The bank also confirmed a line of watches, called Inter WatchHowever, the product will not debut alongside the ring and bracelet. It will be manufactured by Act and should hit the market at the end of 2026, probably before Black Friday.
For now, Inter has not detailed the specifications, operating system, price, or functions of the watch. Therefore, it is safest to treat it as a future addition to the bank's wearables strategy, and not as a direct competitor already confirmed for the Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, or other smartwatches focused on health and applications.
Why does this matter?
Inter's move reflects a trend among banks and fintechs to bring payments and authentication to increasingly discreet objects. For the consumer, the benefit is convenience: going for a run, attending an event, or making a quick purchase without relying on their cell phone. The caveat, however, is understanding that these accessories still depend on card security rules, contactless limits, password requirements for some purchases, and compatibility with external access systems.
The launch also reinforces the role of Super App as the control center for the experience. Activation, card linking, blocking, and future integrations with Pix, VIP lounges, hotels, car rentals, and events are handled through the app and partnerships that still need to be implemented on a case-by-case basis.
