iOS 16 and watchOS 9 arrive on September 12

During the reveal event of the iPhone 14, apple watch ultra e AirPods Pro, Apple confirmed the launch date of the iOS 16 and Watch 9: September 12, a few days before the start of the commercialization of the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8.

What's New in iOS 16

O iOS 16 will be released on September 12th for all iPhone compatible. In addition to the novelties already shown in July, during the WWCC, Apple also showed at the event the new system lock screen, now fully customizable.

Operating system users will have the freedom to choose which widgets will be used on the lock screen, as well as access to different Focus modes, a function introduced in the iOS 15 and which has now been expanded for easier use – including default settings already made for specific situations, such as study or sleep.

Still on the lock screen, another novelty present in the operating system is the photo shuffle, a function that will allow you to constantly change your device's wallpaper with images saved in the gallery, allowing for a different look at different times of the day. Furthermore, the novelty Suggested Photos will also make recommendations for photos that can be used for this purpose.

It is possible, for example, to choose notifications that people can be displayed on the lock screen, and the same can be done for apps as well. In addition, it is also possible to establish specific schedules for the device, allowing it to enter Focus mode at scheduled times.

Another novelty confirmed by the company for the work is the possibility to delete messages from iMessage after they are sent – ​​that's right, no more embarrassment, you can have control at any time of what to leave available in the chat or not. Communications editing will also be available.

Finally, exclusively for iPhone 14, iOS 16 will also bring compatibility with the DynamicIsland, a smart solution from Apple that integrates hardware and software to show notifications from the notch of the device – which kept the design of the 2021 model.

watchOS 9 also arrives in September

Besides the iOS 16, Apple also confirmed the release date of the Watch 9 for the same September 12. The new version of the operating system for Apple watches arrives a few days before the arrival of the Apple Watch Series 8, which comes with the with factory installed.

Also announced in WWDC, watchOS 9 has a number of new features, such as new watch faces. They are as follows:

• Lunar: depicts the relationship between the Gregorian calendar and the lunar calendar, used in many cultures, such as Chinese, Islamic and Hebrew;
• Playtime: Apple Watch-exclusive dynamic artwork created in collaboration with artist Joi Fulton;
• Metropolitan: Classic type-based watch face where the style changes as the digital crown of the watches is rotated;
• Astronomy: New star map and current cloud data.

O Watch 9 will also have new metrics for the app Workouts, which will feature stride length detection, as well as monitor how long your feet will be in contact with the ground and will also study heart rate zones.

A medication reminder function is also included in the system, allowing users to register medication and receive reminders whenever it is necessary to take them. Finally, exclusively in the new models of Apple Watch announced by Apple this Wednesday (7), the operating system, along with temperature gauges present in the new versions, will also be able to more accurately detect the menstrual cycle, in addition to issuing more specific alerts to users of possible anomalies that may signify health problems.

O Watch 9 will be available for the following Apple Watch:

• Apple Watch Series 4 or more recent;
• Apple Watch SE 1 and 2;
• apple watch ultra.

As we can see, the rumors that support for Apple Watch Series 3 (R$ 1.529 at Magazine Luiza) would come to an end in Watch 8 became true. As for the new items announced, both the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch Ultra will already be sold with the system installed.
