iOS 9.3: the main news

A Apple recently released the public beta of iOS 9.3, which already gives us a good overview of the new features that will come in the final version. The company, however, did not set a date for the update to reach all users. Check out what's new in the new version of the system below.

Night Shift

Some say that the Night Shift is the main novelty of iOS 9.3. The functionality turns the screen orange, reducing exposure to blue light. Some research indicates that this type of lighting has a negative impact on our sleep. In the smartphone settings, you can set a time for Night Shift to start working.

A novelty caused controversy, since the Mac OS has had the f.lux, a third-party developed software that does exactly the same thing. The creators were never able to get the iPhone app on the App Store and now the functionality has appeared as a native feature.

Notes with passwords

The app Notes can now be protected with Passwords or with the touch ID. To activate the functionality, just go to the Settings > Notes > Password Protection. Additionally, annotations can be sorted by date, edition, creation, or title.

New 3D Touch shortcuts

O Touch 3D has been added to more native apps such as Settings, Health and Compass. The Stocks app and App Store gained a search option. Each has unique shortcuts that lead straight to the desired option.

News with improved recommendations and new gestures

O news app gained small additions in this update. Recommendations based on what you read have been improved and added gestures to save, share, like or disapprove of articles, plus a landscape reading mode.

It is possible to save normal versions of Live Photos

It became easier to duplicate photos. The functionality is especially useful for transforming the live Photos in normal versions. Just select an image, hit the share icon and then select “Duplicate”.

You can view Wi-Fi usage data

The resource Wi-Fi assistance has also been improved. This function migrates your connection to the data plan every time the Wi-Fi gets weak, which generates a big internet plan consumption. From now on it will be possible to see how many MBs were used with the functionality active.

Sync to PDFs in iBooks

O iBooks only synced the progress of books purchased from the Apple Store, but is now able to store data for other types of files, including PDFs. The first time you open the app on iOS 9.3, a window will ask if you want to activate the feature.
