like the first SSD da Kingston released with the PCIe 5.0 interface, the brand wants to reach an audience that is willing to spend more in exchange for a good experience. The company mentions in the press release that, due to the new interface, the Kingston FURY Renegade G5 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 SSD significantly reduces file loading times, whether in games or when rendering high-resolution videos.

O PCIe 5.0 It is the fifth generation of the standard for connecting components such as SSDs and video cards, doubling the speed of the previous version. It reaches up to 128 GB/s in x16 slots, ideal for heavy tasks such as AI, big data and rendering. It is compatible with previous versions, but requires more cooling and is still expensive. For regular users, the gain may not justify the investment — but for professionals, it is a significant leap in performance.

With interface support NVMe 2.0 and M.2 2280 format, the Renegade G5 delivers up to 2.200.000 IOPS in random operations, ensuring exceptional performance for both gaming and demanding professional tasks.

The new Kingston SSD arrives to deliver reading speeds of up to 14.800/MBs and recording up to 14.000 MB / s in its 4TB version. Paulo Vizaco, Kingston Country Manager in Brazil, stated at the launch event that the model is aimed at those who need high performance, whether playing for several hours or working on videos for an entire day: “The G5 represents the ultimate in end-user performance. Our focus is to offer solutions that keep up with the evolution of platforms and allow you to extract maximum system performance.. "

Regarding dimensions, the model measures 80mm x 22mm x 2,3mm, and can be installed on both notebooks and desktops. The brand only indicates that it should be installed on machines with a more powerful processor and video cards, so that performance is not affected. The 1TB variant has 7,3 grams, while the versions of 2TB and 4TB weigh 7,8 grams.

Storage capacity

The new SSD da Kingston arrives in Brazil with three storage options: 1TB, 2TB and 4TB, for those who need more memory. During the launch event, it was stated that a variant with up to 8 TB will be released during the second half of 2025. But a specific date and possible read and write speeds were not disclosed at the time of writing.

Read and write speed

Another important detail is the high read and write speeds of the new SSD. Kingston claims that he can reach up to 14.800 MB / s to read files and even 14.000 MB / s to record in the 4TB version. Models with less storage come close to that. Check out the table with speed information per TB:

Capacity reading speed Write speed
1TBup to 14.200 MB/sup to 11.000 MB/s
2TBup to 14.700 MB/sup to 14.000 MB/s
4TBup to 14.800 MB/s up to 14.000 MB/s

O Kingston Fury Renegade G5 also impresses when it comes to performance in 4K random read and write, an essential metric for everyday tasks such as system startup, opening programs and heavy multitasking.

Equipped with memory 3D FTA NAND and controller SM2508, the model of 1024GB (1TB) reaches up to 2.200.200 random read IOPS and 2.150.000 random write IOPS. Now the versions of 2048GB (2TB) e 4096GB (4TB) offer even more balanced performance, with up to 2.200.000 IOPS in both random read and write.

Hardware and performance

One detail worth mentioning is that the SSD is equipped with the controller SiliconMotion SM2508 made in 6nm and TLC 3D NAND memories of 232 layers of Micron.

Energy consumption

The 1TB model of the FURY Renegade G5 SSD consumes up to 6,6 W at maximum use, while the 2 TB can reach 7,0 W. In idle mode, both present a consumption of just 0,27 W, demonstrating energy efficiency when not in intensive use.

To maintain optimal performance and prevent overheating, it is recommended to use suitable cooling solutions such as heat sinks or additional fans, especially in environments with limited space for heat dissipation.

Temperature

O Kingston Fury Renegade G5 operates at temperatures between 0 °C and 70 °C, this being the recommended range to ensure optimal performance and longevity. For storage, it supports temperatures of -40 °C to 85 °C, which is useful for transportation and long-term storage.

Compatibility

O Kingston FURY Renegade G5 SSD is compatible with the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and is also backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 (although with reduced performance). It uses the protocol NVMe 2.0, requiring NVMe support in the operating system and BIOS/UEFI.

Its format is M.2 2280 (22 mm wide by 80 mm long), with M-Key switching, which makes it ideal for desktops, notebooks and even consoles like the PlayStation 5 — as long as the system's M.2 slot is compatible and preferably has a suitable cooling solution.

Security and backup

In addition to having security solutions from Kingston that prevent hacker attacks, the company highlights its software that allows the blocking of files with release only via password. Another important detail is for the software Acronis True Image, implemented in the model since the first day of use: more than serving as an additional layer of security, it can make a backup copy of all files in order to avoid the loss of your data in the event of an attack or bug.

Lifetime

A Kingston confirms that your new SSD 1TB and more capacities have a five-year warranty in case of any problem. The company has a own call center for Brazil and all support can be done online, via email or chat.
