List shows the best and worst notebook manufacturers in 2018

So the website Laptop Mag ranked the top 10 notebook brands to find out which are the best and worst of 2018.

The Laptop Mag study was taken as follows: each brand is rated up to 100 points. In addition, there are five assessment categories: reviews (40 points), Design (15 points), warranty and technical support (20 points), innovation (10 points) and cost benefit (15 points).

Lenovo maintains leadership, but very close to HP

For the second consecutive year, Lenovo stayed in first place, with 86 out of 100 points. Its highlight was the performance in reviews, Yoga 920 was the notebook with the most “Editor's Choice” awards. More than 53% of the models from Lenovo got at least 4 stars in reviews.

A HP jumped two places compared to last year and was in second place. Its biggest highlight is the design, with 14 out of 15 points. The company, which used to be a reference in laptops – mainly because of the MacBook Pro – only got one Editor's Choice award in 2017. Razer being Razer

Unsurprisingly, Razer products are often expensive for what they offer. And the truth is that, unfortunately, this also applies to the brand's notebooks – here, Razer only managed 6 out of 15 points in value for money. However, that doesn't mean that your notebooks don't have their target audience.

Obviously, we're talking about the fans of the Razer Blade Pro. Here, it is impossible to deny that we are talking about a notebook that makes any gamer's eyes shine. But it's worth noting: it's not for everyone.

Samsung and MSI share the title of worst notebook company

Samsung is the leader of the worst brands, now together with MSI (which dropped two positions). Both are in ninth place.

A MSI, despite theGT75VR 7RF Titan Pro, scored many mid-points, but “sinked” for having the worst technical support (11 out of 20 points).

A Samsung had the worst performance in analysis and design, with no model highlighted for quality. However, what we see in practice is quite different. That is, here in Brazil, for example, we have a wide range of options offered by the brand.

And some of these options are: the Essentials line, which offers notebooks for less than R$ 2000,00; The Expert line, which offers intermediate notebooks (over R$ 2000,00); The odyssey line, for those who like to play all kinds of games and, finally, the Style S51 line, which has one of the lightest notebooks on the market – the Style S51 Pen and Style S51 Pro.

Still, the editor of Laptop Mag was quite critical in saying that “If Samsung gave its notebooks half the attention it gives its phones, the company would probably do better.“. The brand is not alone in the last place because it has great technical support (17 out of 20 points).
