Leaked news

A One UI 8 began to be tested since May 2025 and, at this time, the first indications emerged that it would be launched in mid-August. Samsung should not focus on major design changes in this update, but rather on some optimization details and even smoother transitions. Improvements to some features released in January are also expected. Here's what we already know.

For those who use their smartphone as a work device, Samsung is redesigning the DeX mode so that it is closer to what we see in systems like macOS, Windows and Linux. First, the settings bar is located in the right corner, just like we see in the Windows. See the screenshot below:

Another novelty in DeX mode is that users can change the entire size of application windows, something we already see in computer operating systems. Check out the screenshot below:

Additionally, it offers direct shortcuts to the Downloads folder (via Samsung Files) and to the Screenshots folder (via Samsung Gallery). It's a faster way to search for system files and features, right from the home screen.

Despite not investing in major visual changes in design, some details of the browser Samsung Internet have been changed for better navigation on a daily basis. The main new feature is the menu, which will have History, Downloads, Saved Pages, Add Page and Settings buttons fixed in the upper area, while other buttons will continue to be customizable. In addition, the background of this menu will be transparent with blur.

The home page with shortcuts to the most visited sites can have its background customized with a photo of your choice. The company also prepares a privacy report and a list of most visited sites to better customize everything that is seen by users.

QuickShare made easy

The application that works like an “Android AirDrop” is being redesigned in Samsung’s update, with a new tab: now it will be possible to access what you sent and received, in different tabs, for better viewing.

Samsung Reminder

Another application that should undergo a “soft redesign” is Samsung Reminder, which now displays six blocks as a priority, instead of a list with several items. Now, it will be possible to see the categories Today, Scheduled, Important, Local, No Alerts and Completed. With this, only the “All” and “Trash” options that were found in the defunct left auxiliary menu are left out.

Speaking of the add reminders tab, the window for setting reminders has been redesigned, something that reminds us of the current Settings bar. OneUI 7, in addition to being able to create a reminder through voice commands, probably with natural language.

The company is also investing in creating personalized invitations, with images created using AI. The idea here is to allow you to create unique invitations with a few text or voice commands and then be able to share them with friends or contacts in your address book.

Greater integration of Now Bar

A Now Bar can be defined as a “dynamic Samsung island” and, in addition to the Spotify and Apple Music, it only supports system apps. This should change with support for Live Activities. Google's Android 16. This opens the door for companies like Uber e iFood start offering real-time updates on orders or trips, in addition to being able to follow a route on Google Maps directly through a floating window, overlaid on other applications.

O Now Brief, which serves as a summary of your day-to-day life, but had not yet gained much use in everyday life, should now offer more features. The most interesting of these is the possibility of registering reminders about useful tasks, such as taking medicine or drinking water. The company will also be allowing you to use the GPS and camera to remember where you parked your car so you don't have to spend hours searching for it in the parking lot.

And it is worth highlighting the Listen Brief: This will allow you to hear this information, which can be very useful in various situations, such as when driving or exercising. You will also be able to pause playback and stop it completely.

The next Galaxy Unpacked takes place on August 09th and, if the rumors are confirmed, this will also be the day that One UI 8 will be officially launched by Samsung. The company is preparing this and other announcements for its big event in the second half of the year, which should include the announcement of new foldable smartphones, smart watches and headphones, as we mentioned in our rumor matter.

Such availability after six months since the release of the update is due to the fact that the Google opted for the model Trunk Based Development (TBD, or Trunk-Based Development, in Portuguese). The information that the new update was confirmed by an insider via X, who mentioned that the new foldable smartphones arrive in the world with One UI 8 installed from day one.

Basically, Android stopped being developed on two fronts, the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and an internal branch (which is a branch) licensed with Google Mobile Services (GMS).
