The Celebration Tour – 40 years of Madonna
Announced in January last year, the pop diva's 12th tour 'The Celebration Tour' It is the biggest production of Madonna's career. The tour started in London, at 'The O2 Arena', on October 14th. Over 81 scheduled exhibitions (initially there would be 35), Madonna is present in North America, Europe, and will finish the marathon of shows in Brazil, in May.
In addition to the appeal of completing 40 years of career, the tour is bringing ambitious displays of Madonna, with provocative, iconic and futuristic looks. The musical production is also a highlight in itself: light and instrumental shows delighting thousands of fans in a presentation lasting 120 minutes.
The repertoire was carefully thought out, compiling the Queen of Pop's greatest hits over the decades. The tour features several award-winning tracks such as: “Like a Prayer”, “Vogue”, “Hung Up”, “Ray of Light”, “La Isla Bonita” and other great hits.
The tour's commercial performance was the motivator for more dates, stages and, consequently, countries to be added to the pop star's itinerant tour. The opening show alone grossed more than 22 million dollars, with just over 90 thousand spectators.
After visiting 13 countries in Europe, the tour is currently performing shows in the United States, where, in total, they will be present in 25 American cities, in addition to three Canadian cities, a presentation in Mexico and the closing performance in Brazil, in Rio of January.
It is worth remembering that the pop diva faced – before the start of the tour – a serious bacterial infection at the end of June 2023, being hospitalized for several days in the ICU, which culminated in the postponement of the North American leg of her tour. The announcement was made by the singer herself on July 10, 2023, through her Instagram account.
Shows in Brazil
The Queen of Pop's debut in Brazil took place at the end of 1993. Madonna performed in Rio de Janeiro, at the Maracanã Stadium, and in São Paulo, at the Morumbi Stadium. The show was inspired by his album "Erotica" and in the controversial book of sexual fantasies, "Sex". During the show, there were performances by a dominatrix, involving masks and whips.
