Apple held this Monday (09/03) its first two major launches of this year, and among them is the return of an icon: the MacBook. But “come back” is just a way of saying it. The brand new laptop is not a re-release, or an upgrade, or an update. It has been recreated and redesigned to be the thinnest and lightest in the history of Apple , and with impressive 13,1 mm thick and 920 grams, can overcome even the tiny MacBook Air.
It has to be said that this is a feat of engineering by the Apple . The model is approx. 4,2 mm smaller and 80 grams lighter than the Water, which may seem like little, but in the reduced dimensions they are, it is surprising to reduce almost 24% thickness and 9% weight.
But above all, it's fantastic to see this reduction without significant performance losses. compare with the Water is not the most accurate or indicated, since this is a completely new model, but due to the size comparison made by the company itself. Apple , it is impossible not to do the same. And in some ways the new MacBook it even grows in relation to its brother, as in the 8 GB RAM memory or in the internal storage, which has a minimum configuration of 256 GB, against 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB in the most basic versions of Water.
The 12-inch screen has the same technology Retina that was upgraded for the rest of the family, but it's thinner and with an enviable resolution of 2304 1400 pixels x. Measuring just 0,88 mm, it is the smallest ever used by a Mac, contributing to size reduction and efficiency improvement, using 30% less energy than other Retina. Another of the points that contributed to the small result was the keyboard, redesigned from scratch and using a system developed by the company itself. Apple to be 40% thinner than the competition and with greater precision and stability.
In processing capacity, the MacBook is limited, possibly because it has no moving parts (read: cooler) or air intakes. using the case's own metal – the first to be made entirely of metal – to dissipate heat. But the miniaturization technologies developed for the iPhone and iPad make the motherboard 67% smaller, and without the fans, use is silent as well as efficient. The options currently are the fifth generation of Intel Core M, in versions 1.1GHz dual-core with Turbo Boost to 2.4GHz, 1.2GHz dual-core Turbo to 2.6GHz or 1.3GHz dual-core Turbo to 2.9GHz.
Multiple entries have been replaced by a single entry USB-C, smaller but versatile, accepting connections USB 3.1, DisplayPort 1.2 and still serving as charger input, all in a single slot that's 3 times smaller than a standard USB. For wireless connections, the MacBook comes equipped with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The battery was also changed, this one for a version in "terraces”, which allows for 35% more capacity than standard battery cells.
All of this is completed by OS X Yosemite, released in October and redesigning Apple's operating system. By default, it also has other applications such as iMovie, GarageBand, iPhoto, Pages, Numbers e Keynote.
The sales of MacBook start on April 10, through the website and Apple stores and selected resellers, starting at US$ 1.299,00 (approximately R$ 4.000), in gold, silver or gray colors. Lighter than the Air it is. But it's heavy on your pocket.
