O Design It may not be as attractive as the models launched by the most famous manufacturers, however the experience of building a technological device is winning fans, allowing some moments of fun and the feeling of being a developer of famous companies.

The project is based on platforms Arduino, and even those who don't have a lot of knowledge in programming can learn the basics and manage to assemble the MAKERphone. In this article we explain a little more about the project.

Learn to develop DIY smartphones

Designed by the developer Albert Gajšak, the project isn't as crazy as it sounds, starting with the price. Pto assemble your own smartphone you will have to shell out $$104, being US$ 89 for the equipment, plus US$ 15 for freight. In direct conversion, the smartphone goes through BRL 387, already with shipping.

The cost should be seen as an investment. When starting to assemble the MAKERphone, you will learn to program in environments with PythonScratch, and you will also get to know some basic concepts of electronics. the project does not have the performance of a smartphone considered top of the line, but after completion it manages to perform the basic functions of a cell phone.

Partnership with Kickstarter

This is not the first project of Albert Gajšak. In March 2017, he launched the MAKERbuino, also on the platform Kickstarter. The Croatian developer's first bet was a game DIY, which had the same concept as MAKERphone: you build your own product, while learning some programming.

Developer's first project was also praised on Kickstarter platform

In an interview with the website Mashable, the creator said that he did not expect the idea to be so successful, and that the new venture is more complex than his first project:

"The MAKERphone It’s more sophisticated, more educational, has more lines of code, and is also more beautiful.”

Albert Gajšak also said that he thinks this evolution is incredible. He owns a startup that he has defined as a “self-sustaining” company, which has seven employees who actually earn money from this work.

Shipments to project buyers will follow shortly

MAKERphone has several packages available for purchase on the platform Kickstarter, ranging from $89 to $2,399. O Shipping for buyers starts in March 2019. It is important to mention that the more expensive the package, the more units you will receive.
