Meta AI: discover artificial intelligence for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger

A Meta presented, this Wednesday (27), during the Goal Connect 2023, Meta AI Assistant, a competitor to ChatGPT e google bard which will be integrated into the WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, from Facebook. The tool will be able to respond to some pre-defined commands, in addition to generating images, similar to what is already done in services such as midjourney e stable diffusion.

Despite having its own app, the AI goal will allow users to ask for help or create images without leaving the platforms, no longer needing to open a separate application or access a website to do so. The novelty is based on the llama 2, new generation of open source language model launched by Meta in partnership with ecosystem in the month of July.

The platform will also have “personalities” that will be available to assist with specific tasks. One of the cases exemplified during the Goal Connect involved selecting costumes for Halloween. In addition to interacting with this virtual representation, the user will be able to view the facial expressions that are generated in real time, through the exchange of messages.

How will Meta AI work?

The novelty of Meta is similar to what we are used to seeing since the arrival of ChatGPT, Google Bard, Bing and other chatbots launched. In the demonstration made by Zuckerberg, who led part of this Wednesday's presentation, it was only necessary to tag the chatbot in the WhatsApp — with user @Meta AI — and request a cooking recipe to receive the result in text.

For an image, the user simply needs to enter a standard keyword for the AI ​​to understand that it is time to work with the visual. One option, presented by the company, is to give the command "/imagine" and type the photo description to generate the result. There is still no information whether the commands will be translated into languages ​​other than English.

in the app of Meta, there are also 28 celebrities who will be available to discuss a specific topic. Among those chosen are tennis player Naomi Osaka, rapper Snoop Dogg and socialist Paris Hilton. According to the presentation made by Meta, just call the “codename” that each of the characters will have and ask for advice, ask questions or chat with the AI.

Emu: a new image editor

In addition to the chatbot and image creation, another tool must be implemented in Meta's applications. The company has introduced some artificial intelligence features that will allow users to customize the style of images and add new elements through this technology.

One of the biggest highlights is the tool's capacity, which will be able to generate a new image in just five seconds. Still according to Zuckerberg, it will be possible to use the resource to create stickers WhatsApp and also in the Facebook. On stage, the CEO of Meta showed the stylization of some normal photos with the help of AI.

The feature, which arrives next month, will have two editing modes: restyle e background. In the first, the objective is to give a new style to the photo. With this, users will be able to ask the AI ​​to transform the image into a watercolor painting, embroidery and other effects that do not add elements to the photo.

Already background creates an image from the photo to be published. This way, it is possible to ask, for example, the AI ​​to add a background, background, Christ the Redeemer background or any element the user desires.
