After two attempts by Motorola to launch - again - folding phones, here we have the third, and apparently welcome, attempt. We are talking about Motorola Razr Plus, a foldable smartphone that aims to redeem all the prestige that the brand had in the mid-2000s and 2010s in this area, especially when we remember the success that the classic Motorola V3 did in Brazil. Check out the news!
Motorola Razr Plus
The vehicle ZDNet had the opportunity to have a Motorola Razr Plus in hand for testing and shared a lot of information about the new smartphone. The site already starts by comparing the device with its equivalent from Samsung — the Galaxy z flip4 — and pointing out that there is technically a $100 current savings for the Razr Plus. Then he continues talking a little more about his specifications: a larger external screen with 3,6 inches, processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 and also 256 GB of internal storage.
When opening the device, the user is faced with a main screen of 6,9 inches with a display poled which is capable of reaching up to 165 Hz in refresh rate, two speakers, front camera with 32 MP resolution and running the Android 13 as an operating system. The screen still has a fingerprint sensor and is IP52 certified for water and dust resistance. The 3.800 mAh battery also may not impress everyone in an era with so much demand for smartphones that last longer.
When we compare the external screen, the Motorola Razr Plus shows its main differential compared to the Z Flip4: the 3,6-inch display occupies almost its entire external face, allowing the display of more information — and even the use of the keyboard to respond to messages — even with the device closed.
It is possible to make a Motorola Razr Plus reservation — Motorola Razr+ (Razr Plus), also called Razr 40 Ultra in some markets, or just Razr+, as registered on the brand's official website — as of June 16, 2023, in the United States. It will be sold in the colors Infinite Black, Glacier Blue and Viva Magenta (something like “Preto Infinito”, “Azul Glacial” and Viva Magenta”). The sale of the device will start on June 23, 2023 – availability in Brazil has not been announced.

Motorola Razr
In addition to the Razr Plus, Motorola will also bring an entry-level model to the new lineup, the Motorolza Razr — and yes, he is too. folding. Motorola claims that the device will be launched in 2023 for a “slightly cheaper” price than the Plus model, but probably not so much. The justification is that the structure in which the entry model was built is the same as the Plus model. It is not really a smaller, thinner and lighter device, in addition to the unfolded screen having the same settings, with 6,9 inches and 144 Hz in refresh rate.
Motorola's Razr lineup offers a most affordable option for consumers who want to try a foldable smartphone, but on a more limited budget. While it doesn't have the same flashy features as the Razr Plus, such as an external 3,6-inch screen and a more advanced processor, the Razr still promises to deliver a high-quality unfolded screen experience.
The most obvious difference between the two models is the smaller external screen, with the Razr having a 1,5 inch, instead of a real screen measuring 3,6 inches. At just 1,5 inches, this external screen still allows for basic interaction, but its limited size restricts information from being displayed in lines of text and simplified buttons. While useful for quick notifications and basic call control, this smaller screen can feel limited compared to the Razr Plus' larger, more versatile bezel.
In the Razr model the main camera of 64 megapixels it has a smaller sensor compared to the Razr Plus. While it can still produce high-resolution images, the sensor's small size can result in poorer low-light performance and the ability to capture fine detail.
This input device is equipped with a chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen1, which offers slightly less advanced performance compared to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 present in the Motorola Razr+ (Razr Plus) model. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is still capable of handling everyday tasks and running apps smoothly, it may have limitations when it comes to more intensive activities like graphics-heavy games or demanding multitasking.
And regarding the battery, here we have a smartphone with 4.200 mAh — yes, more than the Plus model. The entry model of the Razr line will begin to be sold over the next few months only in North America, being offered in the colors Sage Green, Vanilla Cream and Summer Lilac (something like “Verde Sábio”, “Cream de Vanilla” and “Lilac Summer").
