No Showmetech TRIO this week, we talked about a Google robot that scored more than 300 hits in a game of ping pong; We will also show the interest of Interpol in adhering to VR technology; and let's talk a little about the mission of NASA e SpaceX in rescuing the telescope Hubble. Come check out the highlights of the week with Showmetech TRIO!
Google ping pong
The more we watch science fiction movies, the more we find similarities between the technologies of fiction and our reality. And when they say that one day artificial intelligence can beat us, don't doubt it!
This happened even with Yes2Real, an artificial intelligence by Google that was applied to a robot to play ping pong with the company's employees. But don't think that the news was made just for the entertainment of the staff.

Sim2Real is used to develop a reasoning creation process. Basically, this artificial intelligence is taught about what to do in a virtual environment or in a simulation and then applies that knowledge in the real world.
Working in this way is interesting, as it could take a lot of trial and error to arrive at an ideal working model. By doing it in a simulator, this allows years of real-time training to happen in a few minutes or hours.
To put this technology's capabilities into practice, the robot was challenged by a human in a ping-pong match, and the robot ended up losing after 340 plays. What does the future hold for the relationship between machines and humans?
Interpol in the metaverse?
Another technology that has been installed all over the world is that of virtual reality, also known by the acronym VR, from the English Virtual Reality. It allows us to have even more immersive experiences when using specific glasses to access different platforms.
Despite the games sector being the one that explores VR the most, the security area also wants to try to improve its tools even more through this technology. is what the Interpol would like to join the world police organization.

Recently, Interpol announced that the world's first law enforcement metaverse could soon become a reality. The project foresees the creation of Interpol's headquarters, which is located in France, in VR.
As the metaverse develops, Interpol is concerned that criminals in general, scammers and terrorists will also migrate to the virtual reality world and commit crimes such as manipulating minors, stealing data, financial fraud, for stealing information aggression and sexual harassment, among others.
There is much to study to confirm whether this idea can really be applied in the institution. THE Europol is also involved and even delivered a document called “Policing in the Metaverse: What Law Enforcement Needs to Know” about the possibility of criminals hijacking or replicating a user's 3D avatars, which can become especially problematic if those avatars become photorealistic.
Hubble telescope rescue
Two of the largest companies in the space industry, NASA and SpaceX, are joining forces for a mission to save the telescope Hubble, originally released in 1990 and highly recognized for its ability to be periodically updated and visited.
Already in its third decade of operations, Hubble was responsible for bringing us incredible images and data about the universe, such as evidence of its expansion, the growth of galaxies, the presence of black holes and records of star deaths.

Although the new Webb telescope has more advanced technologies, as we can see by comparing the images from the two telescopes, Hubble remains very important to science. SpaceX contacted NASA to try to increase the telescope's lifespan by taking the capsule Crew Dragon to the satellite and manage, at least, to raise its orbit a little more.
Currently, Hubble revolves around the Earth at an average altitude of 535 km, this is because the satellite has already lost a lot of height due to the process of natural orbit decay. There is a 50% chance that the telescope will re-enter the atmosphere in 2037 if nothing is done. If the mission is a success, the nominal altitude will return to 600 km and this effect of losing altitude can only happen in mid-May. 2057. Thus, Hubble will be able to offer even more of its capabilities to Earth.
