A favorite genre for many, crime movies and series are a great choice for those who are undecided who are looking for fun and adrenaline on Netflix

Content e police series they look like a special program for the weekend. Not surprisingly, the genre is a favorite of many and embraces all tribes: there's police drama for those who want to get emotional; the police thriller, great choice for a marathon with a touch of suspense and adrenaline; and even the police comedy, made especially for those who combine fun and adventure and whose main exponent is none other than Jackie Chan, who is a kind of king in this type of film.

But, let's be honest, the reason that leads us to write is the unexpected news that Adam Sandler, yes, the actor known for his romantic comedies and very typical, is in the best moment of his career and his passage through the American festival. Telluride Film made a real noise. Known as one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood and also as one of the worst actors in activity, being the second biggest winner of the Golden Raspberry Trophy (behind only Sylvester Stallone) Adam Sandler turns the tables ahead of Uncut gems.

In the police drama Netflix, Adam has managed to convince critics that he too is an actor to be taken seriously and his name is being speculated in sort of fervor for Best Actor Oscar nominations alongside Joaquin Phoenix for Joker and Taron Egerton for Rocketman. Uncut gems becomes one of the most awaited novelties of the platform and its launch is scheduled for December 13 this year.

For now, it's all speculation, of course, but it's enough fuel, in a mix of incredulity and curiosity, to make us think, rethink and give the verdict: why not give this genre a chance and make our favorite programming known as Netflix+chill even more fun? Check out our list below:

5 unmissable police series for an unmissable marathon

The Fall

The great merit of The Fall lies precisely in its ability to manage information and mystery. With an eyedropper, you will be guided through a tangled web with two opposite poles very different from each other, but, at the same time, similar in their core: both are brilliant individuals, with lucid minds and sick bodies. It sounds vague, but believe me, there's so much more that this series can offer. There are tender moments, of course, but what is at stake here is survival in a cold war of intellects.

This psychological thriller dissects the lives of two natural-born hunters – one of whom is a serial killer who has been claiming victims in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The other side of the coin is a brilliant detective who is summoned by the London Metropolitan Police to capture him before he claims more victims. But it's harder than it sounds: local authorities don't have suspects or experience in cases involving sexually motivated serial killers, something Stella Gibson has plenty of.

The Fall has 3 seasons and is available at Netflix.

The Blacklist

It's very difficult to talk about police series and criminal investigations and leave aside The Blacklist. Perhaps because the series is one of the biggest names in the genre. Perhaps because it is one of the longest-running series of its kind. Or maybe because she's just brilliant. In the end, The Blacklist portrays the last resort and one of the great assets of American police intelligence.

After all, it tells the story of fugitive Raymond Red Reddington, an ex-government agent who decides to turn himself in to the FBI and help arrest international criminals with a mysterious condition: to work in partnership only with newcomer Liz Keen. Apparently there is no connection between them, being certain that this also does not reveal the reason for this preference.

The Blacklist has 7 seasons and is available at Netflix.

Sherlock

We may know Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange and Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, but before these two English actors migrated to Hollywood productions that drive the box office, it was in Sherlock, the first significant commercial and critical success of the BBC, that they were able to give a kind of taste of what they are truly capable of. In one of the most famous crime series in England today, the duo delivers a dynamic makeover of classic literature characters Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and the hype behind this series is entirely justified.

Here, Dr. Watson is a war veteran, full of trauma and an anxiety that doesn't stop and doesn't let up. With post-traumatic stress, he searches for meaning after having witnessed the worst in human beings. Ironically, he finds motivation in Sherlock Holmes, a functioning sociopath who, to everyone's knowledge, is an exceptional detective. The series pilot accurately portrays the dynamic encounters and disagreements between these two men so different until they form a partnership. And don't worry, Sherlock still resides on Baker Street, as he should.

The great merit of the series is that it does not promise any frills and, even though it is a modern adaptation, it does not remain so far from the original. On the contrary, it strongly dictates the plot twists and the insertion of characters. For the nostalgic, it's a great opportunity to experience favorite moments from the books on screen. For unbelievers, it's a narrative performance with no loose ends, administered with the deference in which a conductor conducts an orchestra. There is one small caveat, perhaps, with such busy schedules, it becomes increasingly difficult for both Benedict and Martin to return to their roles, which can be frustrating for those wanting new chapters of this journey.

Sherlock has 4 seasons and a Christmas special available at Netflix.

Bodyguard

Bodyguard is one of the few police series that may have some things in common with the movie of the same name, starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner and which definitively immortalized the anthem I Will Always Love You in the popular imagination. Starring Robb Stark of Game of Thrones, or rather Richard Madden, this is the series that marked the King in the North's definitive step out of Westeros and enshrined him with some major awards in the process.

Like Dr. Watson, David Budd is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, and, like the doctor, he also has a series of traumas that have not yet healed. Hired as a Protection Specialist for the London Metropolitan Police's Special Protection Branch, he has a difficult mission to protect none other than the ambitious and powerful Secretary of State, Julia Montague. But don't think there will be gaps for romance along the lines of Whitney and Kevin, she is the representation of everything he despises, throwing him into a conflict of Homeric dualities: duty and principles.

Bodyguard has a season and is available at Netflix.

Fargo

Fargo It's one of those essential series because right away it's an instant classic. The series is based on the film of the same name by the Coen brothers and has a somewhat unusual plot. Characterized by its dark humor, the series shows the lives of several Minnesota natives involved in various true crimes. What makes it unique is precisely the fact that situations are looming and accumulating in such a way as to become absurd, both for the viewer and for the characters.

Fargo has 3 seasons and is available at Netflix.

Must-have cop movies for the weekend

Police madness

This 1984 comedy classic is an example that what makes a good cop is a good heart. The franchise has more than five films and there is a real frenzy amid rumors of a continuation with the original cast. For now, it's just rumors, but it's no impediment to check out the beginning of everything and invite friends to marathon all the movies. It's fun for sure.

To combat a crime wave, the mayor of a large city decides to increase the number of police officers on the streets. For this, she recruits candidates without the slightest qualification, to the despair of the serious commander of the police academy and his faithful assistant, who try, at all costs, to prevent the pranks of their companions. From there, we promise the biggest madness.

The Police Academy is available na Netflix.

Bad Boys

It's hard to believe when Will Smith admitted that Alladdin was his highest-grossing movie. That's because the American actor was ahead of some franchises with astronomical box office as Men in Black, Independence Day and Bad Boys. These titles have earned him the nickname Mr.July, in reference to the month in which blockbuster movies are released, and the certainty that everything the Prince of Bel Air touches turns to gold.

Bad Boys would be no exception. In an unforgettable partnership with Martin Lawrence, Will Smith shows that being a cop is cool and cool and that saving the day in the end is still a mission worth it. They provide a face and voice for Miami Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, who are in trouble when a recently confiscated $100 million shipment of heroin is stolen from the police headquarters.

Suspecting it was an inside job, they have five days to track down the drug before they shut down the narcotics division. Marcus is forced to go undercover as his partner in order to gain the trust of a call girl, a key witness in the investigation. The film kicks off a film franchise that, like Police madness, has its next episode eagerly awaited by fans. The difference is that the final film has already been confirmed by both main actors and will soon be on movie screens.

Bad Boys is available na Netflix.

Seven

Seven It's a forceful thriller about a relentless hunt for a genius and high-strung serial killer. Making a parallel with the deadly sins of the bible, soon the duo of protagonists find themselves trapped in a mirror that reflects nothing but the worst of themselves. It's one of the movies with the most unpleasant and shocking ending in cinema, and for that, it's well worth it. It's that kind of movie you can't miss.

Seven is available na Netflix.

Rent dogs

Before Pulp Fiction was released Rent dogs. Or rather, if it didn't exist Rent dogs, maybe it didn't exist Pulp Fiction. Graced by some, forgotten by others, the film is perhaps one of those that best manages to imprint in its essence Quentin Tarantino's authorial mark, which today moves the public to watch a 3-hour film about the Manson family starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. .

With the director himself giving life to one of his ordinary and extraordinary characters, the story begins with a conversation between a group of men inside a restaurant. The scene is simple, and is soon preceded by the credits. After these, the story follows different directions, and we are formally introduced to the situation: during a robbery at a jewelry store, a group of criminals is discovered by the police, leading the group to distrust each other, believing that there is an infiltrator in the group. Nimble, comic, bloody, clever and memorable, Rent dogs is a full plate in Tarantino's career, and marks the ultra violent and modern style that makes the director one of the most popular on the planet today.

Rent dogs is available na Netflix.

Rush Hour 2

Truth be told: Rush hour it's good but Rush Hour 2 it is much better. A familiar name to Western audiences, Jackie Chan, finds in Chris Tucker the best of partners and an opportunity to invite audiences into his home. Set in Hong Kong, Rush Hour 2 illustrates some of the work of the local police without giving up the martial arts choreographed in the action scenes. It is the highest-grossing live-action martial arts film of all time, and the second highest-grossing martial arts film of all time, behind Kung Fu Panda.

The story takes place shortly after the events of the first film, with Los Angeles police detective James Carter on vacation in Hong Kong with his friend Chief Lee. Their leisure is temporarily suspended as a bomb explodes at the US Consulate General, killing two agents disguised as customs officials. Lee is assigned to the case, which becomes personal when he discovers it somehow involves Ricky Tan, his father's ex-partner. Ricky, who was suspected of having a role in the death of Lee's father, is now a leader of the Triads, a criminal organization active in Hong Kong.

Fun, unusual and taking itself seriously at times, the film justifies its success in a session of more than two hours of pure fun.

Rush Hour 2 is available na Netflix.
