How many times have you looked for someone to share a subscription to the Netflix? The platform, which has a vast catalog of original productions and productions developed by other companies, has never allowed the sharing of accounts between people who live in the same place, but that was not an impediment for users to share plans that cost from R $25,90.
Since last year the Netflix has been working on measures to contain the sharing of passwords, and as of today (16) the company is implementing additional fees for those who share their account on the platform.
The novelty is currently being tested in the Chile, Peru e Costa Rica, and was justified as a way for the company to continue investing in new programs and movies for its users. See the details right now.
Netflix Subscription Confusion
A Netflix never allowed the password of an account to be shared with people who do not live with the holder, but that was never a reason for, in fact, the subscriptions to be split. The possibility of creating one's own profile is a feature that opened the door to this, but according to the company, that's not how everything should happen.

The post was written by Chengyi Long, Director of Innovation and Product at Netflix, and makes it clear that no, you should not send your password to anyone you wish. The company also points out that there was confusion in this process, check out:
We've always made it easy for people who live together to share their Netflix account, with features like separate profiles and multiple streams on our Standard and Premium plans. While they've been very popular, they've also created some confusion about when and how Netflix can be shared.
The video streaming service claims that this account-sharing process could be generating losses, as instead of having their own subscription (and paying for it), people started using accounts of friends and close family.
What is the additional fee for those who share subscription?
It was not disclosed how Netflix will identify users who share subscriptions on the platform. Geolocation could be used, however, a user will be able to watch content from the platform in their own home and in other places, such as college and public transport, through their smartphone.

Another open question is whether the restriction will involve all subscription plans, given that the Premium plan allows up to 4 screens to be played at the same time. But Netflix already advanced the additional values for each extra profile that is created in the accounts. Are they:
- Costa Rica: US$ 2,99 (R$ 15,28 in direct conversion);
- Chile 2.380 Chilean pesos (R$ 15,17 in direct conversion);
- Peru: 7,9 Peruvian Solis (R$10,79 in direct conversion).
For users who want to remove their profiles from shared subscriptions, Netflix is also rolling out a feature that will allow them to transfer their user profile to another existing account or to a new account. In this way, the history of views, productions saved in My list and personalized recommendations.
No additional payment will be required for the transfer of profiles, but only residents of the Costa Rica, Chile e Peru will be able to test before subscribers around the world.
