The mobile device division of Nokia was bought by ecosystem, but the Finnish company continued to operate independently in other sectors. One of them is innovation, which presented the Ozo, a spherical camera aimed at producing virtual reality content.
The news was revealed during an event for the entertainment industry that took place in Los Angeles. THE Ozo will be able to capture 360 degree videos, just like the 360fly. But unlike 360fly, Ozo is targeting professional production and will probably cost a fortune.
A Nokia claims that its camera is the most advanced VR device presented so far. It looks like a football and weighs almost 3 kilos, has eight image sensors and eight microphones, which capture audio in three dimensions.
Ozo stands out for its real-time preview of production. Directors can view the recording in real time and can quickly play back the captured content. Until then, recordings of virtual reality needed to be processed to join, which can take hours. According to the company, Ozo can render the video in low resolution to play it back within a few minutes.
Other companies are also working on the development of similar devices. In addition to the aforementioned 360fly, the GoPro announced that it is developing a spherical camera and Google announced the project "Jump".
A Ozo is still in the process of development and a formal launch, along with the official price announcement, is expected in the autumn of the northern hemisphere (between September and December).
