A Meta released the newest final version of the application of WhatsApp for users of Windows. With the update, you will no longer need to keep a phone connected to the internet to be able to use the messenger on your computer, as it will work independently. The novelty was already available in the beta version of the application and now it comes to replace the old one WhatsApp desktop, “offering a new native, more stable and faster version”, according to the company.

What's new

The new version of the application WhatsApp is based on Universal Windows Platform (UWP) instead of Electron. With this, users should have a better experience, as it now offers a more responsive, easier and faster configuration. The new WhatsApp native to Windows also brings changes to its layout, adopting a slightly cleaner interface compared to the previous desktop version.
Before the arrival of this new version, users who wanted to use the WhatsApp on your PCs with Windows needed to access WhatsApp Web or download the desktop version of the app, but in these two cases it was necessary to maintain the connection to the app installed on the cell phone to synchronize conversations and messages between the two devices.
Another highlight is that now the app lets you link up to four devices to your WhatsApp account without needing the phone, maintaining end-to-end encryption on all of them. However, using linked devices has some limitations. For example, if you use an iPhone as your primary device, you cannot clear or delete chats. You also cannot send messages with WhatsApp web link previews, send messages or call someone who is using a “very old version” of WhatsApp. WhatsApp, as well as viewing real-time locations.
Availability and download

The new app is currently only available for Windows. However, soon there will also be a version for MacOS. Last month, the WhatsApp released the first public beta of the native version for Macs on Catalyst technology, which allows developers to easily bring applications from iOS for macOS. Just like the Windows version, the Apple device app based on WhatsApp all with iOS using native system APIs, allowing its performance to be faster and use less resources, saving battery.
Users on Windows will be able to download the new WhatsApp native in Microsoft Store, but to run it it is necessary to have at least Windows 10 installed on the machine. Previous versions of the operating system are not supported by the application. Already the beta for MacOS can be tested by signing up to the TestFlight.
