A Apple had invited the entire technological community to present its news on May 07, 2024. We saw Tim Cook talking about the launch of the Apple Vision Pro, at the beginning of the year, and then introducing the brand's new iPads! In addition to the new iPad Pro on M4 chip, we were also introduced to the new iPad Air, which comes in an unprecedented 13-inch model. Discover the news now!
Design
Os new iPads — both the 11 and 13 inch ones — have a very discreet design, like their predecessors. A difference in design is for the front camera and rear camera, adjusting the design of the device to better receive these new features.
In terms of colors, Apple offers a variety of vibrant options, including azul, purple, stellar e space gray. This range of colors adds a touch of personality and style to the device, allowing users to express their individuality through their iPad Air.
screen sizes
One of the biggest news in the new iPad Air line is the addition of a new size 13 inches, which expands options for consumers by providing a larger screen for a more immersive visual experience. This is the first time that a version of the iPad Air has been available in two different sizes, which will certainly increase its appeal to a wider audience. The traditional model of 11 inches is also available.
Display types
Both models come equipped with an LED screen Liquid Retina, which not only offers an anti-reflective coating for distraction-free viewing, but also technology true Tone, providing a truly immersive visual experience. With exceptional brightness and a wide P3 color gamut, every detail comes to life, ensuring content displayed is rich in depth and vibrant in any environment, while text remains sharp and readable regardless of the lighting conditions around it.
A IPS technology (In-Plane Switching) included in the screen provides wide viewing angles and vibrant colors, ensuring that no matter what angle you are looking at the screen from, colors and details remain sharp and accurate. Additionally, backlighting LED provides consistent, energy-efficient luminosity.
Screen glass
On the 13-inch model there is anti-reflective coating which significantly reduces reflections on the screen, making it easier to view in bright environments or outdoors. This means you can enjoy a clear, distraction-free viewing experience even when in direct sunlight or brightly lit environments.
Already fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating helps minimize fingerprint smudges and other fingerprints on the screen. With this feature, you can use your iPad Air without worrying about fingerprints that may obscure the screen's clarity. This also makes cleaning the screen easier, as fingerprints are less likely to stick to the surface.
Colors
Forget the old — and somewhat lively — yellow, blue, pink and silver — to welcome the current ones blue, purple, stellar and space gray. All colors are available for both new iPad Air models.
CPU
The new iPad Air arrives with the chip Apple M2, representing a leap in processing power and efficiency in this category. Its memory bandwidth of 100 GB/s and 8 GB of RAM promises to support intensive workloads and provide a fluid and responsive experience for users.
GPU
The chip Apple M2 features a GPU with 10 cores dedicated to graphics processing, providing a more immersive visual experience and cutting-edge performance in gaming, video editing and other graphics-intensive tasks. With this graphics power, M2-powered devices — like the new iPad Air — can deliver fast, smooth rendering of complex graphics, support for high-definition resolutions, and the ability to handle multiple simultaneous workflows with ease. In contrast, the M1 chip's GPU, with its 8 cores, although capable, falls short of the capacity offered by the M2, showing the evolution that Apple has achieved in terms of graphics performance between these two generations of chips.
NPU
O M2 It features a series of significant improvements over its predecessor. One of the main advantages is its Neural Engine (NPU), which demonstrates a 40% increase in speed compared to the 2022 iPad Air. The M2 has 50% greater memory bandwidth compared to the M1. This means it can handle more substantial data volumes more efficiently. Additionally, the M2 can be configured with up to 24GB of fast unified memory, providing a more fluid and responsive user experience. The M2's Neural Engine is also worth highlighting, as it is capable of performing up to 15,8 trillion operations per second.
Back camera
O iPad Air 2024 also features a wide rear camera 12 SM, capable of capturing high-resolution photos and detailed video in 4K, with support for 240 fps slow motion. Dual microphones are precisely designed to work in conjunction with the cameras, capturing clear audio from the environment in use while minimizing unwanted background noise.
It is also equipped with landscaped stereo speakers that offer an immersive audio experience, complemented by technology Spatial audio. The 13-inch model increases sound quality even further, with double bass, ideal for enjoying music and videos with above-average sound depth.
Frontal camera
On the new iPad Air, the Ultra Wide front camera 12 SM it is now positioned along the long edge in landscape orientation. Equipped with technology Center Stage, this camera uses machine learning to automatically keep all participants within view during video calls. This new camera location was strategically placed as it aligns with the most common orientation of iPad users, whether for interactions on the FaceTime with friends and family or to join video meetings while using iPad Air with a keyboard.
Internal storage
The new models can be found with storage 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and also in 1 TB. In comparison, the previous model only had 64 GB and 256 GB storage.
Availability
Since today, May 7, customers can book the new iPad Air with M2 chip both on Apple's official website and in the Apple Store app in 29 countries and regions, including Brazil. Deliveries will begin in May 15, and the device will be available both at the Apple Store and through Apple Authorized Resellers.
