What to expect from Doctor Strange in theaters

The expansion of Marvel Cinematic Universe takes another step forward with the release of the fourteenth feature (!) set in the setting shared by captain America, Thor, Men of iron e Spider-Man, among many others. Endowed with impressive aesthetics and visual effects, Doctor Strange tempers with psychedelia the already somewhat worn out format of films based on characters from the comic book publisher formerly known as the “House of Ideas”.

In an era of apparent widespread creative bankruptcy by a mass entertainment industry desperate for franchises that yield the most sequels, remakes e reboots possible, one of the great assets of the already established genre of “superhero movies” is the gigantic variety offered by the material to be adapted.

After all, comics offer stories that range from teenage musings to Peter Parker/Spider-Man to the cosmic-divine complications faced by the god of thunder Thor and hair Guardians of the Galaxy, going through the espionage and arms sabotage plots that involve captain America e Iron Man.

That's if we just stick with the examples of the Marvel, which easily maintains the lead against rival DC Comics when it comes to developing a universe for your characters on the big screen.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Led by the director and screenwriter Scott Derrickson, whose trajectory includes horror films such as O Emily Rose's Exorcism e The entity, in addition to the lukewarm sci-fi remake The Day the Earth Stood Still, Doctor Strange put the great Benedict Cumberbatch in the shoes of a Doctor Stephen Strange who follows the “Downey Jr Primer” of the charming, irreverent and confident protagonist, in an approach that seems to have already become standard in films from Marvel Studios.
