Instagram: turn off activity status option and avoid stalkers

While in some cases a stalker (persecutor, in Portuguese) is romanticized, in others it can be a police case. With that in mind, the Instagram, the photo and video sharing app, has been updated and includes a new option. It is now possible to disable the Instagram activity status and feel safer. Check out:

Why is Instagram's "Show Activity Status" option a problem?

It's been a while since the app lets anyone know when you're active in him. This is not an ideal scenario, as you usually don't just have friends following you, but people from whole world.

In order to decrease the number of victims of harassment and other crimes, the app now lets you disable the option that shows Instagram activity status. By turning off the filter, other people will not be able to see when you last used the app. See how to do it:

Walkthrough: Disabling Instagram Activity Status

Step 1. Open your Instagram. From the home screen, go to your profile. It is located in the lower right corner, as shown in the image below:

Step 2. Upon arriving at your profile, note that there is three dots in the upper right corner of the screen. There, you will find not only the new option to change the activity status of the Instagram, like all other options available in the app. Proceed to the next step by tapping the mentioned location.

Step 3. Arriving at options, you should go down and look for the option “Show activity status”. It's on by default and lets your friends or even strangers see when you last logged into the app. To avoid the stalkers, you must leave the filter Grey as in the picture on the right:

Step 4. Phew! Now notice that in first image below, when the filter was still activated, it was possible to see when the contact was last entered in the application. By deactivating the option, it is possible to see that the information disappears, as shown in second image. This is because by turning off Instagram activity status and avoiding the stalkers, you are also unable to see when other people have entered the Instagram. Nothing more fair, right?
