OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Atlas, a New Web Browser

Today we were introduced to a new web browser, ChatGPT Atlas, developed by OpenAI. The company, in a quick broadcast on its channel on YouTube, presented the various features of the new program that should incorporate the Artificial Intelligence resources of ChatGPT to improve the user experience when browsing the Internet, such as automating processes, and creating browsing suggestions based on history.

Advantages of ChatGPT Atlas

O ChatGPT Atlas will work as a browser similar to Microsoft Edge ou Google Chrome, but with the advantage of having the ChatGPT application built into its structure to create a smarter and more efficient experience for the user to browse the web.

Intelligent searches and automations

For example, you can visit a page to plan your next trip and quickly ask ChatGPT which travel itineraries are most interesting for tourists, given your interests. Users can also perform intelligent searches that provide suggestions for websites and other apps based on their history.

Intelligent content creation and editing

Additionally, you can select text snippets from web articles and even emails you write to request tips or more information from ChatGPT. Having trouble organizing a list or table? No problem, just specify the information sources and ask ChatGPT to create what you want, making your job easier!

Access to history and security

With access to your data and browsing history, you can also ask ChatGPT to perform specific actions, such as opening the tabs you recently searched in – instead of wasting time searching for the information you need in your history. ChatGPT's developers emphasize that data security and privacy issues are carefully addressed so that ChatGPT Atlas only have access to the data indicated by the user and the navigation tabs, preventing the browser from accessing sensitive data (login data or credit card information, for example) and not executing codes in the background.

Agent mode

By far the most interesting feature of the ChatGPT Atlas, “agent mode” allows the user to automate web browsing. Simply tell ChatGPT what you need, such as searching for items for a beach trip or reserving a table at a restaurant, and watch as ChatGPT takes control of the browser and performs these actions for you. It's important to note that this process is performed clearly and intuitively, allowing the user to cancel or adjust any browser action while the mode is activated.

At the moment, the ChatGPT Atlas is only available for Mac (although the browser should have versions for other operating systems soon). You can download and install the browser through this link.
