Basic sanitation shows the residents of Linha Cristal, a village in the Serra Gaúcha region, trying to address the lack of sanitation. To build a septic tank, they form a committee to ask the local city hall for help. The secretary recognizes the need but informs them that there is no funding available until the end of the year. On the other hand, the city hall has almost R$10 earmarked for the production of a video, a resource that will be lost if not used. Thus, the idea arises of creating a fictional film about the construction of the septic tank, to free up the funds and carry out the work.

The series also explores the context of the relationship between Isabela and Cupertino, highlighting aspects of violence and control, which helped to understand the motives behind the crime and its social impact.
