Anyone who enjoys a little adrenaline will not refuse a roller coaster. if the ride in itself is incredible, an American amusement park in Georgia decided to take the fun to another level, incorporating virtual reality kits to a real roller coaster. O “Dare Devil Ride” (“Ride of the Fearless” in free translation) is the first of its kind.
Using eyewear technology VR Gear da Samsung, the tour of Dare Devil Ride transports the passenger to a virtual reality where you play the character of Will Smith in the movie Independence Day. In this reality, the user leaves the tracks of roller coaster and starts piloting a virtual jet, hunting aliens. It is even possible to shoot Aliens, clicking on the side button Samsung Gear VR or screaming "Aliens!”…if you can concentrate.
The park proposal Six Flags (place where the roller coaster works) is nothing new, as it brings concepts from larger theme parks where there is a mix of reality and virtual reality and Disney e Universal. But this is the first use case of the VR kit in a roller coaster high speed.
Virtual Reality in the real world
Why is this news so important? Because we are witnessing something that could be the start of an exciting trend. Amusement parks that manage to bring the best of both worlds. Imagine being able to repeatedly go to the same roller coaster and still experience different virtual adventures with each race.
And this is just another good reason for the popularization of this technology. Although many people consider virtual reality a passing wave, in practice, we can see that its use is just beginning. Imagine shows being filmed and streamed directly to virtual reality devices around the world, or even football matches?
Perhaps, what few people have understood is that the greatest application of virtual reality is not to take us to a fantasy world, but to bring us closer to the real world. See below a “video-review” of two fearless pioneers of the “Dare Devil Ride”:
