O Pika uses models of Generative Artificial Intelligence ou Generative AI such as ChatGPT e midjourney, to create entirely new video scenes based on user-entered text. When typing any phrase or instruction, the system creates 3D animations, cartoons, cinematic sequences and even related anime.

For example, you might ask the editor to create a realistic scene of a dog and a cat in a boxing ring:

Additionally, the tool offers a user-friendly interface for those who are unfamiliar with the video creation process.

CEO Demi Guo (left) and CTO Chenlin Meng (right) say that the tool is designed for amateurs who want to create their first videos.

Investors as the entrepreneur Nat Friedman, former executive director of GitHub, and the American company Lightspeed, have already stated that they are impressed with the product created by Demi Guo and Meng, founders and current CEO and CTO of the project.

A startup got more investors and raised a total of $55M monthly (approximately R$271 million) in just three stages of crowdfunding. According to a source involved with the matter, the Pika Labs is already rated between US$200 million and US$300 million.

With the new financing, Guo stated that it plans to expand the team at Pika for about 20+ employees in 2024. Its main objective is to monetize the product, which is currently free, in addition to introducing a subscription system, with more resources for consumers.

In one brief conversation with the website Forbes, Demi Guo mentioned that he is not interested in building a project for cinematographic productions, differentiating the video editor Pika of other competitors. “What we're trying to do is something more for everyday consumers – people like me and Meng, who are creators at heart but not so professional.", it states.
