Basic Plan with Netflix Ads does not work on some devices; see which

Last month the Netflix announced a new Basic plan with ads for this month of November, however, not all users will be able to benefit from the novelty. That's because the new plan Basic Netflix does not work on older devices, be they smartphones, tablets or Chromecasts. Check now which devices are eligible for subscription to the service.

Understand the new Netflix Basic plan

Yesterday (3) a Netflix introduced in its subscription catalog a new way to watch your movies and series: the Basic with ads. The novelty reached twelve countries, being them the Brazil, Germany, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Spain — arriving on November 10th —, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Here in Brazil this plan costs 18,90 BRL and also includes good video quality, 720p resolution, without the possibility of downloading media to watch offline and can also be used on smart TVs, computers, smartphones or tablets. However, the company says that some devices will not be compatible with this new Basic plan from Netflix. In addition, some series and movies not available on Basic plan with ads because of licensing restrictions. These titles will have a lock icon when searching or browsing Netflix.

Basic with Ads is a Netflix subscription plan that allows you to watch movies and series for a lower price. With this plan, you can watch Netflix in HD video quality (up to 720p) on one compatible phone, tablet, computer or TV at a time. It is also possible to access Netflix Games without ads.

Details about non-compatible devices

Regarding mobile devices — such as smartphones and tablets — if you are using a iOS / iPadOS e Android, they will need to be updated to at least the version iOS 15 and Android 7 or higher, respectively. For those who use a chromecast, the new Netflix Basic plan will only support models that support the Google TV.

This means that if you are using the chromecast XNUMXst, XNUMXnd or XNUMXrd generation, the Basic plan with ads will not work on your device. Also, if you are using the Chromecast Ultra, the service will also not be supported.

who uses the Apple TV You can forget about the new plan, as none of the models will support the Netflix novelty. The same also applies to PlayStation 3, if you are still using one. Amazon's smart TVs, PCs, Macs and streaming products will all work normally.

If you have a device that is not supported, such as an Android or iOS device, try update the system of this device. If that's not possible, you may need to buy a new device or subscribe to any other Netflix plan. Fortunately the current season is shopping-prone and if you're looking to upgrade your streaming device, there are plenty of deals during Black Friday sales.

• You are using an incompatible device. Basic plan with ads is available on phones, tablets, computers and TVs compatible. Some devices that support ad-free plans do not work with ad-free Basic;
• You are in a country where the Basic plan with ads is not available;
• Your Netflix account is billed by a partner or linked to a bundle. Contact your provider to confirm plan availability.

Some movies and series will not be available due to licensing restrictions, and downloads are not included.
