A patent registered by Apple revealed that the company is studying ways to include two cameras in a single device. The registration was granted to the company by the US Patent and Trademark Office this Thursday, 30.

O iPhone would not be the first smartphone with two cameras. O HTC One M8 already has this feature, however, it uses two sensors with the same lens. The document shows that Apple intends to include a camera with wide angle lens, common in smartphones, and another camera with a telephoto lens.

The technology would allow for a wider angle of view for capturing images and improved focus adjustment.

It is natural to associate telephoto lenses with the lenses that professional photographers use to record sporting events or objects that are very far away. But according to the patent description of the Apple , such a lens would take up a small space of up to 6mm.

Rumors about the inclusion of a second camera in the iPhone have appeared since last year. It is worth remembering that the patent registration does not guarantee the use of the technology, but some indications suggest that this is a possible novelty in the next generation of the smartphone.

Apple recently acquired an Israeli company specializing in multifocal cameras, LinX Imaging, the deal was closed at US$ 20 million. Among the company's creations is special software to produce high-resolution images in 2D and 3D formats.
