One of the most critically acclaimed games of 2018 puts players in the shoes of outlaws in the American Wild West. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the new masterpiece of Rockstar Games (same producer of the hit Grand Theft Auto V). That's why we've prepared a complete guide for those looking for tips and the trophies/achievements of Red Dead Redemption 2 for you to become the fastest trigger in the West!

Here is the warning that this guide contains spoilers information about the game, so read at your own risk.

Most efficient way to get trophies/achievements

Step 1: Missable trophies, optional story missions, becoming honorable, gold medals, challenges

The first step in the game is to play through the main campaign (a total of 108 missions). Along your journey through the wild west, you need to watch out for 4 missable in-game trophies.

• Helping out (Complete all optional Story Mode Honor missions): some story missions are extremely easy to forget, so explore the game world as much as you can. The quest that stands out the most for being overlooked by players is “Don't seek forgiveness” in Chapter 6, which requires an Honor level of 4/8 to play. So it is very important that you play honorably from the beginning of the game.
• Bosom Buddy (Complete a buddy activity at each camp): For this you need to do a random companion mission in the camp during chapters 2, 3, 4.
• Donate to the Poor (Donate $250 to the gang donation box): The donation box disappears after Chapter 4, so you must donate before then.
• Errand Boy (Fulfill 5 requests for items from camp companions): As with the optional camp missions, you must fulfill these requests between chapters 2 and 4.

If you've done something dishonorable, reload the last saved game file immediately. You can see your honor level by pressing the d-pad down. You must reach halfway on the right side (white color) to gain access to all optional honor quests.

In the upper right corner you will see a white cowboy hat when you earn honor points and a red bandit hat when you do something dishonorable.

Don't forget to steal 4 Properties at the beginning of the game. The first chance is after Chapter 2 starts. There are limited domiciles and some are linked to complementary activities, while others may become unavailable if you kill their owners without realizing it.

There are also some weapons you should keep an eye out for. Fortunately, you only need 48 out of 62 weapons to get the platinum/100%, so it's okay if you miss some.

While working on Story Quests, try Gold Medals immediately to reduce the number of replays. They're actually easier on your main playthrough because in replay you don't have tonics and just basic weapons. The game doesn't tell you the requirements for the first game, but you can already do them if you know them.

You can also start working on the challenges. There are 9 of them (each has 10 tasks, so 90 in total). They are all required to complete 100% and are found under Pause Menu > Progress > Challenges.

Make a manual save from time to time (Pause menu > History > Save Game). In case you missed something, it lets you skip back without having to start a new game from scratch.

Lastly, a quick note about fur and the study of each animal. There are some animals unique to an island in Chapter 5 that you can't get back, but they're not needed for trophies!

You only need the animals from the main map. So if you missed the animals from Chapter 5, you can still earn the trophies, see the trophy descriptions for more details.

Step 2: Complete 100%

After completing the main story, it's time to clean up all the other elements of the game to reach 100% completion. In this case, you will have to go in search of the 200 collectibles and do 90 challenges. You can check your progress via the pause menu under Progress > Total completion.

Step 3: All the animals

Interestingly, only 50 of the 178 animals available in the game are required to reach 100% completion. That way, even if you've completed the game, there will still be 128 animals that you can still study and skin.

Step 4: Online

Online trophies are straightforward and will come naturally as you reach level 50. The only thing you should keep in mind is to save money to make a Permanent Pack ($200), to fill 5 stalls with horses ($ $1700) and to buy 5 Camping Upgrades ($250).

You'll need $2150 total for these three trophies, so don't spend money on things you don't really need. Money takes longer to earn in Multiplayer than in Singleplayer. Other than that, enjoy Multiplayer the way you see fit.

West Legend: Legend of the West.

Earn all other trophies in Red Dead Redemption 2 to unlock platinum (PS4 exclusive), including Online Trophies (DLC not required).

In the mud again: Complete Chapter 1.

This achievement can be claimed. You need to complete a companion activity in Chapter 2, 3, and 4. The trophy should pop in Chapter 4 (camps in later chapters are not required for this achievement).

Below is a list of activities in each chapter. Note that only one per chapter is required, not all of them! These activities won't always be at the campsites so if they aren't, advance the story or sleep in your tent and try at another time of day.

You can also track your progress on Rockstar Social Club after completing each activity to verify that it has been accounted for.

Chapter 2:

• Javier – Robbery at home: Talk to Javier at the camp, he wants to do a home robbery with you in Valentine. This may still be available in Chapter 3.
• Charles – Hunting: Talk to Charles at the camp, he wants to hunt a bison with you.

Chapter 3:

• Sean – Coach Robbery: Talk to Sean at the camp, he wants to steal a Stagecoach.
• Bill – Coach Robbery: Talk to Bill at camp, he wants to steal a Stagecoach.
• Javier – Fishing: Talk to Javier at the camp, he wants to go fishing.
• Kieran – Fishing: Talk to Kieran at the camp and go fishing together.
• Javier – Robbery at home: if you didn't commit the robbery in chapter 2, it may appear again in chapter 3.

Chapter 4:

• Charles – Bank robbery: Only available if you own the Deluxe or Ultimate edition of the game. This is an exclusive bonus mission, not available in the Standard Edition of the game.
• Micah – Coach Robbery: Talk to Micah at the camp, he wants to steal a stagecoach.
• Lenny – Coach Robbery: Talk to Lenny at the camp, he wants to steal a stagecoach.
• Pearson – Hunting: Talk to Pearson at camp, he wants to go hunting.
• Uncle – Theft: Talk to uncle at camp, he wants to steal some cows with you.

Just one more round: Play all minigames.

There are 4 minigames in the game: Knife Game, Blackjack, Dominoes and Poker.

You just need to start playing them for a moment, no need to win. You don't even need to finish a match. After sitting down for a game, you can get up again and leave. You can track this in the Pause menu > Progress > Full completion > Table Games.

Home invasion: Dry reserve four properties.

Self-explanatory trophy.

Artificial intelligence: Discover Marko Dragic's fate.

This achievement is unlocked by doing the questline “A Jumping Boy” given by Marco Dragic in Saint Denis.

Steal from the Rich: Steal or loot $250.

Make sure you always steal corpses throughout the story. Some key mission targets keep more than $100 on them. The average enemy only has a few cents, sometimes a few dollars. It will take a while, but it should unlock later in the story. Just make sure you loot them all.

Donate to the poor: Donate $250 to the gang donation box.

Stay tuned because this achievement is easy to miss throughout the game!

In your camp you only have one donation box in Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4. Getting $250 is quite easy, you get well over $1000 from some story missions. To get this trophy, you must donate a combined $250 (not all at once). You can also donate valuable items to the tithe box, which are acquired from looting dead enemies. These add to the $250 as well.

Note, however, that donations from other gang members do not count. You must put up $250 on your own. After Chapter 4, there is no more tithe box and this trophy becomes unobtainable. Make sure you do this before then.

Paying the bill: Spend $5.000 for stores.

First, you'll need to accumulate $5.000 (you get $20.000 automatically for completing the story). Then do a manual Save in Pause Menu > History > Save Game.

Now spend all your money in any kind of store (Stables and Gunsmiths are the fastest way to spend $5.000). After the trophy pops, go back to Pause Menu > History > Load Game and reload your manual save to get the money back.

You can also make it work for approximately $3500. Just go to a stable, buy all the horses and resell them right away to get some of your money back. You can do the same tactic at General Stores and immediately sell back what you bought.

Extreme personality: Reach the maximum or minimum Honor level.

This trophy cannot be earned until you have completed Chapter 5! Since there's not much to affect your honor in Chapter 5, the first realistic shot is in Chapter 6 or after you beat the story (in Chapter 6 you get around 50% Honor for all actions).

You can see your current honor by pressing (the red/white bar at the bottom of the screen). The bar must reach the left side (dishonorable) or the right side (honorable). Being dishonorable is easier. Just kill everyone you come across and do a lot of damage. When you see random people on the roads, kill and loot them.

However, you must do a manual save beforehand to recharge and get your honor back if needed. 

Honor affects prices in stores and how some people react to you. If you want to unlock all the outfits, you must maintain a high honor as it is a requirement to buy certain equipment and unlock some optional quests.

If you want to go the honorable way, catching and releasing fish adds a lot, and after the story you can do daily quests at Beecher's Hope Farm.

A Stranger in the West: Complete 10 unknown people questlines.

Strange are the side quest givers. There are more than 10 of them (in total 26 of which 22 count towards this trophy). It only counts when you complete the complete questlines from start to finish (not just the first quest). They all give you a series of quests.

You can still play your missions after the story. To track your progress, check Pause Menu > Progress > Complete Completion > Strangers. The trophy unlocks later than it should for some reason. You can take 12 or more strangers on the mission. Even if he says 10/10 in Rockstar Social Club, keep doing weirder quest lines and he will unlock!

America's Sweetheart: Survive for 3 days with a $250 bounty on your head in all states.

Getting $250 reward is very easy. Go to major cities and start shooting people. When the lawmen arrive, shoot them too. Repeat until you have $250 bounty on your head (as it is displayed on the world map) and then go to the next state.

There are five states in Red Dead Redemption 2: Lemoyne, New Hanover, Ambarino, West Elizabeth, and New Austin.

The only tricky region is Ambarino, because there are no cities there. Simply kill a random person, pack them on the back of your horse, travel to Ambarino and wait on the road until someone comes riding. They will see the corpse and alert the lawmen. Then 3 waves of Lawmen will come to hunt you down. Kill them and repeat the process.

After earning $250 in all 5 regions, you can sleep to skip time for 3 days. Sleep twice in a row, then you must wait 5-10 minutes (real time) before you can sleep again. Keep sleeping until the trophy unlocks.

Collector's Item: Complete one of the collectible lines.

There are 4 “Collectible Strands” that count towards this (only those linked to Strange Quests): 144 cigarettes, 30 dinosaur bones, 10 carved stones and exotic objects.

You only need to complete one of the four. Rock carvings are the fastest. To complete 100% you will need all of them.

Condolences: Find the graves of each of your deceased companions.

Graves can only be found after finishing the story. There are 9 of them in total. They can be collected in any order and are also required to complete 100%. See the guide above for your points.

errand boy: Fulfill 5 requests for items from camp companions.

Stay tuned because this achievement is easy to miss throughout the game! This is only possible in Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4. Make sure you get this before completing Chapter 4.

While you are at your class camp, people will randomly come up to you and give you requests for material items they want. This is a bit random, so spend a lot of time at camp and socialize with your team to get more requests.

You need to make some progress in Chapter 2 and play a main quest with each camp member so that more requests are offered to you. Fortunately, there are a lot more than 5 requests.

Do this asap! Also, requests are usually only given on the day between 8:00 – 20:00. So don't try this in the middle of the night. Some of the request items can be very random, so stick to what's simple and easy to find.

It's art: Find a permanent home for the squirrel statue.

This achievement can only be obtained after completing the story! To get it, follow the steps below:

Step 1: finish the story (complete the epilogue, part 2).

Step 2: make all 5 hunting requests to Ms. Hobbs (you can start working on them already in Chapter 2, but the last one isn't available until the epilogue, Part 1). They are on posters inside train stations in the following cities: Valentine, Saint Denis, Rhodes, Van Horn, Strawberry, Armadillo.

You enter the train station where the post office is and look for the poster on the wall, pull it down to see the hunting order. It is then added to your Satchel (hold and find it in documents).

You must then deliver the requested animals in perfect condition to the post office and send them to Ms. Hobbs! It is absolutely vital that the carcasses are in perfect condition (3 stars), otherwise they will not be accepted. See Hunting Requests Guide.

Step 3: After completing 5 Hunting Orders, Ms. Hobbs sends an invite to her cabin (at the post office). Strawberry is in the upper right corner. She will award you the Squirrel Statue for your hard work!

Step 4: Head to your Beecher's Hope near Blackwater farm (only available after the story, that's why you had to beat the story first).

Step 5: Place the statue above the fireplace.

Step 6: Advance for a day and the statue should disappear (if not, advance whenever you need to). Someone in the house stole it. You must then find the statue again and place it back above the fireplace and repeat this sleeping procedure and find it again until you find it in its sixth location.

After placing it back above the fireplace, always sleep for 24 hours so that it gets stolen again. The statue's locations are as follows:

1. Chest in John's Room
2. Check the chimney in John's room
3. Go to the kitchen, where you'll find a ladder to the loft. It's in the chest on the right.
4. Outside next to the barn, where the sheep are, inside the wheelbarrow.
5. Inside the barn, go up the ladder and it's in the chest.
6. This one is not on the farm. It is in the north of the West Elizabeth region, north of Strawberry in Mount Shann.

self-sufficient: Craft 30 unique items in Story Mode.

While in the desert, hold for a few seconds and press to enter the crafting menu. You can also make a camp through the item wheel, rest at the camp and craft things there.

You get some recipes automatically from the story, others are bought from fences, and still others are automatically available after taking meat from certain animals so you can cook at the campfire.

Removing the Leather: Skin all animal species in Story Mode.

There are 178 animals. You can follow the Pause > Progress > Compendium > Animals menu. You must kill and skin all skinnables (only half of them can be skinned, i.e. animals with skins. Small animals and birds that can only be "collected" or "plucked" are not necessary - but keep in mind that birds larger ones are skinnable).

There is a lion that can be lost in a quest, but it's not needed because it's not added to the compendium. Only compendium animals count towards this.

Zoologist: Study all animals in all states in Story Mode.

There are 178 animals. You can follow the Pause > Progress > Compendium > Animals menu.

You must study them all. You can use binoculars to observe them when you are close enough and press to study them. You also need to kill and flay for the “Picking the Leather” trophy.

There's no need to track them for trophies, so you don't need 100% on every animal in the compendium. Simply fulfill the “study” requirement by looking at the animal through binoculars and press to study.

Studying just one per species is not enough (for example, there are several pigs, but you need all possible subspecies for that!).

It was THIS big!: Catch a fish weighing at least 16 lb (7,3 kg).

You will unlock this automatically as you catch all 13 Legendary Fish (which are required to complete 100%).

Enhanced to Kill: Upgrade all available components for a single short or long weapon.

Go to any gunsmith (marked on the map in cities), for example there is one in Valentine. Look at the gunsmith with and hold "Custom". Select any weapon > “Components” > Change All Components. For example, the basic Double-Action Revolver has these 4 components: grip, barrel length, barrel shotgun, iron sights.

It costs a few bucks to change them, but you can do a manual save first and reload it later to reset the money (Pause menu > History > Save Game/Load Game).

Bearer: Survive 18 bear attacks and kill them in Story Mode.

In the desert, when you meet a bear, you must let him grab you. Then quickly press to escape before it kills you instantly. While you're on the ground, you have a brief moment to shoot the bear. You must kill him during this phase. Always let the bear grab you, break free, kill you before coming back.

Bears can appear in many places, but it's a bit random. When you find a spot for bears, try to farm it while sleeping to advance (can make a camp by the item wheel). Choose a weapon that does a lot of damage and use express ammo (best is the fully upgraded “Carbine Repeater” + Express ammo).

Bears mostly appear in the morning or at noon. You can camp on the item wheel to advance time. Night and night is not recommended because of lower spawn rates.

faithful steed: Reach max bond level with a horse.

You can see your horse's binding level in Pause Menu > Player > Horse > Binding. Reaching Link Level 4 (the maximum) will unlock this trophy.

Here's how to improve horse bonding:

• Feed the Horse (Ride the horse, stand with it and select a gift from the horse's item wheel. You can buy goodies from stables).
• Press to pet your horse and soothe him when he is agitated.
• Brush the horse when it is dirty (dismount, look and brush).
• Ride your horse without depleting your stamina core.

You can cheat a bit by using Automatic Horse Travel (Autopilot) to let your horse go up and down the map. If you stick with the same horse for most of the story, this will come automatically. Just don't let your horse die.

If you lose it, go get it back from the stables. It takes a few hours to reach the maximum connection level. After the story, you still have a lot of collectibles to find, so you can combine them there too.

Leak: (Red Dead Online) Complete the Intro.

This is the first online trophy you will earn. It is unlocked after returning the first co-op mission “Honor Among Horse Thieves” back to your camp.

A guy named Cripps is waiting at your camp and triggers a cutscene, after which this trophy will unlock. This also opens up the rest of Multiplayer. You can't miss any of this, as the intro consists of some pre-set missions that you must do to unlock the rest of Multiplayer.

Serial Master: (Red Dead Online) Join a series.

After finishing the tutorial, at any time you can open Pause Menu > Online > Showdown Series / Big Showdown Series / Race Series. Join one of these 3 match types. The achievement will appear after finishing the game.

Gunslinger for Hire: (Red Dead Online) Take on 10 Freemode missions from characters around the world.

In Online Mode, you can find Freemode missions on the map marked by an orange icon. This type of mission can usually be found in cities. Just do 10 of them to get the achievement.

Full schedule: (Red Dead Online) Play 5 Freemode events.

In Freemode, you will be randomly invited to “Free Events” from time to time. They will always appear on the upper left side of the screen and just hold the Options button to participate.

You'll need to be quick to accept the invite before the Event starts. These events typically last around 10 minutes and have mixed objectives where you compete against a large group of other players.

Just play a lot in Freemode and always accept these events when you're invited. You don't have to win, just play the Event to the end.

Fasten your seat belts: (Red Dead Online) Get 5 gold buckles.

There are 425 Awards in Online Mode. You can view them and track the progress of each one in the Pause menu > Awards > Select an award category. They are, for the most part, just sort of a progressive tracker for having done an action multiple times.

You need the gold buckle on each one, which is the highest level possible (think of it as a gold medal). Now, luckily, they are not difficult, time consuming and you only need 5 or 425 prizes available!

The best there is: (Red Dead Online) Achieve MVP 3 times (in a round with at least 4 players).

To be the MVP (Most Valuable Player), you need to be the player with the best overall performance that is featured at the end of the match. After each match, there is a short cutscene that shows who the MVP was. Now, in general, it will be whoever has the highest score and is at the top of the leaderboard, but this is not always the case.

For example, in capture mode, even if you ranked third on the leaderboards but managed to get the most captures, you may still be displayed as the MVP. You also don't necessarily need to be on the winning team (in team matches). If you were the individual the game considers to have been the “most valuable”, you will be featured at the end.

Just try to get the highest overall score to increase the odds. The important thing is that there are at least four players in the match, which will always be the case in public matches (you don't have to join four players to join it, only four players in total).

This is the only relevant online trophy you really need to be a decent player for, but on the way to Rank 50 it is very likely to come naturally. This is easier to do in the standard Showdown Series as it has only 16 players (the Large Showdown Series has 32 players).

Horse for each day: (Red Dead Online) Have 5 horses at the same time.

You must first unlock 5 stalls in the stables and then buy 5 horses. One is unlocked from the start, the other 4 need to be unlocked with cash, on which you will have to spend a total of $1500.

Then you must also buy horses for each. You get a free horse from the online tutorial. You can buy the cheapest 4 “Kentucky Saddlers”, which cost $50 each ($200 total). The total cash required for this trophy is $1700.

Just beginning: (Red Dead Online) Reach Level 10.

Self-explanatory trophy. Play matches and participate in Free Quests to earn XP and level up.

Notorious: (Red Dead Online) Reach Level 50.

Self-explanatory trophy.

Anything goes: (Red Dead Online) Successfully interfere with a Rival Pack's Freemode mission.

In free online mode, you will be notified when a rival Possession starts a Free Mission near you. Stay close to cities where these quest icons are (and also check for possession leaders in the area, represented by a star icon on the map, while solo players are displayed as dots).

Keep in mind that not every mission can be fought by rivals (especially assassination missions). Train station ones work best for this, so stay close to them! For example. wait around the train station of Valentine, Rhodes, Blackwater or Saint Denis (wherever the most squatter leaders with a star icon are).

When a rival pack leader accepts such a mission, you will receive a red notification on the screen to attack them. Your objective, then, is to prevent the enemy platoon from completing its objective. If you manage to do this (by causing the enemy to fail their mission) you will unlock the trophy.

You are allowed to play alone, you don't need to be in a group with other players for it to work. However, if another group gets the finishing blow that he won't be able to unlock, you'll have to do it (because multiple gangs might try to stop the same mission, he might give them the trophy but not you).

Home comforts: (Red Dead Online) Buy 5 Camp Upgrades.

Go to your camp and talk to Cripps (after you've finished the online tutorial). Fix your focus on Cripps and preview camp upgrades to buy 5 of them. The easiest and cheapest option is the different flag colors that cost $50 each.

No regulation: (Red Dead Online) Craft 25 pieces of ammo.

First, you'll need ammo recipes. They can be bought in stores but 

First you will need ammo recipes. They can be purchased from fences, but require you to rank first. You can then hold Rest > to Craft > to switch to ammo. Craft 25 total pieces of any ammo. You can create the same multiple times (it doesn't have to be different than 25).

You can track this in the Pause menu > Progress > Awards > Survivor > Crafting Items (remember to check this number before starting to deduct items already crafted).

in flock: (Red Dead Online) Form a permanent Posse.

First you must finish the Online Tutorial to unlock the function to create a Posse. You also need $200 to start a permanent Posse!

Once you've done that, press the Pause menu > Flock > Form a Flock > Type: Permanent > Form a Flock. The difference between a Temporary and Permanent Pack is that the latter costs $200 to open and acts as a permanent clan.

The trophy pops instantly after creating the Posse, there is no need to invite any member to it.

Master craftsman: (Red Dead Online) Craft 20 items (except ammo).

The easiest way is to cook meat on the camp fire. You can cook the same meat multiple times and each piece of meat will count towards the trophy (it doesn't have to be 20 different types of "items").

So, go hunting and skin the animals for their meat. Now go to your camp. If you've forgotten where you are, choose the camp from the item wheel (hold and select a new camp near you).

Go there, press the fire to start cooking the meat. After cooking it, be sure to eat it right away. For some reason it counts as 2 crafted items when you eat (so you only need 10 meats). If you keep it in your backpack, it counts as just one crafted item, if you eat it, it counts as two crafted items.

You can track this in the Pause > Progress > Awards > Survivor > Crafting Items menu (remember to deduct created ammo from the total).

In pieces: (Red Dead Online) Sell 20 items to the butcher.

You can find butchers in Valentine, Strawberry, Blackwater, Rhodes, Saint Denis, Tumbleweed. Kill animals in the wild and skin them. Once that's done, bring the loot to the butcher and sell it to him. You can also bring the skinned animal carcasses to him, as they can be sold together.

You don't have to sell him 20 different items. It can be the same item multiple times (eg some animals earn you 3 times the same meat and each piece counts towards the achievement). Don't forget that skinning always yields more items!

Perfect Harvest: (Red Dead Online) Harvest 25 herbs.

For this achievement you need to harvest any 25 plants in the wild, they don't have to be herbs. Mushrooms, flowers, etc, all count towards this achievement so any harvested plant will do.

To visualize plants more easily, use eagle vision. That way, all the plants will be visible with a blue mist around them. So just go to them and pick them up.

You can track your progress with plants by going to the Pause > Progress > Awards > Survivor > Grab Herbs menu.

Together we will win: (Red Dead Online) Complete a Freemode mission in a Posse with at least 2 members.

The best way to get this achievement is to create a Posse yourself. After finishing the tutorial, you can press the left stick > Band > Square > Create a Band. 

In the same menu click on “Invite to Pack” and invite all players on the server (press R1 to invite friends if you prefer). Then go to a Free Mission and complete it (it is marked on the map with an orange icon). If no one joins your Posse, you can press “Options” and join a random Posse.
