There are some games that are a clear reference when it comes to RPGs. Diablo II is one of them. Launched in 2000, the game moved a legion of fans and added to the franchise the tone of popularity and prestige due to its rich and particular universe.

21 years later, Diablo II Resurrected comes on the wave of recent years of remasters of old classics, both to rekindle the interest of loyal audiences and to introduce the saga to new players. Although the title was launched in the midst of a scandal involving the Activision Blizzard and its employees, which causes inevitable discomfort for those who play, the new version of Diablo II is faithful and intelligent in its construction.

O showmetech could check out the game considered one of the highlights of the year in the gaming industry. Check out all the details below.

The dawn of an epic and dark world

Diablo II Resurrected tackles an epic world where evil ravages the ancient lands of civilizations at the mercy of attacks by evil creatures. The inhabitants of each region joined forces with weapons and fighters to protect themselves. In the role of a fighting traveler, the player needs to explore the vast areas infested by different enemies - from zombies to hideous spiders - and discover the secrets that involve Mephisto, Baal and Diablo himself.

With an engaging premise, the Diablo II remaster succeeds in reinserting characters and reintroducing the plot, divided into five acts. We'll warn you right away: this is a long game. Get ready to explore many locations, collect various items, and probably die a few times during this process.

At its core, the universe is something that captivates the player and prompts them to persist in raid/rescue/exploration missions to find out what comes next. At the end of an act, the game presents a cutscene which continues the story. In addition, the title is very faithful to the events of its original, which is gratifying.

A great exploration of resources and diverse combats

Diablo II offers seven hero classes for the player: Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Paladin, Mage e Druid. Each member represents a different combat style, ranging from melee to long-range. It is possible to customize your character during the gameplay, with weapons and clothing acquired by characters familiar with the plot.

O game It can also be played offline or online with other warriors in a closed room. This versatility is useful for playing games with friends or simply to have support in more complicated combats. Oh, and you can choose a nice name for your figure too.

The first contact in the game is with a remote camp, which is assembling forces in an obscure region. There you can find your items in a chest, as well as purchase accessories. the scheme of gameplay it may seem difficult, especially if the person does not have an affinity for this game genre, but it is very practical. With mechanics point and click, the player moves, attacks by simple commands, and uses healing and mana potions.

As said, the game is pretty big. So there will be plenty of room for testing, executing plans, and continuing exploration. As your character progresses in the missions, it is possible to hire an NPC who will help in the fights. It is of great help. special attacks and upgrades are made according to your weapons and combat style.

There is also an interesting system that compares the old version with the current version of Diablo II. The distinction is impressive. In this sense, the remaster not only did well, but, in a way, rejuvenated the game with its more polished visual aspect. Map details are well discernible, which adds to the immersion. In addition, there is dubbing in Brazilian Portuguese.

As a whole, the game is very efficient in its gameplay. In a few moments, bugs or lack of responsiveness were registered, as had been observed in the beta version do game. The biggest problem we saw in particular was an error in configuring custom commands.

In the PC version that we had access to, it became difficult to change a simple way of walking between one key and another. The game didn't seem to process very well, which led to us having to update this command every time the game was launched. Despite that, everything seemed correct.

Special emphasis on sound immersion

The game's design is superb, as we said before, but the soundtrack is one of the highlights of Diablo II Resurrected. It embraces moments of tension and struggle very well, even bringing elements of horror in some moments, such as when the place explored is a lost catacomb. Even the enemies are a little scary, especially the insectoids and large monsters.

The technical elements are well executed in general, except for the occasional obstacles. But none of this intensely detracts from the final experience, full of adventures and many discoveries. A special — and personal — piece of advice is to play this remaster in batches so it doesn't get boring if you struggle too much to advance at certain times.

balancing gameplay and narrative, Diablo II Resurrected it's more of a hit from modern remasters. While, on the other hand, the context of its launch is bitter and problematic, the game manages to deliver a meaningful experience, with interesting nuances and, above all, fun in the epic saga.

Diablo II Resurrected is available for purchase for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Battle.Net).
