REVIEW: Galaxy S25 FE exceeds expectations with great cameras and battery.

This premium, budget-friendly smartphone delivers great performance, battery life, and cameras, combined with Samsung and Google's AI. See what we think.

During the second semester, the Samsung It has a habit of releasing more affordable versions of its premium smartphones for those who want a more complete model but don't want to pay as much for it. Galaxy S25FE It can be defined as a promising device, although its launch price is not yet in line with what the other models in the Galaxy S25 line offer. See what we think.

Design

Launched with a frosted glass back that doesn't show fingerprints in various colors. Navy blue, light blue, and black. the design of the Galaxy S25FE It comes with some improvements over the Galaxy S24FEFirstly, it is lighter, now weighing 190 grams, a reduction of 24 grams compared to last year's model.

Thickness is another design factor that has changed, now being slightly thinner (7,3 mm vs 8 mm), which ultimately impacts everyday use and also gives the device a more premium look, closer to other members of the range. Galaxy S25 lineIt's impossible not to notice the elegance and robustness of the device: its sides are constructed of... sturdy metal (even though it's not the Armor Aluminum 2(from the Galaxy S25+), which stands out visually and offers enhanced protection to the back.

The model still comes with the IP68 certificationwhich ensures functionality even in case of contact with water splashes and dust, in addition to a fingerprint reader that works very well, but is still not as good as what is seen in the models. Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

When we understand the category the model belongs to, we can see that it fulfills its purpose without needing to overdo it. You get premium design, simple (but elegant) colors, and a certification that guarantees the device's functionality in case of accidents.

Fabric

galaxy s2 fe screen
Peak screen brightness is 1.900 nits (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

The screen Galaxy S25FE It's the same as last year: still the same type. OLEDIt measures 6,7 inches, delivers FHD+ resolution, and a peak brightness of 1.900 nits in HDR mode. For display protection, there is a glass cover. Gorilla Glass Victus +It offers good resistance to impacts and scratches, but purchasing a screen protector is still recommended. The change is in the refresh rate, which now ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz, directly impacting battery life as it adapts to the activity being performed.

This change seems simple, but it makes sense in everyday use, such as on the lock screen, which reduces the frame rate to just one frame per second. In videos, this reaches a maximum of 30Hz, rising to up to 120Hz in browsing and games.

The peak brightness is sufficient for good use of the device even in brightly lit environments, although it lacks the anti-reflective coating, a feature that, in my opinion, makes all the difference. I would say that the FHD+ resolution may be a bit outdated, but that's the thing: if you want/need a device with a better quality screen, you can invest in other models in the Galaxy S line, such as the Galaxy S25 Plus, which has Quad HD+ resolution.

Outdoor use is not hindered by the sun (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Those who enjoy watching series, movies, and videos will have a good visual experience, and even for high-quality games, such as... Asphalt 9 ou Destiny: Rising. The model also has support for the standard. HDR 10 +which delivers better contrast and brightness to scenes, but it's worth remembering that this will only be available on streaming services that offer content with this technology.

I understand the idea of not messing with a winning formula, but at the same time, keeping the same configurations proves that someone could still opt for last year's model, which is about R$ 2 cheaper, if the screen was their top priority.

Processor

Exynos 2400
The Exynos 2400 is present in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ (Photo: Reproduction/Samsung)

In terms of processing, the chosen one this time was... Exynos 2400, the same chip found in the base Galaxy S24 and also in Galaxy Z Flip7 FEIt is worth mentioning that the Galaxy S25FE It was launched with the full version of the chip, without the speed limitations that affected the... Galaxy S24FE, released with the Exynos 2400e.

Despite the switch to Exynos 2400I didn't notice a significant performance jump compared to the Galaxy S24 FE. The performance is solid and consistent for AAA games, such as... Fortnite, Asphalt 9 e Destiny: Rising...and for multitasking. Social networking and productivity apps run smoothly even when used simultaneously, without the operating system closing them when they go into the background.

For thermal management, a vapor chamber 13% larger than the one present in Galaxy S24FE was included. This minimizes potential overheating problems. However, when the device is pushed to its limits, whether during long gaming sessions or recording high-resolution content, the Galaxy S25FE It can get hot. The temperature isn't so high that it's unusable, but it's noticeable.

System and interface

Galaxy S25 FE system data
(Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

The unit we received initially came with Android 15, but an update to... Android 16via interface One UI 8It was made available the week after the launch. Those familiar with Samsung devices won't notice any major differences, as it retains familiar features such as the use of Routines, high customization, and the variety of system resources.

The same promise of operating system and security patch updates as other devices in the Galaxy S25 line is present here, guaranteeing support for up to [number of years]. seven yearsConsidering the initial launch with Android 16 (after the first update), the device will have support up to Android 23.

It's important to highlight the good integration with other Samsung devices: camera functions can be controlled by... Galaxy WatchThe audio quality is enhanced by using some... Galaxy Buds and connectivity with Galaxy Books It is fluid, allowing all the devices in the ecosystem to work well together.

Now bar of the Galaxy S25 FE
The Now Bar on the Galaxy S25 FE can also be used on the lock screen (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

A Now BarWith the new interface, it finally gained support for more apps, which I find useful: now it's possible to track a trip on Google Maps, flights (via Samsung Wallet), as well as control media and use the watch's stopwatch.

My only reservation is that she still looks very "shriveled up," and could make better use of the screen by adopting a "pill" style, similar to what... Apple's Dynamic Island It already does. Still, what it delivers is better than the lack of resources.

Now bar of the Galaxy S25 FE
Now Bar supports up to two apps at the same time (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Already Now BriefNow Brief, which attempts to act as an AI-powered assistant, still fails to be indispensable. Many people already use dedicated apps for their tasks, and the need to open Now Brief causes it to go unnoticed by most users.

Now brief of the Galaxy S25 FE
Now Brief might even go unnoticed (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Furthermore, the recommendations are excessively basic: in two weeks of use, the music suggestions were limited to artists I already listen to, rather than new releases or artists with a similar profile. There's room for improvement here. It's helpful to see a summary of health data and weather information, but it would be more valuable to see route tips and recommendations that actually analyze the user's content consumption.

Artificial Intelligence and Apps

Galaxy there
Galaxy AI is fully present here (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

The known resources of Galaxy A.I. They are fully present here. One of the things I like most is the object eraser, which manages to remove several unwanted features with impressive accuracy for a smartphone. See the before and after:

A haven of boats in the calm waters of the harbor under a sunny sky, with two tourists strolling by. Close-up of a red rescue boat anchored at a concrete pier, with a clear sky and some clouds, next to a person.

I also really like the ability to create slow-motion videos just by pressing the screen for a few seconds, which is great for creating better social media posts.

Other interesting features can help specific users, such as image sketching, creating digital photos from uploaded selfies. Details like AI-powered background blurring also work well here.

And in the conversation translation mode, some errors have finally been corrected. Now, Galaxy AI (when using the Samsung keyboard as standard) can understand the context of the sentence. In the example below, a greeting, "How are you?", was translated without errors.

Galaxy AI interpreter mode
(Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

As a writer, the Samsung Notes powered by AI is one of the best apps that... Samsung It could have been created (and thankfully it was). Besides summarizing notes, creating complete texts, and transcribing voice files, it can also translate PDF files, making it a great everyday assistant.

the keyboard of Samsung It's also better with Android 16: in addition to translating phrases in real time, you can ask for help writing captions for social media and also write emails with different intonations, without having to open the Gemini or ChatGPT app.

Audio-to-text transcription done in Voice recorder It works well most of the time, but it's worth noting that for longer files, you'll need to listen to the file to avoid errors. It's like this: a Galaxy A.I. It may still require some human intervention to get the perfect file, but it can be a very useful tool to have on a daily basis.

Gemini Live can be useful on various occasions (Photo: Press Release/Samsung)

Finishing with the Gemini LiveThe feature that was sold as a "plus" on the smartphone, the camera can be used to see what the user is also seeing, allowing for more contextualized responses. And the Circle to Search Now it can even be used in games, so you can find out how to pass a level or get information about characters without closing the app.

Rear cameras

Galaxy S25 FE rear cameras
The Galaxy S25 FE's rear cameras are the same as last year's, but post-processing is improved (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

A Samsung It retained the same set of rear cameras as Galaxy S24FE for the 2025 model. Thus, the Galaxy S25FE offers: a lens 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization., One 12 MP ultrawide and a 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoomThere is no dedicated macro sensor, but the ultrawide sensor simulates this function digitally.

The main camera is best suited for capturing content close to the object/person. It delivers good contrast in sunlight, but struggles a bit on cloudy days. At night, post-processing correction compensates, even with the flash off, but I noticed that the edges still show some noise. In low-light environments, the flash should be activated for better results.

The 12MP ultrawide lens is a good option for those who want to take landscape photos, with a wider aperture and good detail capture. Its color reproduction is also accurate, although there is a slight "washing out" effect in green tones. This error can be corrected in the camera's own editing app. SamsungHowever, these are details that most users don't notice.

The telephoto lens continues to draw attention: the 3x optical zoom delivers quality close to that seen in other Galaxy S models, although noise is present when the zoom exceeds 5x. For capturing distant content, the post-processing and good physical hardware form a great combination, which has been further enhanced by the work done by the processor.

We also have the excellent portrait mode, which delivers good results even when dealing with complex strands of hair, a common problem in lower-category models. With good lighting, it's possible to obtain satisfactory results with excellent color tones.

In video recording, the model films in resolution 8K at 30 FPS or 4K/UHD at 60 FPS, with good stabilization and very interesting audio capture. The sound can be corrected via AI in the Gallery for greater focus on music or voice, with wind noise reduction (although the result may sound a bit artificial). But the microphone already does a good job of noise cancellation during recording.

For those seeking a versatile camera setup without having to pay the full price of other models in the Galaxy S line, the Galaxy S25 FE's rear lenses continue to deliver a good shooting experience, with post-processing being the finishing touch for success.

Frontal camera

Galaxy S25 FE front camera
The front camera stands out for delivering great selfies, even at night (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

In terms of cameras, the front-facing lens was the big generational innovation. Samsung The 10MP lens was replaced with a 12MP lens, which allows for better selfies even at night. The main difference, which seems basic, is improved photos with better detail capture outdoors, excellent contrast, and without the washed-out effect usually seen in previous generations.

At night, with the help of screen brightness and post-processing, selfies deliver quite impressive quality, as you can see below. In the image captured below, I only used the screen flash.

And for those who like to record videos with the front lens, it can capture videos in 4K quality at up to 60 FPS, with good audio capture from... Samsung already known, even in very windy environments.

The Galaxy S25 FE's front camera exceeded my expectations by delivering more than just a simple camera for selfies or vlogs. The change, which seemed minor at first glance, further improved the experience for those who enjoy capturing all kinds of content.

Audio

(Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Although the smartphone appears to have only one audio output, stereo sound comes from two points: at the bottom, near the USB-C port, and from the earpiece speaker (which is crucial for the stereo effect), filling the room nicely.

Special audio features are also present, such as support for Dolby AtmosHowever, you need to have headphones compatible with this technology, such as the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, to enjoy the full experience.

Memory and storage

Galaxy S25 FE memory data
It's possible to have up to 16 GB of RAM (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Despite having been launched internationally with options for 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GBSamsung has chosen to launch the Galaxy S25 FE in Brazil with only 256 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM. Last year, there were three internal storage options (128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB) and the same 8 GB of RAM, so there are no changes here. As is standard for the Galaxy S line, the model still lacks a memory card slot.

For those who need a bit more performance, it's possible to use up to 8 GB of internal storage as RAM, totaling 16 GB just to prevent applications from crashing or requiring a device restart at some point.

Connectivity

The device has a complete connectivity suite (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

The Galaxy S25 FE comes equipped WiFi 6E, which offers access to 6 GHz networks for lower interference, and Bluetooth 5.4 for more efficient low-energy connections. It also features NFC for contactless payments and other functions. The model also connects to 5G networks and supports up to two eSIMs.

Tickets

In addition to the physical SIM card slots, there is only one USB-C 3.2 connection that can be used for charging or wired headphones.

Battery and charging

Galaxy s25 fe recharging
The model will need to be recharged at least once a day (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

The battery has received a slight generational increase of 200 mAh and now has... 4.900 mAh, with the manufacturer promising up to 28 hours of continuous video playback.

During a 5-hour hands-on test capturing photos and videos, with recordings made in 4K and various rear and front camera shots (the same scenario seen in this post), the model's battery dropped from 100% to 65%.

In daily use, it was necessary to recharge the device once a day so that it would have some power left by the end of the night, a usage similar to what I found in... Galaxy s25 ultra, which is my main cell phone.

But the biggest news is the charging support. 45W wired fast motorThis is something that, for example, isn't even present in the base Galaxy S25. Samsung states that, with the most powerful charger (45W), the device reaches 60% battery in 30 minutes.

Important: You will need to purchase the 45W power adapter separately from the Samsung website, as the charger included in the box only supports [specific power supply]. 25WThe same 25W limit applies to wireless charging.

The model also supports Wireless Powershare up to 15W for sending power to other wireless devices, such as smartwatches and headphones. The total charging time, using the 25W charger included in the box, is approximately 1h30m (0% to 100%).

Price and availability

The Galaxy S25 FE was launched in Brazil with a suggested retail price of... 5.499 BRL, same price as the Galaxy S24FE It started being sold here in 2024. See the options we found online three months after its launch:

Conclusion

O Galaxy S25FE brings a series of interesting upgrades which solidify its place as a strong option in Samsung's portfolio. battery life It demonstrates a remarkable evolution compared to its predecessor, promising more peace of mind for daily use, while the frontal camera received the attention it deserved, ensuring selfies and higher definition video calls.

Furthermore, the inclusion of the acclaimed Galaxy AI's artificial intelligence features - like the Circle to Search And the transcription assistant – puts the S25 FE on par with top-of-the-line models in terms of smart features. However, the biggest dilemma for this model lies in its price, as finding the right price is the deciding factor.

Galaxy S25 FE taking photos
(Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Despite being a smartphone Interesting, complete, and competent. The Galaxy S25 FE faces stiff internal competition. With its launch price still above R$ 4.000The more attentive consumer may come across promotions offering the Galaxy S24 Ultra, a true... flagshipin the same price range. This price proximity weakens the value proposition of the S25 FE.

However, the device offers interesting advantages, such as seven years of operating system updatesGood battery life and excellent screen quality, guaranteeing long-term longevity. The verdict is clear: the Galaxy S25 FE. It's worth it and it's a smart purchase.but only when its value is around R$3.000.

If you have a Galaxy S22 (base or plus) or a Galaxy S23 FE, upgrading makes sense, especially considering the improvements in camera, battery, and more years of operating system updates. But upgrading isn't worthwhile if you have a Galaxy S24 FE, which is currently being sold for around R$ 2.500.

The Galaxy S25 FE is a complete device, featuring excellent cameras, an improved battery, and seven years of system updates. However, its launch price of over R$4.000 is prohibitive, competing with flagship phones on sale. It only becomes worthwhile and a smart purchase when the price drops to around R$3.000.
