A Samsung launched the Galaxy z flip7 in July 2025 with a larger external screen and a processor manufactured in-house, instead of the traditional chip from QualcommBut is the change really worth the investment? Check out our full review of the foldable smartphone now:
Design

In terms of design, the Samsung made the Z Flip7 wider and thinner compared to the Galaxy Z Flip6. The 2025 device saw a slight 0,4mm thickness reduction, measuring 6,5mm when unfolded and 13,7mm when folded.

The weight had a practically imperceptible change: the Z Flip7 marks 188 grams, compared to the Z Flip187's 6 grams. In everyday use, this variation doesn't make a difference, maintaining the same feeling of lightness and elegance from the moment the device is taken out of the box.

For those who like more different colors, it was released in green, black and a shade of coral and dark blue. Samsung sent the black variant to showmetech, which stands out for its minimalism and serves as the perfect accessory for any occasion. See all the variations below:

Regarding the certification details, we have the same as last year: it comes with IP48K, meaning it can withstand submersion in up to 1,5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes and offers protection against dust and solid objects up to 1 millimeter thick. Two fingerprint readers (one on the on-screen power button and another on the larger screen) are available on the model.
the use of Galaxy z flip7 In everyday use, it remains similar to previous years. Wherever I've been, it's attracted attention for its elegant design and very light weight. The hinge, which allows the device to be completely closed, contributes to the feeling of sturdiness, although some people remain hesitant about opting for a Flip smartphone.

Its matte back is charming: it prevents fingerprints from showing and can even be used to recharge devices via induction, which won't be used for all parts of the day, but is also nice to have.
external screen

The big news for 2025 Galaxy z flip7 is the increase in the external screen, going from 3,4″ to 4,1″. A great addition for those who would like to see information faster on the smaller screen without having to unfold the smartphone, but something already done by Motorola since 2024, with the Moto Razr 50, for example.
It's easier to watch videos than YouTube, even though the camera bumps are still visible. With this increased screen size, we also have the ability to place up to four widgets on the external display, which is helpful for those who want to have everything in view without having to swipe too much.
This smaller display has a 120Hz refresh rate and 2.600 nits peak brightness, allowing you to see all the information without straining your eyes.

Having a 4,1″ screen is a huge success that Samsung It took a while to do, but I'm glad I did. The big highlight is actually the use of the assistant Gemini on the smaller screen, which can be truly useful in many aspects of daily life, even if it's not "seeing" the same thing as you with the support of the front cameras. We'll talk more about this later in this review.
I already really liked the external screen of the Galaxy z flip6, but having a larger screen makes it even more dynamic to use, eliminating the need to unfold the device to view simpler information, such as changing the song, checking the weather, starting a voice recording, and more. Great choice by Samsung here.
Internal screen

The internal display is also larger, reaching 6,85 inches with FHD+ resolution (1080x2640). The 2024 model was 6,7 inches, which was already great, so the good visual experience is maintained in the 2025 model. The refresh rate has not changed and remains at 120Hz on the larger screen, and 3.000 nits of peak brightness are available.
Although the bezels are quite noticeable, as someone who's been testing foldable smartphones for a while, this isn't a problem for me, but it's a warning for anyone switching from a regular smartphone to a foldable. At the same time, these are details you tend to forget as the days go by (and sometimes not even notice at all).
The detail that impressed me most about this model is the disappearance of the crease in the screen when it's fully unfolded. Previously pointed out as a potential issue for those unfamiliar with it, the crease no longer exists, and you can now use the model without noticing the crease in the middle of the screen when it's activated and the brightness is at maximum. Check it out:

Finally, the large screen delivers the traditional smartphone experience we're used to, so you can simply unfold the screen to access all the apps. The idea of having a versatile smartphone is even more realized here.
Processor

For the first time in its history, the Samsung placed a self-made processor in one of its foldable smartphones. The one chosen for the Galaxy z flip7 it was the Exynos 2400, also present in the Galaxy S24 e Galaxy S24+. Many people even thought that not opting for Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy was a big mistake. But I disagree.
O Exynos 2400 It's far from being a bad processor, and it actually handles all the possible activities a user of a Flip-style foldable smartphone does on a daily basis. I tested it for games like Asphalt 9, even though it got a little hot after about 45 minutes of playing, the device did the job.

For years, the Samsung tries to prove that it can manufacture chips for its smartphones and end dependence on Qualcomm and the MediaTek. Therefore, this choice seemed inevitable. A model like this does not require a chip as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and opting for it would only make the final product more expensive.
Thus, although many people find the idea of the processor Exynos being more of a problem than a solution, the idea worked in practice. I also consider the choice to be very strategic: it's much cheaper for Samsung to have its own processor than to enter into an even larger, multi-million dollar partnership with Qualcomm for a device that doesn't need that much performance power.
System and interface

Until last year, all devices launched with the same version of Android as the Galaxy S of that year. This changed in 2025, and both the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 arrived on the market with the Android 16 via One UI 8 interface.
Among the new features, we have greater interaction with the external screen of the Flip, which now allows up to 20 applications to be placed on the smaller screen.

At the foldable launch event, Samsung highlighted the full use of the assistant Gemini on the external screen and, as a great “icing on the cake”, the cameras show a real-time preview in Gemini Live mode. Like this here:

Use Gemini On the smaller screen, it's a great help for those who don't want to draw attention, but considering that it also needs to speak, it won't be as discreet to use. At the same time, having access to the personal assistant to answer everyday questions, as if it were in a window, has its uses.

I was also able to use the Google Maps on the smaller screen without any interface errors. Four other apps run fine here natively: WhatsApp, YouTube, gmail and, interestingly, the Netflix. Yes, just those five. I still don't understand why Samsung It still leaves these native options on the smaller screen instead of making all applications easier to use.
To have more options, you will need to use the Good Lock, activate Labs mode and then place the shortcut Launcher, via MultiStar module, on the smaller screen. Additionally, you'll also need to manually select apps, with a limit of twelve.

While it's nice to see the smaller screen finally running all the apps installed on the system, having to rely on a workaround can be a bit tedious. What gets me here is: why didn't the manufacturer integrate this directly into the system to avoid additional steps for the user?
Despite this, the device will be updated for seven years, reaching Android 23, also receiving seven years of security packages. Ultimately, you end up making the investment for seven years, with access to the latest updates as soon as they become available.
Galaxy A.I.

All known features of Galaxy A.I. from last year are still here, but a slight improvement was noticed that makes the results even more assertive. I usually say that Samsung It has the best AI platform on the market and this is proven with every test carried out.
Items that worked in the first versions of Galaxy AI are back even better: intruder remover and slow motion video maker by pressing a video at normal speed are still good here. See the before and after intruder remover:
It's also worth highlighting the feature that adapts the lock screen photo according to the weather in the city you're in: if it's hot, there will be a slight increase in brightness; if it's snowing, a snow effect will appear on the screen.

Among the new features compared to last year's model is AI-powered audio correction, which can prioritize voice and remove noise for better content, all while requiring only an internet connection.
One thing I haven't used much, but anyone who travels will love, is the app. Interpreter, developed by Samsung. Simply select your native language and the language the other person speaks. Then, the phrase or text typed on the internal screen will appear on the external screen.

There is a conversation translation feature in Google Meet and Zoom, in addition to being available on WhatsApp and in the app Posts. However, it is clear that the same problem as Galaxy z flip6 still persists: the Galaxy A.I. You still cannot fully understand the context of the messages, and some translations may be incorrect, so you need to be careful when using the function.

As Smart Notes They're here to provide writing support, and besides being available in Samsung Notes, they can be used on the keyboard to write full texts, including more diverse approaches. The same functionality also formats, transcribes audio (with some errors), and even translates texts.

You know those pages where we scroll and scroll to find a simple piece of information? This task can be left in the past, because Navigation Assistant, integrated into Samsung internet browser, creates more practical or detailed summaries in small bullet points so you can access what you need in seconds. Check out these summaries created from texts right here on Showmetech, which could be copied or even translated into English:

The most negative comment goes to Now Brief, the resource of Samsung that brings together personalized information on a single screen using AI, but which still often goes unnoticed throughout the day.

It's an interesting idea in theory, but it urgently needs to be more integrated into the system, such as sending notifications about unanswered emails, understanding message context to help with other tasks, or offering more functionality.
Cameras
external

The cameras were a detail that Samsung also didn't touch: we have a 50 MP main lens wide type and a lens 12 MP ultrawide present on the external screen. See some photos:

There's no telephoto lens, so you'll have to rely on digital zoom for longer shots. This isn't bad either, and it delivers decent quality for social media. The photo below was taken with 2x zoom:

Nighttime photos also turned out well, and even when the environment wasn't favorable, the torch effect on the screen can save you in darker environments.

And when you have a good location to take photos at night, the camera can deliver good results with the help of post-processing. But ultimately, the ambient lighting will be crucial for you to get good shots. Here are some results:

Video recording, up to 4K at 60 FPS, is also very assertive and features incredible stabilization, along with good audio capture. A small interface detail that can help with content creation is a red highlight around the cameras, which signals when a video starts recording. Here's how it looks:

And we've had a small change to the camera app's interface that allows you to control the zoom with your thumb when the device is in webcam mode. This has already been seen on foldable smartphones. Motorola, but something good to have here at Samsung Also.
selfie
The front lens on the inside remains the same as last year: a 10 MP wide camera that records in 4K resolution at up to 60 FPS. While there weren't any physical changes, I could see some software changes.

The first of these addresses a detail I've been talking about for years: the correction of washouts on people with darker skin in portrait mode. Post-processing finally stopped altering my skin tone.

In good lighting, the camera Selfie It can take group photos that highlight details without major errors. However, the same performance can't be expected when the environment isn't conducive to good capture. With the right conditions, the results are quite satisfactory.
The lack of significant changes does not mean that the foldable device Samsung delivers poor photos, but the next generation already demands an upgrade to justify the higher price. The inclusion of a lens telephoto it would be interesting in a Galaxy z flip, and even if this does not happen, updating to the new generation is necessary.
Memory and storage

Memory is one factor that hasn't changed compared to last year's model: 256 GB ou 512 GB internal storage and 12 GB of RAM. The model can still take advantage of 12 GB of internal storage as RAM Plus, but the 12 GB is more than enough for your day to day.
Another rule remains in this new generation: it is not possible to use a memory card.
Connectivity

The device offers full support for networks 5G, ensuring ultra-fast download and upload speeds, as well as minimal latency. One of the main highlights is the inclusion of WiFi 7 (802.11be), which provides faster, more stable and efficient connections, especially in environments with many connected devices.
Furthermore, the Galaxy z flip7 comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, which improves wireless audio quality with lower power consumption and greater connection stability.
The device also features NFC for contactless payments and quick pairing, a robust set of geolocation systems and a port USB-C 3.2 for fast charging and high-speed data transfer.
Battery and charging

An extra battery is never a reason to complain, so it's worth highlighting the 300 mAh increase compared to last year's model, totaling 4.300 mAh, is significant. I used the device for two weeks and it remained active for about 4 hours straight when connected to the networks 5G, only needing one charge during the day. On Wi-Fi, this usage reached 6 hours.
A Samsung made no changes to charging, and the device supports up to 25W wired and 15W wireless. The recharge time with the power supply provided in the box is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, going from 15% to 100%. The model also supports reverse charging. 5W, allowing you to recharge other devices wirelessly.
Accessories

the box of Galaxy z flip7 It comes with basic items so you can start using the device as soon as you turn it on. Are they:
- Chip tray eject key
- Instruction manual
- 25W charger
- USB-C cable
Price and availability

O Galaxy z flip7 arrived in Brazil at the end of July with a suggested price starting at R$8.199, an increase of R$200 compared to the suggested price of the Galaxy Z Flip6.
While this review was being produced, the model is still around R$6, but there are options for operators such as Living that allow you to buy the device in its 512 GB version for R$3.999 when you sign up for the 300 GB Family plan. See more options:
- On Amazon, the version of 256 GB costs R$7.379,10, while the version of 512 GB costs R$8.199
- In Magazine Luiza, the version of 512 GB costs R$ 7.379,10;
- On Mercado Livre, the version of 512 GB costs R$6.599.
I'd say R$4 would be the best value for this model, and it should reach that price point at some point. Its main competitor in Brazil is the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, currently selling for R$8.999 on the official website. Motorola.
Conclusion

O Galaxy z flip7 consolidates to Samsung as a benchmark in foldable design, but it does so from a comfort zone that raises alarm bells. The company demonstrates dominance, but is slow in implementing crucial innovations, such as the functional expansion of the external screen, something competitors have been exploring for two generations.
The update focuses almost entirely on the expanded external display to 4,1 inches and the integration of the Gemini, leaving the base design, camera setup, and storage identical to the previous model. This strategy makes upgrading from the Z-Flip6 a niche decision, while the migration of Z-Flip5 is significantly more advantageous.
In this scenario, an unexpected competitor emerges from within Samsung: Galaxy Z Flip7 FEFor those looking to enter the foldable world without paying the full price of the flagship model, it becomes an attractive option. With a similarly powerful processor and all the same AI features, including Gemini, its only major concession is a smaller external screen, but with the same camera setup as the more expensive model. The price difference, however, is decisive: it can be found for around R$3 less than the official suggested retail price. flip7, making the cost-benefit almost unbeatable.
So the verdict is clear: the Z-Flip7 It is a cutting-edge device, but it will only justify the investment for most consumers when its market price reflects its true position: that of competent refinement, not a generational leap.
