Gamer-themed products are especially targeted by the general public of computers. Featuring modern looks and often multiple lights RGB that make the experience unique, in addition to excellent build quality, they are extremely desired. Will the mechanical gaming keyboard HyperX Alloy Origins 60 also fall into this category? See in our review:

Basic design and operation

The RGB lights give the keyboard a very premium design.

Out of the box, the first notable feature of the HyperX Alloy Origins Its size smaller than common. This is already indicated in the name of the device, where the “60” means that it is 60% the size of a normal keyboard. However, its diminutive size doesn't make it look like an inferior product to others, thanks to the excellent build quality.

The keyboard body is made of aluminum, giving it a heavy but aesthetically pleasing feel. the keys of HyperX Alloy Origins are made of PBT, considered the best material for keyboards Gamers, with companies selling sets of them to users to improve their common keyboards. In addition, they are extremely resistant, which guarantees good durability even with constant use of them in games or even at work.

The small size of the keyboard is initially frightening and, I confess, especially for me, who have rather large hands, it was a somewhat complicated process to adapt. In addition to muscle memory, I had to force my arms to keep them in keyboard space. However, in about 3 days of use, I was used to it and the process became normal and comfortable, even for writing, not just playing games. The only point that I still have some difficulty is that some keys, instead of having their own compartment, are allocated next to others, as in the case of the F keys, which are next to the numeric keys. By pressing the FN button, the user can switch between their two functions, but it is not very intuitive, at least in my opinion.

HyperX NGenuity allows users to customize how lights behave on the keyboard.

The keyboard connects to the PC via a USB-C port on the back, and it can be adjusted to up to 3 different angles from the feet on the bottom of the device. Its RGB lights are well implemented, and can be extensively customized from the HyperX NGenuity, which allows users to create their own patterns and designs for colors and transitions.

The lack of keys for macro settings, however, is something notable in a product that is sold to the gamer audience. The lack of them can be a deciding factor in the purchase for certain users, but for those who don't care about it, they will have a fantastic experience.

performance in games

As responsive as a professional arcade controller.

Counting on switches HyperX Red, HyperX is extremely responsive, allowing users to press the same key multiple times and the game recognize them, rather than absorbing some of the key presses. Its smaller size also makes it more comfortable than other keyboards when muscle memory is adapted, with more room to rest your arms.

I tested the keyboard in a few games, but two stood out to me. In Street Fighter V, I've never had such responsiveness on a keyboard to do hadouken like with him, being able to compare his execution with a professional arcade controller that I normally use. Already in Call of Duty Warzoneand, it was fantastic control of movement, stabs and squats, with every button press I gave being recognized.

The HyperX Red switch is a fantastic mechanical keyboard switch.

Regardless of the game you play with it, it is very important to note that the expected durability of the keys is 80 million keystrokes. It will last a long time if you buy it.

Finally, if you want to use it for work, especially for writing, keep in mind that the noise of the mechanical keys can be annoying. I particularly got used to it, but I imagine that especially in collective work environments it can be especially uncomfortable. As a home-officer, I just have to deal with my own head, which makes the experience easier.

In addition, people may find it difficult to adapt to their smaller size. As much as it is a great keyboard, the 40% smaller size compared to common devices can confuse a lot of people. I got used to it, but I confess that in the first days of analysis, when I needed to write, I put back my old war keyboard to make fewer typing mistakes.

One last detail, which can only be from the test unit: at times when touching the metal part of the keyboard I received small shocks. I even tested if it was not a problem with the voltage of the computer, but it was not the case, being really something with the transfer of energy between the computer and keyboard. Keep an eye out if you buy one of these and, if anything, talk to the HyperX.

Conclusion

for the public gamer, HyperX Alloy Origins 60 it is a cheaper option than other keyboards and perfect for gaming. Although even more expensive than regular keyboards, the benefits offered by it certainly make it a great option for gamers. On a negative point, I really only emphasize the lack of macro keys, which, as mentioned above, can be seen as something that makes it unattractive to a certain portion of the public. The product can be purchased by R$529,21 on Amazon.
