Review: Epson Ecotank Printers – Affordable All-in-Ones with Ink Tank

Epson ecotank l355

A Epson recently launched the line of printers ecotank. Unlike traditional models, where you buy one or several ink cartridges, in models with a tank, the user buys refills of specific colors and “fills up” the printer, paying less for it. We tested the model Epson Ecotank L355. See the result:

First, the economy:

According to the manufacturer, each refill can print up to 4 thousand pages in black ou 6,5 color pages. The cost of printing with a refill is approximately BRL 0,01 per page Black e BRL 0,03 per color page.

Comparing this printing cost with that of a conventional cartridge (R$ 0,08 per black page), there is a savings of up to 8 times in ink consumption.

The ink kit compatible with these printers has prices ranging from 44,99 BRL (domestic models, with 4 bottles) and 49,99 BRL (Professional photo quality models, with 6 bottles).

Design:

With an elegant design and a compact size, the Epson L355 all-in-one It is perfect for home use. It has black color, with black piano details.

The model looks similar to traditional printers from Epson, with a small difference: a side ink tank, where the inks are located. It is removable, to facilitate handling (filling of paints).

Print quality:

The model has the technology Micro Piezo, patented by Epson, which provides precision in ink drop size and, consequently, high resolution and definition in text and image prints.

The print heads of L355 produce documents up to 5.760×1.440dpi, the largest in the segment. This ensures that the images are of higher quality than other printers of the same size.

 

Built-in WiFi:

A L355 also has connection Wi-Fi integrated, allowing sharing with other users who are connected to the rede sem fio and access to the application iPrint, developed by its own Epson, which makes it easy to use on tablets and smartphones.

Other models:

The line EcoTank is composed of the domestic models (EcoTank L110, L210, L355 and L455) and business-oriented models (EcoTank L555, L1300, WorkForce M105 e WorkForce M205).

The first (EcoTank L110) is a compact printer, while the L210 is an all-in-one with the ability to turn scanned images into editable text.

The models L355, L455, L555, WorkForce M105 e WorkForce M205 have connection Wi-Fi, door USB 2.0 (for traditional wired connection), automatic paper feeder and, in the case of Workforce M205, works as a high performance black and white copier and scanner.

The models L800, L1300 e L1800 are for professionals working with photography, architecture, CAD and maps. In these printers, more ink colors are present (6 colors – L800 e L1800), with light cyan and light magenta tones in addition to the traditional set of black, magenta, cyan and yellow. The result is a wealth of print detail.

Finally, the EcoTank L1300 print even on A3 format has two black print heads, offering more speed and greater autonomy, and the model L1800 has greater color fidelity, in addition to presenting a yield of up to 8,7 black photos e 1,5 color photos.

A Epson Ecotank L355 is on sale in Brazilian stores with prices ranging from 689,00 BRL (via Submarino) 728,00 BRL (via Wallmart) to 799,00 BRL (via American stores).
