REVIEW: LG xboom bounce enhances sound with AI and surprises

The speakers of the LG are excellent and striking, but you already know that. The difference in 2025 is that they received a special touch from the American rapper will.i.am. In this review, we will show you everything about the LG xboom bounce by will.i.am to see if it fits your interests, uses, and, of course, your budget. Come with us!

Design

To begin our analysis of the LG xboom bounce, we can say that it's a small Bluetooth speaker that can be easily transported anywhere. At 27cm wide and 10cm high, and weighing only 1,42kg, it's one of the coolest speakers to fit into any space.

On the front of the speaker are two 20mm dome tweeter units. Additionally, the red "xboom" logo is centered, and on the bottom, two small feet allow the speaker to stand upright. On the back of the device, in addition to the "LG" logo, there's a USB-C port for charging. The sides and back feature a non-removable handle for easy portability.

Finally, we have the top section. In addition to containing two woofers for bass, this is where we control the bounce. There are seven buttons, including: on/off, volume -, volume +, play/pause, bluetooth, Party Link e MY button (❤️). Here we have everything we need in a speaker of this level and the controls work super well.

It is also worth mentioning that this speaker features the line's already famous lights. xboomThey serve both to deliver a more lively and interactive experience as well as an informative one. For example, when we adjust the volume, the white light turns on.

The speaker's body is made entirely of a braided silicone that resembles carpet. It's quite attractive to look at, and because it's all black, it doesn't get dirty. Besides the speaker itself, the box also includes manuals and a USB-C cable.

For the more clumsy, the LG xboom bounce by will.i.am It has a US military durability certification, also known as MIL-STD-810H. This certification guarantees resistance to drops, water, and even high temperatures.

Audio quality

Although it is a small speaker, the LG xboom bounce by will.i.am It's quite powerful, featuring, as mentioned, two front-facing woofers. In short, you can listen to your music at a high volume and without distortion, which is as expected for a speaker of this size.

We tested various musical styles and the result was excellent sound quality, both in the mids, highs, and lows. However, this isn't the kind of equipment where the floor will shake when listening to a bass-heavy song. But that takes away from the speaker's merits. LG? Not at all.

We used it in two ways: conventionally for listening to music and also as a sort of "soundbar" for a gaming session. For music listening, the speaker performed well in all aspects and across all genres tested. It's worth noting that the volume always stayed around 60% and never exceeded that.

For the other type of use, it's far from being something like a soundbar, but it can be a good solution, especially considering that Smart TVs have very simple sound outputs. While using it this way doesn't offer all the power that a dedicated device offers, the experience is, indeed, quite interesting.

As an additional, if you have another model xboom At home, you can connect the two so they're synchronized and with stereo audio. It seems like a cool idea, especially at parties where you and your friend can combine your speakers for a shared experience, for example.

App and Features

A xboom bounce by will.i.am brings with it several functions that can be used and customized through the app LG ThinQ. In previous models, the app used was LG X BOOM, but perhaps to better fit the connected home proposal, the LG has chosen to put them all in the same app from now on. It is available for Android e iPhone (iOS).

Once you have set up the speaker in the app LG ThinQ, in the "device" tab, you'll find the speaker. Tapping on it gives you a range of options. Visually, we have a battery marker at the top, as well as quick access to the party link, Sound Effect and button Hang up.

O party link allows you to configure the speaker in Dual Mode (connect another speaker for stereo sound) or, Multi Mode (connects multiple xboom speakers at once). It's an experience we weren't able to test because we didn't have other devices, but it should make all the difference.

Em Sound Effect, you can customize the sound and make it your own. There are five options: Standard to focus on the best sound; Bass Boost to optimize sound quality in music; Voice Enhance to better and clearer distinguish voices; AI Sound (which we'll get into in more detail later) and, finally, Personalized, where those who understand the subject best can control every detail.

This screen also brings us a sliding menu to control the volume remotely that goes from 0 to 30. We can also configure the MY ❤️ Button, which allows you to easily access your favorite playlists in the app. LGThis takes us to the tab Content, in which a collection of sounds entitled “healing therapy” are included. You can download them, create a playlist, and favorite them for easy access via the speaker's dedicated button. xboomPersonally, we don't see many advantages to this button, but since it doesn't replace anything, it doesn't bother us either.

AI resources

The big difference between the new models xboom by will.i.am is the partnership with the rapper will.i.am, who has worked with this model from the beginning. He applied his AI expertise to bring some new developments here: AI Sound, AI Lightning e AI Calibration.

In the sound effects settings, we have the option AI sound, one of our favorites. When we choose it, the speaker identifies, through frequencies, the type of content being transmitted and adapts it for the best experience. The new speakers offer up to nine special modes: five party modes, three ambient modes, and one voice mode.

Below that we have the options of LightingWe can turn them on or off, as well as choose the color movement and the colors themselves. In addition to the seven standard color customizations, the new feature is AI Lightning, which synchronizes the speaker lights according to the music, podcast or movie playing.

Finally, we have the AI Calibration which, through the use of AI, makes the device calibrate the sound based on the environment you are using it in. xboom bounce. The idea is actually cool, but we admit that we didn't see a big difference with the calibration being done here.

Connectivity

A xboom bounce is a speaker exclusively for wireless use. It comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, one of the latest versions, and this ensures a fast, strong connection on multiple devices simultaneously.

In fact, it is compatible with the Auracast, a new Bluetooth sharing standard that, in the case of xboom, makes it easier to connect one speaker to another and also expands their signal, avoiding audio failures.

Physically, this speaker only has a USB-C port for charging, so there's no need to put MicroSD cards, auxiliary cables or microphones in here.

Battery

A LG highlights the possibility of up to 30 hours of continuous playback with this speaker. These tests were conducted with the volume at 50%, voice enhancement activated, and no lighting. Considering these facts, its performance is excellent.

Here, usage was almost always around 50-60% volume, but with the added bonus of having the lights on. We didn't test for 30 hours straight, but rather at alternating times. Using an average of four hours a day, it reached 20% volume in five days, resulting in an average of 20 hours total.

Considering that, in our tests, we used the speaker both for listening to music and as a TV speaker, even with the lights on, we found the result quite interesting. While we needed more time, it's not like it takes too long to charge, as it takes three hours to reach 100%. A good amount of time to offer this much playback time.

Availability and price

A xboom bounce by will.i.am arrived in Brazil at the end of June 2025 with a suggested value of R$1.249,00.

A LG xboom bounce It's an excellent-quality speaker, especially for those seeking a portable experience. Furthermore, its sound features and ease of use through the app offer a wide range of possibilities, both in terms of sound quality and aesthetics.

For those looking for a ground-shaking experience, this isn't the answer, but if your goal is to have crystal-clear sound in any genre of music and don't want to take up too much space, or even don't care about such a high volume, this might be the option you were looking for.
