A Samsung launched the monitor last September Odyssey 3D 27″This new gaming monitor offers several interesting configurations, but its main highlight is its ability to generate a 3D effect without the use of glasses. Is it worth investing in this new technology? What can it run on? These and other questions will be answered in our full review. Join us!
Design

Anyone who glances at the exterior of Samsung's new Odyssey monitor won't even notice that it features 3D sensors. It does have a bit more bezel at the top and bottom to accommodate these sensors, but it still boasts a very attractive design that's not unlike other monitors. It's 27 inches, which, at least in the setup used for this review, was at its limit.
It also comes with a very sturdy and attractive base. Besides ensuring the monitor's stability, it comes with a height control system, excellent for giving the user more control. For those who like to tilt the screen, it only tilts upward. Attaching the base is simple and requires only a few screws for installation.

Another cool thing is that the base has a hole in the back, which is where the monitor's ports are. This makes cable management much easier. Colored LEDs are placed on the bottom to enhance the monitor's "gamer" look.
It's not thin and weighs about 500g. I don't consider it a giant monitor, but it's not small either, so I recommend measuring your space and its specifications before considering purchasing it, especially if you intend to use it with the stand, as it makes it take up even more space. On the back, in addition to the ports, it has a button that controls all the monitor's settings.
The box contains a lot of items. It includes the monitor, the base parts with the necessary screws, an HDMI cable, a DisplayPort cable, and a dedicated cable to activate the 3D effects.
Fabric

O Odyssey 3D is a monitor with resolution 4K (3,840 x 2,160), IPS technology and flat pattern. It has 27 inches in 16:9 format and is compatible with the technology HDR10 + for movies and games. sRGB coverage here is 99%, good enough for work, although not the best, and it has a 165Hz refresh rate with a 1ms (GtG) response time, compatible with Nvidia G-sync e AMD FreeSync.
Considering these specs, it's safe to say this is a great monitor for those who enjoy gaming and also need to work with it. However, what really stands out about it is its glasses-free 3D capabilities, and in my opinion, the price to pay for that is too high. Let's do a quick analysis here.
The gamer, especially from the PC world, who is going to buy a new monitor to play his competitive game (Valorant, LoL, Counter-Strike 2, etc.) just wants good resolution, the highest possible FPS, and to be able to see opponents clearly. That said, this monitor ends up going the other way, since to achieve these specs, these people won't need to invest that much in a monitor.
And that's where the 3D issue comes in. For me, at least at this point, it's a super interesting feature, but for technology enthusiasts, and for this to work, you need to love video games and technology on a similar level to experience this new feature, which, once again, isn't cheap.
And here we enter a realm that complicates things a bit. Even if you're not a competitive gamer and just want a well-paced game with good visuals and enjoy 3D, the feature only works on PC and, as we'll see later, requires a fairly powerful machine to run properly. Let's get into the details.
3D without glasses

This is the most important part of any monitor, but even more so here. After all, the biggest investment in this screen is precisely because it offers a feature not seen in other displays: the ability to enjoy 3D even without glasses. To achieve this, Samsung uses a camera system built into the monitor. What happens here is the use of eye tracking and AI algorithms to map the viewer's vision, allowing our brains to be tricked and the 3D effect created.
It's impressive what Samsung has managed to achieve here. It's weird, but at the same time, really cool when you can see things popping out of the screen without needing special glasses.
Because it's a gaming monitor, the focus is on the technology working in games, but it's possible to have the system recognize full-screen videos and attempt to apply 3D effects to them. When this works, it's surreal and makes you want to see it go further. I write "when" because this doesn't work with streaming services, for example, only YouTube, or locally downloaded videos.
3D in games

Now think about that in a gaming experience. In the ones we've been able to test, I can say it was quite different, but at least for me, tiring. The examples I'll give here are: FIST e The First Berserk: Khazan.
FIST It's a 2.5D action-platformer—meaning we always play horizontally, but with a setting that has 3D depth. This is where the monitor's 3D effects come to life. The game's settings, and especially its HUD (health bar, items, etc.), are in 3D, and they gain new effects here, making the experience more vivid and interactive. Because it's not a game natively developed for the technology, it takes some time tinkering with the settings to find one that truly works, but it's undeniable that the experience guarantees a new layer of interactivity with the game.
Already with Khazan has a slightly different story. The game is a soulslike with visual cell shading and photorealism, making it visually beautiful and perfect for applying the 3D capabilities of Samsung's monitor. The point is that the game Neople was developed natively to work in Odyssey 3D. Therefore, the effects are better worked with a native game configuration, rather than depending on the hub from Samsung, where things are simulated and requires a much higher configuration.

In this case, simply activate 3D in the game settings, and you can adjust the Focal length and DepthI have to give a shout-out to the technology implementation in this game. Even though it wasn't the ideal experience for me and caused discomfort after playing for a while, it's always really cool to feel like an element on the screen is beyond the screen and with such good quality. It's even cooler with particle effects, like explosions or magic with small floating fragments, for example.
But it's worth mentioning that the price to pay to have this "fun" enabled is quite high. After all, to activate 3D mode in games, they need to be in 4K resolution, meaning you need a well-configured machine to handle it. Here, we receive Galaxy Book 4 Ultra with the processor Intel Core Ultra 9 185 and a GPU RTX 4070 laptop.

In addition to the hardware, you will need to install the app Samsung Odyssey 3D Hub on your PC to manage compatible games. This app is 100% compatible with 3D technology, displaying the entire list of games in this format. The list of games compatible with the monitor at the time of this review is as follows:
- Atomic Heart
- Avowed
- Black Myth Wukong
- SpongeBob Cosmic Shake
- Clair obscur (coming soon)
- Darksiders Genesis
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot
- Ender Magnolia
- Epic Mickey
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
- FIST
- Ghost runner
- Grounded
- GTA III
- GTA SAN ANDREAS
- GTA VICE CITY
- Hogwarts legacy
- Layers of Fear
- Lies of P
- Little nightmares ii
- Minecraft Dungeons
- Octopath Traveler
- pacific drive
- Pal world
- Payday 3
- Persona 3 Reload
- sand land
- Senua's Saga Hellblade II
- Shin Megami Tensei Vengeance
- Silent Hill 2
- Slender the Arrival
- Smurfs Dreams
- Stalkers 2
- Stellar Blade
- Stray
- Tekken 8
- The first Berserker: Khazan
- The King of Fighters
- The Outlast Trials
- The Plucky Squire
- Visions of Mana
- wigmund
Note that only Khazan, Stellar Blade e Lies of P They have the certification seal, meaning they were developed to run natively in 3D mode. This means the other games on the list will work, but as if they were an emulation of the effect rather than a game feature, which may or may not be a good thing, requiring players to test them individually and configure them.
Audio

To complete the experience, the Odyssey 3D It comes with two built-in speakers. They have 20W of power per side and deliver impressive results. Because it's a monitor and you're rarely away from the screen, the volume and power delivered here are more than satisfactory, enough to hear everything clearly without having to blast everything all the time.
In games, the experience is also excellent, ensuring sound fidelity and once again, because it's close to the game, a very impactful volume.
Connectivity

O Odyssey 3D It's a monitor with multiple inputs, as you can see in the image above. Check out what each one means below:
- 1: USB-A (SERVICE) used to service the monitor if necessary
- 2: USB-B to connect the cable that activates the monitor's 3D mode
- 3: USB-A
- 4: HDMI Port 1
- 5: HDMI Port 2
- 6: Display Port
- 7: Energy
It is worth mentioning that this monitor does not have the system Tizen, so there's no need to control it, much less install apps directly on it. It works like a conventional monitor, with the main ports for using its technologies and connecting to your PC or console.
Price and availability
And we've reached its big moment. Odyssey 3D was officially released on 20 May 2025 by the value of R$9.689 available for purchase at the Samsung store. It can also be purchased at the following stores:
Conclusion
O Odyssey 3D It is, as the review title suggests, a perfect monitor for tech enthusiasts. The 3D mode is quite surprising and interesting, but it comes at a steep price. Anyone interested will have to pay five times the average price of a monitor with similar specs, and it's also in a world where, frankly, it doesn't matter whether a monitor has 3D or not, as I mentioned.
Maybe in a few years if other manufacturers also invest in the technology, or if Samsung manages to make the technology cheaper and improve it so it can be used in more types of media, especially movies, then I believe a monitor like this will have a much more interesting appeal.
For now, especially with gamers, I think it will be difficult to succeed, after all they are R$10.000 which, in gamer parlance, could be the upgrade he's been dreaming of and still have some money left over to buy some games. Now, if you're an enthusiast and gamer with plenty of money in your pocket, go ahead and try it out. Odyssey 3D.
