A Samsung is one of the companies that brings the most monitor options to Brazil, and with a focus on delivering maximum power to gamers, it has a line focused just for this audience. One of the models is the Odyssey g6 de 27 inches, which despite not having an OLED-type panel, manages to deliver a very complete experience that goes beyond online matches.
Equipped with operating system Tizen of 2022, it can even be used as a substitute for a console, since, through the gaming hub, allows access to the complete catalog of Xbox Game Pass. At the same time, it delivers more than a good experience for gamers. See what we found in the use made for a week.
Design
Basic, simple and useful. This is how I define the design ofthe Odyssey G6 and open the review. Launched in black, the gamer monitor box has two bases: one with two “feet” and the other circular. Personal taste will influence a lot here, but both work very well.

All the connections are located on the back, but here I would put some of them on one side for easy one-handed operation. Is it a “problem” that makes the gamer monitor unusable? Definitely not, but the use would be even easier.
Another point I would like to talk about is the possibility of adjusting the height of the screen for better use. Want to play in vertical format? Just turn the structure and the image will be adapted without any secondary configuration. This in less than two seconds.

The assembly process of this gamer monitor was also quite simple: the instruction manual is even included, but everything is pretty self-explanatory. So you won't need to invest more than 15 minutes to get everything ready to use. In this way, the Odyssey g6 it has an almost perfect design. There is a small point of improvement that would make it easier to use, but nothing that detracts from the final experience.
Connections and technologies
It is possible to see the best of both worlds in Odyssey g6. The model has two HDMI 2.1 connections (one of them with eARC support), one DisplayPort and others two USB-A connections. We also have: a LAN port for direct connection to your internet modem, a P2 type headphone jack (3,5 mm) and an optical audio output for PC.
I've already tested a good portion of monitors from Samsung and other brands and of course, these connections are available in most of them, but it is worth mentioning that following this market rule is a good start. Many companies have the habit of innovating and ending up removing ports that may not even be used simultaneously, but end up being willingly if they are available. It's the kind of add-on item that's nice to have, so you can use it without a hitch when needed.
Moving on to technologies, here we have another “best of all worlds”. Samsung's curved screen gamer monitor arrives in Brazil with support for AMD FreeSync and eye protection, the Eye Saver Fashion, which can be activated after several hours of playing so that your vision is not affected.

Another good technology to have in your Odyssey g6 is Game bar, which understands and adapts the image (in addition to having its own menu) for each type of game.
The screen is also supported to deliver great images without the need for the standard Dolby. This happens because of the certification HDR 600 display, which according to the Samsung, "provides more contrast, with deeper blacks and brighter whites to help you uncover enemies or secrets hidden in the shadows."

It is a feature that resembles the Ray Tracing, allowing for a complete experience without the need for a large screen. Until then, nothing to complain about the curved screen monitor of the Samsung.
Performance
I really didn't expect the model to have the operating system Tizen and here, I had a simple (very) good surprise. This not only gives new uses for the model, but even allows it to be sold outside the gamer category.

When not playing, you can use Odyssey g6 to watch content on the main streaming services, YouTube and other applications that can also be installed on Samsung smart TVs. That is: the Odyssey g6 delivers the complete experience for those looking for both a gamer monitor and for those who just want a screen to entertain themselves in their leisure time.
And its day-to-day use is quite simple: the remote control, recharged via USB-C (which avoids buying batteries) is easy to use and also has shortcut buttons. Support for voice assistants Alexa e Bixby da Samsung is also available here and you can not only control the curved gaming monitor, but also give commands to other connected devices.

The operating system is very simple and if you are close to the gamer monitor, there are buttons built into the screen that allow for easy navigation.
Fabric
With a 27-inch screen that has resolution QHD (2560 × 1440) and technology support HDR600, I can say that I had a good experience with this curved screen gaming monitor. Starting with the high quality, watching the first part of the fourth season of YOU na Netflix it was quite an experience. My plan only covers FHD quality but in use on YouTube, I have nothing to complain about.

I just missed an anti-reflective layer, but that's nothing that can't be fixed: just close your bedroom curtain and everything will be fixed. But if you prefer, you can still use the Odyssey G6 with the window open and have fun/entertain in the same way.
Do you prefer to play with the screen in vertical mode? Just change the position of the screen and automatically, the position of the image will change. This is a feature that, until then, I had only seen on Samsung's Lifestyle line of TVs, such as the The Frame or The sero.
If you want to install the TikTok application and watch vertical videos in the format you see on your cell phone, on the 27-inch screen of Odyssey g6, you can. And the same goes for YouTube Shorts. Prefer to play in vertical mode? Just turn the screen and the operating system detects the change. Check out:

About the curvature of 1000R, I managed to have an interesting immersion in relation to the traditional model that I use to play games and watch series. It's not a setup that can be considered a huge change, but at the same time, it's nothing completely throwaway either. It is that point that fulfills the proposal well: making the image more immersive through the curvature of the screen as navigation in the system and games takes place.
Audio
Many monitors end up not having their own set of speakers, which ends up forcing users to use either a wireless headset or a headset. O Odyssey g6 has its own game that makes everything even better, those who have the technology adaptive sound. In practice, the system understands the type of sound being emitted and performs the adaptation so that the best experience is delivered.

The sound, for many games, manages to be immersive enough without too much effort. But the consumption of content in the Smart TV, whether in the YouTube or streaming services, it also does its part in being well complete.
As Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and other music platform apps are available for installation, you can also use the gaming monitor as a real soundbox when you're not playing games or watching something on the screen.
Use as smart TV
Gamer monitors end up delivering only a good screen experience and their operating system is usually as simple as possible. But I can't say that Tizen do Odyssey g6. In addition to the pre-installed apps, you can also install other apps to make the usage even greater. A Pluto TV, which delivers as many free channels as Samsung TVPlus, all via streaming, is just one example.

The experience of using a smart TV is present here: it is possible to change channels in the same way or connect another device (PC, notebook or console) to have access to high quality images on the screen. The refresh rate ends up not implying that much in this use, but it was possible to notice that the automatic image modes manage to do the job quite completely.
More than serving as a screen that helps you with entertainment, it's as if you bought a gamer monitor and got a smart TV as a gift. Usage is very complete and if you have other devices connected, you can control them directly from the Odyssey g6.
I really like watching your videos Isabella Boscov No. YouTube and just not having to turn on my notebook and connect it to my traditional TV to watch content, the model of Samsung won me over. It is an interesting and very welcome combo here.

In my use for a week, I had no problems regarding the performance of the Odyssey g6. Quite the contrary: I was quite impressed with Samsung's decision to put the same operating system as its smart TVs on a gamer monitor. One of (if not the biggest) hit of the product.
use in games
The combination of 240Hz refresh rate, 1 millisecond response time and the system Tizen it couldn't get any worse. I'm the type of gamer who loves FPS, so I had a great experience on titles like Fortnite e Destiny 2.

I also took a little risk FIFA 22 coins and the experience was quite immersive. There are game modes that can be selected to give you the fun you want, activated with just a few clicks of the remote control buttons.

If you are a PC gamer, the Odyssey g6 is also compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium to gain access to image improvements in matches. Perhaps, I would make the eye protection filter a little less apparent. In practice, the yellow layer over the image can end up causing the user to turn off the screen after a while.
Special Features
In addition to the possibility of being used as a control center for connected devices and having support for Alexa da Amazon and Bixby da Samsung, this gamer monitor can be considered a console of its own.
This is because due to having the Tizen 2022 as an operating system, there is the possibility of taking advantage of the catalog of Xbox Gaming Pass e NVIDIA GeForce Now. And here, the use is more than complete, because you practically have a console, without having a console. All you need is an active game subscription service account and a stable connection to be able to have fun with the same catalog as someone who has a PC or Xbox.

The monitor also has other details that make the experience more complete: it is possible to program a timer for those who always end up napping in front of the TV after a while. The model also serves as a second screen and the feature Multiview, which divides the screen in two, is also interesting to have on your Odyssey g6.
Conclusion
A week after having this Samsung gaming monitor, I can only conclude the review that it fulfills what it promises and delivers even more. The screen with great quality and the curved type, by itself, would already deliver a great experience, but the possibility of rotating the Tizen, which is also present in smart TVs from Samsung, makes everything even more complete.

Using the gamer monitor as a smart TV that can have several applications installed, in addition to the Gaming Hub, which in itself makes the use for gamers even more dynamic and practically allows you to have a virtual console inside the monitor, is incredible.
sold on Magazine Luiza for BRL 4.634,10, the purchase, as much as it is above most of the gamer monitor models on the market, is certainly a great investment. That's because you'll be buying two products (a monitor and a complete smart TV) for the price of practically one.
