Many wonder if it is worth investing in the Nintendo OLED Switch or if it would be better to wait for the 2023 releases. We received the laptop and tested it to give you a fair verdict!
Launched in September 2022 the Nintendo OLED Switch has given what to talk about among technology enthusiasts, the new console comes equipped with a large screen with technology OLED, offering vibrant colors and the high contrast characteristic of this type of screen, but without major changes compared to previous Switch models.

Screen and Design
The screen OLED switch it has intense and vibrant colors with pure blacks, where each point of light is formed by organic LEDs that light up and work independently. The difference and quality compared to the standard LCD screen of the original Switch and Lite is striking, and it's a pleasure to play with.
The video game screen is also larger, it is 7 inches against 6,2 inches in previous models. This makes the frames of the new model thinner, giving greater use to the console. The resolution however remains the same, 720p in portable mode and 1080p when connected to a TV.
Regarding the design itself, there is not much difference between the devices. Even with the increased weight, both the original Switch and Switch OLED are pretty much the same size, with the difference being that the OLED construction is more robust and looks far less fragile. The Joy-Cons — detachable console controls — have a firmer grip and 'stick' more firmly to the body of the device.
The way tabletop, which allows you to support the console standing up without the aid of accessories, has also been upgraded: if on the original Switch the support seemed very fragile and impractical, now it offers a larger and more resistant support, making sense to rest the console on it.
Hardware
The speakers of OLED switch are clearly superior to the original model and do not require the use of headphones. The memory has already been expanded, it is 64GB against 32GB of previous models and the user can add a microSD card if he wants more space.
The dock has been updated for Switch OLED, and now features a rounded corner design and white color. But the main difference is hidden in the back of the accessory: it is now possible to connect a network cable to the base of the Nintendo console, which offers a more stable internet connection.
Battery
It is worth mentioning the potential of the video game battery, something that impressed me a lot because Nintendo kept the same 4.310 mAh of the 2017 model, but there were few times that I needed to resort to the charger, even playing for 5 and sometimes 6 hours straight in portable mode with the screen brightness at maximum while running The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The reason for this difference compared to previous models – which usually last 4 hours of gameplay – is something that the company does not make clear.
Worth it?
The big problem of Nintendo OLED Switch it is really its greatest value, a difference between the conventional model that can be saved to buy some games for the console if you already have the previous models – or wait for really significant updates, since the devices have few differences in terms of specifications.
O Nintendo OLED Switch it is definitely a beautiful device, which offers a satisfactory graphics experience in terms of brightness and color of the screen, but which perhaps does not make sense for those who already own one of the previous models of the console. It ends up being a portable that makes sense for those who want to have their first experience with a portable from the Switch line or for those crazy about technology who want to experience the potential of the new OLED screen.
But, if you don't mind the price difference, go ahead, it's a device that presents a good experience in any case with its image and sound upgrades, very comfortable to use and that will definitely make your friends jealous, it's just a shame Nintendo didn't equip it with a 4K resolution screen, it would make a tremendous difference in my opinion.
I really enjoyed testing the device and found it much more practical than previous versions of the Switch — it may not seem like it, but the reinforced support on the back breaks a nice branch. It certainly made me want to invest in a laptop in the future.
