Review: Nokia Lumia 800

Design and finish:

O Lumia 800 is the new high-end smartphone from the company. In a single piece of polycarbonate, it is very reminiscent of the N9, another smartphone from the company. This touch makes the difference. Allied to Design and available colors (blue, pink and black), the device really impresses. There's no way not to notice it.

Screen:

The device screen has 3,7 inches, with resolution 480 800 pixels x and is protected by the well-known glass Gorilla Glass curved. Perhaps this size is considered small for some smartphone owners Android, accustomed to screens up to 5,3 inches. Even so, I was impressed with the good adaptation of the system Windows Phone, which makes the screen size of the Lumia 800 is sufficient to present the content accessed therein well. Image quality is up to the AMOLED technologies e clear black display already commented here on SMT, displaying vivid and well-represented colors even in bright outdoor conditions.

System and Applications:

Get used to the system Windows Phone it is both easy and complicated. On the one hand, the ecosystem really did a good job, simplifying menus and access screens to the device's functions. The integration of the system with the Facebook and  Twitter  is extremely convenient, making status posts and contact information accessible much faster than on other smartphones. System-specific apps like the package Office give the competition a bath (heard, Google Docs?!). The search engine access screen Bing is beautiful, and even allows a search based on images from the camera smartphone! Here, I owe an analysis of the nokia drive (nokia steer, in Brazil), which I shall detail in a future post.

However, as a user of smartphone Android, I am in doubt whether this “simplicity” and all immutability will get sick with time. You Live tiles present on the system's home screen are interesting, but they are just widgets simplified. And, of course, you can't help but miss one. app specific to the gmail. So decide whether the Windows Phone is more or less interesting because of these differences is also a matter of taste and custom of each user with their smartphone previous. Who receives your emails in a Hotmail, probably, will not mind these comments of mine.

The app store for Windows Phones doesn't even come close to the amount of content in the iTunes Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android). Even so, it is already possible to find some of the most important names in the world of apps, such as:

Speed ​​and processing:

parabéns micro nokia! The absence of processors dual ou quad colors is not really noticed. makes me think that the superphones from the competition are a bit of a “marketing ploy”. The operating system runs very well on Lumia 800, with your processor Single-core 1.4GHz Scorpion, no stutter. Anyway, I make this comment without testing a game with demanding graphics.

Camera:

As usual, the Nokia does not fail in this regard. the camera of 8MP (3264×2448 pixels) do Lumia 800 has lenses Carl Zeiss e dual LED flash, plus ISO settings, effects and HD video recording. Even in difficult conditions for others smartphones (such as night photos), the Lumia it does very well. In comparison, left my Galaxy X (Galaxy Nexus) eating dust, taking excellent quality pictures in conditions where my device could only get shaky pictures. The dedicated camera button is also a point to consider (after all, who can take blur-free photos by clicking buttons on the screen?).

Connections and Storage:

O Lumia still has 16GB of internal memory and 25GB of free cloud storage via SkyDrive. Connections are plentiful Lumia 800: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, EDR, FM radio, A-GPS, microUSB v2.0 input and the new wireless connection technology NFC.

Battery:

Battery capacity is rather small: 1450 mAh. In the hands of a common user, the Lumia can survive for an entire day. It's really little, but the company promises an improvement in this duration that should arrive with the next system update. We will inform you here at SMT as soon as it becomes available.

Price and availability:

Since this last Thursday, the Lumia 800 can already be found in several stores in Brazil, at the suggested price of 1.699,00 BRL.
