Does the boom Do you have what it takes to stand out from the crowd? After all, speakers Bluetooth they are found on every street corner, gallery and even in certain bookstores. Many of them, let's not lie, don't care much for quality (being very polite). And that's exactly what sets the Quantum Boom. Our review will be a little different from the others, where we will highlight the points we liked and the ones we expected more.
What we like
First, the design of the Quantum Boom. It certainly draws attention in any room in the house, as it comes with a aluminum construction that will hardly displease the consumer. In addition to, of course, offering good mechanical resistance in case of accidents.
Boom's shape isn't just aesthetic. The audio is designed so omnidirectional, that is, you don't have to worry about “pointing” it in a certain direction. This without forgetting the good 15 watt power, able to fill most environments with sound without major problems with excellent quality, considering its dimensions. Naturally, it is not able to compete with a mini system, or one home theater, but it's an interesting powerhouse for a battery-operated product.
We didn't find the battery capacity in mAh, but Quantum promises up to 5 hours of autonomy. In our tests, with the volume at maximum, we were able to just under 4 hours, so that the autonomy varies according to the volume. More so, with the bass enabled. THE boom uses the center key to activate the “shake”, reinforcing the bass. In fact, it considerably improves the quality of some specific songs. In addition to literally shaking the table at higher volumes.
What we don't like
One point bothered us a lot in particular. Boom's charger uses a specific connector, feeding it through a DC output. We even understand this choice from a technical point of view, considering the charging power (9,5V, 1,5A), not using 5 volts like most smartphone chargers. But, it is good not to lose it, as it will be difficult to find a similar charger. Even more quality.
The second point is that there is no P2 input: boom only plays audio via Bluetooth. Although this is its primary function, it would be interesting to be able to connect it with an analog cable, thinking about equipment such as PCs or any other that does not have Bluetooth.
Speaking of Bluetooth, which usually implies a range of 10 meters, we haven't seen this in practice. In fact, it seemed to us that while the sound is omnidirectional, the antenna is not. Depending on which side Boom is on the smartphone, the transmission improves or worsens.
Conclusion
Although there are some inconveniences, the Quantum Boom It's certainly one of the best portable speakers we've come across. The points we don't like are overshadowed by the excellent audio quality, something that many competing models cannot offer.
At least not for a reasonable price, as Quantum Boom can be found in the company store at suggested value of BRL 399. In our experience, competitors with similar quality often charge at least twice as much. In the end, it is a product with a Quantum identity: it offers what it promises without charging an absurd amount for it.
