Well segmented in the processor market, AMD launched the Ryzen 7 5700G recently, in an attempt to combine a high performance component, but without giving up the integrated graphics based on Vega 8. The APU does its homework well and delivers results that have plenty of performance for gaming and editing.

O showmetech received the Ryzen 7 5700G kindly by AMD, and after using this processor in the last few days, we bring you the complete analysis of the model.

Getting to Know the Ryzen 7 5700G

When it comes to talking about a processor, there's not much fancy, after all, there's not much to show other than the box and the cooler. Therefore, we will be very direct in this text. O Ryzen 7 5700G comes with the famous and revamped AMD Wraith, the nice box cooler from AMD, made as a “quick fix”.

In our tests, however, we did not use Wraith, but a very similar model of the Cooler Master: T2. In the end, the difference is quite imperceptible. O box cooler, as the name suggests, is only enough to accompany the processor if the user does not have a cooler, be your first PC, etc. although the Ryzen 7 5700G is a high-performance processor, the model didn't get that hot, so I don't think there's much to worry about.

That's what the processor is: the metal layer on top with its name stamped on it and the yellow pins on the back. It's simple, but the simplicity is in those details that make us like this world of hardware of computer.

The chip

Getting down to business for gamers, the Ryzen 5700G It is an 8-core, 16-thread, 3.8 GHz base clock (boost up to 4.6 GHz) processor with integrated graphics, making it an APU. The model was developed in a manufacturing process with 7 nm FinFET lithography, just like its smaller brother, the Ryzen 5 5600G, which also retains the AM4 socket. This way, it is compatible with motherboards originally developed for the Ryzen 3000, for example, simply by updating the BIOS.

As already mentioned, the processor follows the Vega 8 as a graphics chip, which supports frequencies of up to 2000 MHz and is a real eyesore in this segment. Without a doubt, it's the best integrated graphic that I've ever had, and it definitely works well in games, everyday applications, and it also didn't let me down when I needed to use it for video editing – even if the most basic – in the Sony Vegas and Camtasia Studio 8.

Before starting our tests in benchmarks synthetics and in games, the Ryzen 7 5700G was tested on a bench with motherboard Gigabyte Aorus B550I Pro AX, 16 GB of RAM (2×8) at 2666 MHz, 1 TB Imation SSD, 600W Corsair power supply and a NVIDIA RTX 3060 from EVGA.

Synthetic Benchmarks

Fire Strike Ultra

3DMARK is one of the main tools for carrying out synthetic tests and touching the ability of the Ryzen 7 5700G. The first test was with the Fire Strike Ultra, designed for testing powerful GPUs and CPUs with benchmarking heavy tessellation, volumetric lighting, smoke simulations, dynamic particle lighting, physics for the CPU and post-processing; totaling 5123 points.

CPU Profile

Our second test is with the CPU Profile to benchmarking which performs various tests using the different numbers of cores and threads of the processor. In total, 6 tests are performed with all the threads, 16 threads, 8 threads, 4 and 2 threads and finally only 1 thread, using the same metric for all; culminating in different scores for each test, as noted below:

Tests of CINEBENCH serve to put the processor and graphics card under maximum load in the rendering of complex scenes and scenarios. The tests put the 6 processor cores and later only one main core to render a realistic scene with anti-aliasing, reflections, lighting, shadows and various other effects that make up about 2000 objects.

Blender

Finally, the Blender is an open source tool used for modeling, animation, texturing, compositing and video rendering. In this test we used the BMW demo to render.

Tests in games with dedicated card

Before we begin, we need to point out a few points. As the analysis of this text is to observe the behavior of the processor, the main idea is to make the video card as comfortable as possible to make high numbers of frames. That way the CPU will have more work, especially when at lower resolutions. So, in many cases, we use medium or low quality, as the object is to see how far the processor can handle it.

In the world of PCs we say that the important thing is to always leave the video card at 99% of its usage capacity, because the component will be delivering all its performance. In processors it is the opposite: the lower your % of usage, the better the performance. So if our card is being fully utilized, the bottleneck of the system turns into the CPU, and we get to know how far that part can go.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition is a version that uses only Ray Tracing in the composition of its global illumination. In High quality with Ray Traced in Normal and DLSS in Balanced Mode the game averages 105 frames with the Ryzen 7 5700G oscillating between 38 to 44% of use, and the RTX 3060 suffers from not stabilizing so much, staying around 80%.

In Quad HD, we set the quality to Medium, keeping RT at Normal and leaving DLSS in Performance Mode. So we reached a mark of 111 frames, with the Ryzen 7 5700G slightly lower on load usage and the GPU stabilized at 99%.

In 4K I decided to leave everything on low, including the DLSS disabled and the effect resulted in a gameplay of 45 frames, with the processor using 25% of its capacity.

Control

Control It is definitely one of the most beautiful games we have available. As it is not heavy for the processors, I tested the Ryzen 7 5700G in High quality in Full HD, without any features. The result was our CPU making a measly 19% use of its full potential, while the RTX 3060 pulled the punch at around 65 frames. When activating the Ray Tracing max and DLSS rendering in HD, the gameplay drops to around 62 frames, but it is extremely prettier. Ryzen slightly raises its usage to 26%.

Showing that the resolution makes a difference, when we go up to Quad HD and leaving the quality at Medium the gameplay climbs to over 67 frames effortlessly. The processor is at an average of 20% usage, while the RTX 3060 stabilizes at 97/98% load.

4K already weighs infinitely more, and even at Low quality the gameplay is close to 50 frames, but in compensation the Ryzen 7 5700G no more than 15% usage.

Call of Duty: War zone

Em Call of Duty: War zone, great Battle Royale session, Activision's game ran in Normal quality in Full HD, without DLSS or Ray Tracing, reaching an average of 133 frames while our processor varied around 34% of use, and the GPU at 97%. Detail that in this resolution the Ryzen 7 5700G warmed up a bit: average of 70 to 72ºC.

In Quad HD resolution, still in Normal quality, Warzone drops — normally — to around 80 frames on average, and consequently, our Ryzen 7 5700G follows this pattern, decreasing its load to around 27%, while the GPU stabilizes more at 98% usage.

At 4K, on ​​the other hand, we have a good drop in frames, totaling an average of 48 throughout the test. The processor was quiet with its 22% usage, and finally the RTX 3060 reached its full potential in that resolution.

Resident evil village

In the first test in Resident evil village, we use the preset in Full HD, without Ray Tracing or FidelityFX Super Resolution, and the result reverberated in great gameplay at over 140 frames per second, with the Ryzen 7 5700G operating at 28% and the GPU at 99% usage.

In a very similar configuration, however, in Quad HD, the game already makes an average of 96 frames without difficulties. It is visibly better defined, however, it does not present great differences in the use of processor and video card, but the Ryzen 7 5700G it hits 70°C again.

The 4K resolution doesn't fare too badly. Even doing a mix between medium and low, the game makes about 49 frames on average, and the CPU has already considerably lowered its use to 16% of use, while the RTX 3060 continues at full steam, delivering everything it can.

Fortnite

Closing out our tests with a dedicated graphics card, the last fight is with Fortnite, and the game surprises with an incredible average of more than 220 frames in everything in Medium, without Ray Tracing or DLSS help for that. The Ryzen 7 5700G does well at less than 30% usage, while the RTX 3060 fluctuates a lot between 60% operation. It is definitely a respectable competitive preset.

Quad HD is a very interesting mid-point. Without using any technology and keeping the settings at Medium, we got a nice rate of over 170 frames, with the processor remaining at 30%, as well as the GPU instability, which doesn't bother us in this test.

At 4K in Low quality, the situation is not good, as in addition to being pretty ugly in visual terms, our RTX 3060 becomes the bottleneck in the system, while the Ryzen 7 5700G is there at around 22% usage. Although the gameplay is high, it fluctuates a lot from 120 frames and up, so it's not a good idea to use this setting.

Tests in games with integrated card

Next, we did tests with only Vega 7, the integrated graphics card of our Tyzen 5 5600G. In these tests we did not use internal capture mode so as not to impact performance. So, the following images were filmed by the cell phone camera itself, to be fair to our APU.

For the comparative method, the tests were performed in medium and/or low quality, using HD resolution as standard.

Rocket League

Rocket League opens our new battery of tests. The game runs very well in a mix between Performance and Quality modes in HD, making more than 160 frames easily. When we put things in Full HD…the result is equally good, making an average of 75 fps.

CS: GO

CS: GO does not disappoint and does very well again. O gameplay it oscillates between 90 and 120 frames, but I didn't notice any choking in this process in HD resolution and Medium quality. Putting it at 900p was a good idea, because in addition to improving the visuals, it kept the framerate stable at 60 frames without problems.

Call of Duty: War zone

Call of Duty: War zone does very well in our tests, and at low quality in HD the game – oddly enough – doesn't look that ugly, and still manages to maintain a gameplay smooth with rates from 48 frames and even reaching peaks of up to 71 frames in indoor environments. Impressive for our Ryzen 7 5700G.

Fortnite

Once again, finishing our test batteries, Fortnite runs very well in a range of 84 frames in HD in Medium quality, but it is also possible to play in Full HD in medium to more than 65 frames, but I recommend activating vertical sync in this case to avoid unnecessary stuttering.

Conclusion

Finally, we come to the great verdict of this text. Worth investing in AMD Ryzen 7 5700G? First of all, let's comment on the price of this processor, which can be found at Pichau for BRL 2.089 or Magazine Luiza for BRL 2.184. In contrast, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, similar version and without integrated graphics, costs BRL 2.529 at Magazine Luiza, a considerable difference in price, but this processor ends up delivering slightly more power than its G-series competitor.

This leads us to the following question: the Ryzen 7 5700G is it a good option? The answer is yes — but it's not a definitive answer. Although it's a hell of a processor, I only recommend this model if you're thinking of building or upgrading your PC, but for now don't have the money to put a dedicated card in your budget – the crisis won't let you. In this way, the 5700G's integrated graphics would handle the simplest activities and the performance itself (8 cores and 16 threads) would take care of other heavier tasks.

Now, to build a PC Gamer to play only on the integrated graphics, without a dedicated card and for just over 2 thousand reais? For that I already recommend the cousin of this CPU, the: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, whose performance has already been analyzed recently in the showmetech. You see, the Ryzen 8 7G's Vega 5700 is pretty good, but for all that value? Even having a processor and GPU together is salty.

This brings me to another important point. My big recommendation for this processor goes to the gamer who plans to combine the model with a powerful video card or needs to work with content creation. It doesn't make much sense to use a RTX 3060 since the chip is over-performing — we used the card as it was at our disposal at the time. The ideal would be to start with a RTX 3070 ou RX 6700 XT.

Having said all that, the Ryzen 7 5700G it has a slightly more defined audience, but it's definitely a formidable processor, which precisely blends high-performance processing power with high-end integrated graphics.
