The new VivoBook 15 K513 da ASUS is a model built entirely with students in mind who want “something more”. An easy-to-carry notebook, with quality battery life and performance that can stand out beyond doing routine activities — like watching video lessons with documents open for annotations and PDFs of the content.
The application My ASUS still comes as a differential for you to easily integrate the notebook with your other mobile devices, in addition to making it easier to use some quick settings (such as changing the battery mode, activating the screen coloring that protects the eyes or activating the interesting cancellation of microphone noise when participating in video calls).
Everything would be in its place if the price didn't seem a little high for a product that claims to have students as its target audience. With suggested price close to 8 thousand reais, the question to be answered without a doubt is: is it worth it? We test and bring you everything you need to know about it.
Check out the analysis below showmetech sobre or VivoBook 15 K513, ASUS.
Design and connections
If we're talking about a study-oriented notebook, the first thing we expect is that it's light and compact, so we can take it to college (when face-to-face classes can return without worries, of course) or work without any hassles. At 1,79 cm thick and 1,8 kg in weight, it satisfies this requirement.
The construction is clearly of high quality, very pleasing for being a compact, resistant and powerful notebook.

The aluminum lid has an icy feel and a very nice matte finish — but it will easily get fingerprints. The hinges, on the other hand, could be less stiff, so that we can lift the lid with just one hand, without having to hold the body with the other — possibly they are in a more pleasant point to open after a long time of use.

On top of that, only the ASUS VivoBook name is engraved on the right side in bas-relief, with a beautiful diffused mirror. Below, we have the air vents at the top and the audio outlets at the bottom. The four erasers (one on each end) are excellent for keeping the VivoBook 15 K513 fixed on a surface very calmly.

The art of the stickers that come with the notebook are beautiful and will make you want to customize itRecalling the focus on young students, the ASUS prompts you to customize the notebook, sending stickers to stick on the cover and some to stick on the keyboard itself. At first, the idea may seem cheesy, but the arts are very beautiful and in fact you really want to stick them everywhere.

On the sides, the notebook has an excellent range of connections. On the right side we start with a micro-SD input (note the lack of an SD input), P2 input for headphones, USB-C input – extremely welcome, considering that in the near future, smartphone chargers will completely replace the USB-A inputs – later, USB-A 3.2 input, HDMI and battery connector – it would be fantastic if it was already USB-C type but being in the common standard doesn't bother).

On the left side, we have two USB-A 2.0 ports and a small white LED that lights up when the notebook is plugged in.
Screen and sound
The 15,6″ screen has an excellent performance, achieving 85% of the screen-to-body ratio, even though it does not have ultra-thin edges. The Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) combined with strong, vivid colors and exceptionally intense brightness makes it great for watching videos while studying or having fun in your spare time.

However, watching content with two people or more can be a problem, as the viewing angle of the screen leaves something to be desired. By making small skews, you will already lose a lot of image quality at once.
And if you spend a lot of time looking at your laptop screen, ASUS equip the VivoBook 15 K513 with TÜV Rheinland certification, through technology Eye Care, bringing comfort and eye protection when using the screen for a long time.

The screen still has a matte finish that makes incidental light not completely impair your view. Note that, no matter how close it is, the light is diffused, causing less discomfort during use.

Another element that steals the show is the sound power of the VivoBook 15 K513. Underneath the keyboard, there is engraved in low relief the seal of “Sound by harman/kardon” and frankly, the quality is such that you would even suspect.
It's good enough to never get close to full volume when using the notebook at close range, and I only used it at full volume when standing a few feet away.
Keyboard
I write on the keyboard VivoBook 15 K513 at that moment and I guarantee it will be a very comfortable keyboard to use. The keys are low and short, helping you to take quick notes and write long texts, as you never get tired of the keyboard. It's still all backlit with three levels of intensity, great for you to see what you're doing if you're in the dark — but no straining your eyes for too long with the notebook in the dark, huh?

The key Enter it still has a stylish neon yellow border, with the symbol in the same color, reiterating the stripped down aesthetic that the notebook has assumed.
The numeric keypad on the side looks a bit smothered to fit, but its presence is most welcome.

O trackpad it has a good enough area and with a touch that can be light or deep, as you prefer. It has a discreet but elegant order (bevel, in free translation), on the edges in a subtle silver, which helps to highlight the middle of the notebook body.
Battery
Leaving the house and forgetting the charger is a luxury that you shouldn't do on purpose, but if it happens accidentally, it's great if you don't have to worry about it, right? Fortunately, this is the case with the notebook we have in our hands.
The battery has 3 Li-Prismatic cells, adding up to 42 Wh. In practice, the battery will have 7 to 8 hours of autonomy performing light tasks - such as watching videos while keeping several browser tabs, documents and folders open.

In intense use, using robust editing programs and/or games, autonomy varies depending on the game, but should drop to around 4 hours — and let's face it, if you left home without your charger, it's going to be better to treat the battery with affection and not spend it unnecessarily, right?
A ASUS even sends a 65W charger, which will be great to give you a full charge in about two hours.
Performance
If the idea of VivoBook 15 K513 is to be a notebook for students who want “something more”, we can say that it fulfills this proposal, but with some reservations.
The processor that equips it is the Intel Core i7 de 11th generation (the most recent). It still has 16 GB of RAM 2666 MHz DDR4, 512 SSD of storage and a dedicated video card from NVidia, GeForce MX330 with 2GB GDDR5. It also comes installed with the Windows 10 Home Operating System.
In practice, this bunch of numbers deliver a smooth and quiet experience (speaking of the fans) most of the time.
As much as most of the specs are very good, the graphics component, the GPU, leaves something to be desired if you expected to find a more advanced gaming experience. THE GeForce MX330 it's an entry-level graphics card so it's best not to abuse what it can deliver, or you might end up frustrated.

I did a power test with some very popular games like Fortnite, League of Legends e Far Cry 4, and the results were satisfactory.
In all cases, putting the graphics at maximum is something impractical, because the FPS is very low and you won't be able to play. Putting the graphs in the middle, the Fortnite already delivered a solid 70 FPS, pleasant enough to play with peace of mind. League of Legends it still runs well with high quality, but as in some moments of battle there will be too much confusion on the screen, I recommend not to abuse it and play on medium, to prevent the FPS from going crazy when all the characters decide "ult" at the same time.
With the Ubisoft game, Far Cry 4 brought a satisfactory performance with the graphics on medium and at times, I felt the need to turn it down to a minimum. despite the VivoBook 15 K513 not deliver maximum graphics for games, it is worth remembering that it is not a model made for games with a dedicated graphics card to match such powerful graphics, so it is important to work with the correct expectations as to what the computer can achieve deliver.
MyASUS app
Another differential that stands out is the native application MyASUS. It comes to facilitate the integration between your mobile devices with the notebook, in addition to being a single panel that allows you to control many aspects of the VivoBook with the ease that you control your smartphone.
Initial setup is very simple and quick. After completing the initial registration, you just download the application on your smartphone to perform the integration and connect them through the application.
With the connection made, you won't have any problems if you don't keep your smartphone in your pocket all the time, because you won't need it anymore. You can mirror your smartphone screen on your notebook screen through the app and still receive and make calls. Too practical to answer calls on the computer, huh?

You will still be able to share files between the two very easily through the “File Transfer” — no more gambiarra sending to yourself through the WhatsApp.
Furthermore, inside the panel you can change the battery performance (to save money, for balanced use and to focus on quality); mess with overall machine performance (performance mode for intense activities, which will inevitably heat up the notebook and the fans will make noise, balanced mode and even whisper mode, which leaves the notebook at a low temperature and the fans are inaudible).
In the audio, if the built-in microphone wasn't enough to be of great quality, you can still use the panel to activate noise cancellation, to transmit your voice more politely. And the cancellation works the other way too: intelligent noise cancellation filters out sounds so your speakers deliver a more polished sound as well.
There are still other very interesting functions to explore, in addition to a tab dedicated to “Customer Service“, providing you with support at a very fast speed.
Conclusion
O VivoBook 15 K513 It appears without a doubt to be a modern notebook, ready for today's times and with features that perfectly match the proposal. Many facilities may sound like micro facilities, but just like good small details, the impressive result is shown when you add it all up, resulting in a very satisfying user experience. For those looking for that “something more”, the ASUS guarantees you'll find it — but as mentioned, don't go to the pot so thirsty!
The bottleneck is certainly the price. If on the one hand, 8 thousand reais in a notebook is a considerable investment, on the other hand, it delivers versatility and convenience at a level that certainly justifies the price.
And of course, even being a launch, you can already find it in stores with lower prices than suggested, and with a more aggressive price, it certainly becomes the right alternative.
