Roomba robot vacuum cleaners go on sale in Brazil

Everyone knows how boring it is to clean the floors and rugs at home, whether with a vacuum cleaner or a broom. Nobody likes that kind of service. Therefore, the manufacturer iRobot announced that it has brought to Brazil its popular line of Roomba vacuum robots 600, sold in several other countries.

Robots do the job of keeping the floor free of dust, hair, fur and other dirt. According to the manufacturer, just press a button for it to perform the service.

But how does the robot manage to dodge your furniture? From the steps of the stairs and other unevenness? THE iRobot claims that technology iAdapt, employed in Roomba, ensures that the equipment does not get tangled in wires and avoid possible obstacles, through a set of sensors and a decision-making system. Sensors are also used to detect dirtier places that require more cleaning time.

The cleaning process itself works as follows: a series of brushes swivels collect dirt in the path of the Roomba. Meanwhile, the vacuum it sucks the residues from the brushes and stores it in an internal compartment. It adapts to different types of floors and cleans corners and spaces under furniture. After everything is clean, it still returns alone to the base to recharge the battery.

The models Roomba initially sold on Brazil will be the 620 (BRL 1299) and 650 (BRL 1699) via manufacturer's website and in retail chains. The model 650 it has the differential of being able to be programmed to perform the cleaning daily and includes a “virtual wall”, so that the robot cleans only the rooms desired by the user.
