How to hide a site in Google News

O Google News ( Google News) is an important tool for those looking to keep up with the main information of the day and consume specific topics of interest. Using Artificial Intelligence, the tool selects news, images and videos according to your browsing history, providing quick access to relevant information.

Google News also allows navigation by editorials, among them, about business, science and technology, entertainment, health and sports, in addition to the main events in Brazil, in the world and local articles. The app also displays the weather forecast and hot topics, such as politics and weapons, global warming, Brexit, Operation Car Wash and the economy.

Google itself highlights the main news portals in the country. You can favorite them (via the star icon). Another interesting feature is the inclusion of other sites. We explain how you can put the showmetech and Showmetech Corporate right at the end of this article.

How to block/hide Google News sources

With a plethora of sources, it's nearly impossible to keep track of all the sites and information Google News has to offer. It can also include portals and blogs that are not of interest to you and, to facilitate this information consumption process, the tool provides the function hide, that is, stop receiving specific media updates.

Although this feature is feasible, there is no way to do it automatically, but the manual process is quite simple. Here's how to hide:

Hide on Android or iOS devices

Step 1. Access the Google News app on your device iOS ou Android, or through the device browser (news.google.com.br) and log in with your account;

Step 2. When logging in, look for the website, blog or portal you want to hide. Unfortunately it is not possible to search by typing the font name in the search field, so you will have to browse until you find it;

Step 3. When locating an information note, in the lower right corner, you will see three dots, click on it;

Step 4. It will present some options like: save, share, access the portal/site/blog and hide stories from Sitename / hide all stories from this source: Sitename;

Step 5. After clicking, Google News removes the source from your feed of information.

On a computer, the process for removing a font is different from screen. It is not necessary to use applications, just access the browser: news.google.com.br and follow the same step by step that we explained earlier.

The only difference is in the three dots, which are hidden. At the desktop with, it only appears when you place the mouse cursor over the news. Once located, the rest does not change, just click on hide all articles from this source: Site name.

If you don't want to block the source, Google News lets you sort the information to see more or less in your feed. For example, if you want to reduce or keep political headlines, or gossip, just use this functionality. To do this, click on the three dots above the news and select Other articles like this (plus icon) or Less stuff like this (negative icon).

How to unblock websites in Google News

If you have hidden a site by mistake, or if you want to consume news from a blocked source again, be aware that it is possible to activate it again so that it appears on your feed. See how to do it:

Step 1. If via browser (mobile or desktop with), click in settings in the lower left corner. Then you can view hidden sources, then click to manage;

Step 2. To unlock via app (iOS or Android), in the upper right corner, click your profile picture/picture, then in settings. Finally, click on the option Hidden sources and topics (on Android) or Hidden items from “For You” (on iOS).

After the step-by-step procedure to access blocked sites, there will be a list of all the portals and blogs that you have hidden. To enable, just click on the round button next to the logo (picture above).

How to include Showmetech portals in your Google News

Step 1. By browser desktop with ou screen, enter in news.google.com.br. In the search area, where the magnifying glass appears, type: showmetech ( showmetech.com.br) to showmetech corporate ( www.showmetech.com.br). Place the mouse cursor over the news so that the three dots appear. Click on it and then on Access Showmetech. Finally, click Continue;

Step 2. To do the same on iOS or Android, click on the search magnifying glass, type the name or URL of the sites showmetech. When locating the latest news from our portal, click on the three dots in the lower right corner. After pressing, select the option Access Showmetech. You will be taken to the official page and there, just click on the star icon at the top.
