After the Rio de Janeiro being the first capital in Brazil to allow the use of mask in closed places, the state of São Paulo followed the same step and from today, (17), all people who are in environments with coverage can stop using the mask. security accessory.
However, the rule still applies to those who are in the public transport (and their appropriate access points), as well as health facilities. It is worth remembering that the State stopped requiring the use of a mask in open environments on March 9. Check all the information right now.
No more wearing a mask

It took a while, but the day has come! City residents and visitors from across the state of São Paulo no longer need to take the protective accessory when they are in covered environments, such as clubs, restaurants, malls and other spaces. The decree was signed today by Governor João Dória and is already in effect, see the announcement made via Twitter:
The measure was expected, since in the announcement on the 9th, the governor announced that the requirement to wear SP masks in other places could be removed at any time.
Some indoor locations still require accessory
In the same announcement in which he removed the mandatory use of the mask in closed places, the governor of the state of São Paulo stressed that there are still places where people should protect themselves. Are they:
- Public transport such as bus, train, metro and appropriate access points, such as escalators;
- Hospitals and health facilities (of all types, regardless of whether there is treatment for those infected with COVID-19 or not).
The decision to no longer wear the mask in the city of São Paulo and other places in the state was taken with the support of the Scientific Committee on the Coronavirus of São Paulo. 90% of the entire vaccinable population (aged 5 years and over) has already received two doses of the immunizer, a percentage that is part of the goal defined by the WHO for restrictions to be relaxed.
This afternoon I received a technical note from the Scientific Committee that demonstrates a consistent improvement in the epidemiological situation in the State. That's why I decided, with the support of these scientists and doctors, to immediately abolish the mandatory use of a mask in all environments, with the exception of health units, hospitals and public transport.
Governor João Doria on the end of mask use in São Paulo
Is the end of masks safe?
People who tested positive for COVID-19 During some moment of the pandemic, they wonder if they should wear a mask or is it really the time to no longer carry the accessory in the bag.
Health experts also indicate that patients with comorbidities, severe immunosuppressed, elderly, transplanted people and other groups make use of the item even in closed places, because the risk of contamination still exists and these people are more difficult to be treated.

It is important to remember that children under the age of 5 cannot yet receive the vaccine, so even in places with coverage, it is worth considering the use of the protective accessory to keep their health up to date. Remember that vaccination does not prevent a person from being infected, but it decreases the number of new serious cases.
