This past Saturday, November 6, the animated series Arcane, the Netflix, based on the playful universe of Runeterra, content in which the most played MOBA of recent years takes place: League of Legends. An animation of this type has been awaited for over ten years by the community and it's finally here! In this article we will talk about some curiosities, what happened during this first Act and everything you need to know, so proceed at your own risk, as this material is filled with spoilers. Come on!
What is Arcane?
As already informed and probably from what you've already seen on the internet, the Arcane animated series is Riot Games' first foray into exploring the universe around League of Legends and its other games in another way — for now, except VALUE, although Killjoy has already made a slight Crossovers promoting this new series.
A Riot Games has approached the history of League Of Legends in several ways: podcast, Lords (stories read), short videos in animations and others. But this is the first time we see a series about the infamous lolzinho.
In Arcane, we have a little about the lives of some characters who live in cities Piltover & Zaun, who share the same location, but the rich and privileged people live in the upper part of the city (Piltover), also known as high side, as well as the less fortunate, poor and despised live at the bottom, even underground, of the life of (Zaun), who is also identified as Sub-holidays.
The story of this first season, separated into 3 Acts with 3 episodes each, is focused on the relationship between the sisters. Vi e Powder, better known as Jinx — but until then, that's how we should refer to the girl. In addition, we also saw appearances of other characters such as Caitlyn, Jayce, heimerdinger, Viktor e Echo.
some origins

Right away we see a war on a bridge in Piltover, and on it, Defenders — considered the police there — are attacking people. A man dressed in two crude, improvised gauntlets is involved in this mess. When looking to the side, he sees two girls completely lost in the midst of chaos, amazed at what is happening. Apparently, they recognize a dead lady on the floor, who seems to be their mother, and the older one starts crying and this man supports them, taking them away. These people were Vi, Powder and vander, the man they adopted as their father.
After some time, Vander settled in the Underferia, giving the citizens of Zaun some comfort in his bar, called Last drop. The Lost Children of Zaun, as the group formed by the leader is known Vi, Powder, Mylo e Claggor, live under Vander's protection, under the bar. I believe that Echo is also considered part of this group.

And speaking of this guy, he also shows up in animation! He is first seen in the store. benzo, a place that buys and sells parts for engineering in general, according to the opportunities that appear. By all indications, Ekko is Benzo's servant, having an affection between them there.
We also saw about the past of Jayce, before arriving in Piltover. He was on a snowy mountain - something similar to the Freljord - with his mother, until she couldn't resist the cold and passed out. A mage, who uses rune spells — there Ryze — teleported them out of there. Since then Jayce has been completely impressed by the ability of at least some people with magic. For living in a city considered revolutionary by science, the subject “magic” was considered taboo.

Not just for the city itself, heimerdinger, professor at the Piltover Academy, as well as Councilor of Piltover, also spoke about the use of Magic, saying that he had seen men being corrupted when they tried to deal with the Arcane. Did he talk about xerath? Bearing in mind that Heimer confesses to being 307 years old, which, for a yordle (a race of “dwarves”) is common, as time passes completely differently between yordles and humans.
the origin of Viktor is also revealed. He is Heimerdinger's personal assistant, a relationship that leaves him fascinated by all the intellectuality and intelligence involved there. At one point, Jayce is caught with illegal materials and experiments, accused of injuring the Ethos — the “Piltover Constitution” — with legal punishment of being banished from the city, but Heimerdinger intervened and, considering the young man’s good deeds and good heart, suggested “only” the boy’s expulsion from the Academy.

That done, the young man finds himself - literally, as he tries to kill himself - on the edge of a precipice, but Viktor, again fascinated by the possibility of stronger powers, goes to the boy to help him develop this research that made him be almost kicked out of the city of development. From his first appearances, we've seen how big Viktor's ambition is, putting him, Jayce, and anyone else around at risk to gain power—again something similar to Xerath.
If you're going to change the world, don't ask permission
Viktor to Jayce
Other origins a little less explored were that of Caitlyn and Ekko. Ekko has only appeared a few times to save the Lost Children of Zaun, and Caitlyn hasn't been explored very well, only what has been said about her during these years: she is part of a noble family from Piltover, who tried to save Jayce from exile and ended up being disappointed in the boy, forbidding their daughter to see him. It may be just me but apparently Caitlyn has a crush on Jayce, although we know who Caitlyn really likes.
unraveling the plot
Well, it all starts with the Lost Children, with Benzo's guidance, going to Piltover to loot anything: inventions, machinery, gadgets... They, by chance, arrive at Jayce's apartment (from what I understand, Benzo has given the exact location of the apartment) and begin scouring the place.

Power finds a chest, like the bounty chests seen in Legends of Runeterra, and opens it, revealing some blue gems inside, the hextech. Jayce tries to break into his apartment while the group flees, but by accident, Powder drops one of these gems, causing a massive explosion, including a crater. The group is pursued by the police, but manages to lose them, entering a sewer pipe that leads to Zaun.

Meanwhile Grayson and Vander talk and she explains that she needs someone responsible for what happened on Ladoalto, giving Vander some time to contact her and hand over the person responsible. After some unwinding, Marcus, Grayson's fellow Defender, goes to the Last Drop after the Lost Children, warned by Vander of their arrival and go into hiding. With that, everyone present questions the gentleman about the peaceful position he adopted — in defense of the children — but which could be lethal for the rest, thus causing a revolt among those present.
Ending full of emotions
Vi is surprised by Vander and Benzo, being locked in a room by Vander, as he had called Grayson so he could turn himself in and take responsibility for what happened. After arresting the man, they leave that house and are surprised by the villain, Silco, who is accompanied by another man who had taken a pink liquid, called Scintila, and gained superhuman strength, abilities and size. This monster kills Grayson and Benzo, and injures Vander, who is kidnapped.

Ekko sees everything, releases Vi, tells her and they both get emotional. She then goes to meet the other kids, explains what happened, and they plan to free Vander. Vi asks Powder to stay as she "is all she has", and she doesn't want to take the risk. They arrive at the scene, but Silco is with his gang, so Vi dons Vander's gauntlets and goes to meet the henchmen, while the other kids try to save their "father".
Powder goes into a state of despair, but remembers that, in the apartment accident, she ended up with some gems and built a little monkey that could blow everything up, in an attempt to help her group, so she heads towards them. After Vi defeats almost all of Silco's henchmen, he makes the same boy who had ingested the Glint do it again to defeat Vi, who stops her holding it with only one hand. Vander tries to intervene, even if from afar and still being freed, but Powder, seeing his sister in danger, throws the little monkey with the gem that explodes, causing real chaos.

With the explosion, she seriously injured one of Silco's loyal henchmen, who threw himself in front of him to save him, she hit a scientist who was underground of the place - who seems to be Singed - and kills his friends, Mylo. and Claggor. In the final moments, Vander improvises two brass knuckles and tries to face the monster, but ends up being hit from the rear by Silco, being thrown into a pile of Cintila's test tubes. Vander returns, completely transformed, and has to choose between saving Vi or killing Silco, but ends up saving the girl. Both fall from the building, leaving Vander unconscious.

Powder appears all smiling and proud of what she did, reaching Vi and saying that she was responsible for the explosion, so Vi, upset, hits Powder in the face and blames her: for Vander's death (who I believe is just unconscious) and his friends, leaving there. Silco then appears, but when Vi tries to stop him, she is caught, apparently by Marcus — the Defender — who ends up being taken away. Powder then, abandoned, joins Silco, who fuels all of the child's hatred.
Curiosities, theories and easter eggs
Despite this summary, the Arcane animated series has offered it all — and then some — to fans of the game. And if you haven't watched it, or have watched it and don't know the game, I believe you also enjoyed yourself and really enjoyed what you saw, as the series was designed for any and all audiences, not exclusively for League of Legends players.
Some well-known characters that have not yet been seen, not by the first Act, are Camille and Corina, both of whom are involved in Piltover & Zaun. A few others like Twitch and Seraphine weren't addressed or mentioned either, and we probably won't see in this first season. All that's left is to wait and see what Riot has in store for us. Mel, apparently the most influential Councilor in Piltover, has a certain prominence, probably has something to do with other characters not yet seen.

Obviously in a shared universe media, what else is easter eggs! And fans love finding the references. During the first three episodes, it is possible to see some of them, for example, the Chicken Heart of gold, item removed from the game, seen by Benzo in his first appearance, and sometime later, when Ekko eavesdrops on the conversation between Benzo and Vander, a mask identical to Vander's appears. Jhin and, next to it, an item of shuriname origin. Two other masks appear, and they resemble the Liandry mask and some theme mask Blood Moonrespectively.

According to some theories, the scientist working with Silco is singed, which will likely develop over the course of this first season. And another theory, a little more consolidated, is that Vander will turn into Warwick, since the werewolf story is that a man had been exposed to experiments to the point of becoming a completely insane creature, only thirsty for killing.
Powder, in the course of the first few episodes, is always seen as unlucky, as she always comes across unusual situations when she is involved. In English, she is always called “jinx", an expression that implies that she is unlucky, so probably from hearing this so much, she will end up adopting this name for herself, which we will see over the course of the next Acts. An amazing part for fans of the game is the reveal of the name of Vi, what is Purple. On several occasions, we have always seen her say that “Vi is for 'violence'”, probably trying to drive away curious about her real name.
Signing Off

Arcane not only delivered but surprised many fans around the world. Probably because of the fiasco that was the last global event, of the Sentinels of Light, the expectation for the Arcane animated series shouldn't be too high, but it ended up being beyond the expectations of many players. Now it remains to wait for the second and third Act, to find out more about everything that happens in Piltover & Zaun. Here at Showmetech you will find more news about upcoming episodes!
