The developers of Applidium managed to break the security controls that make the Crab work only on Iphone 4s. They also released a set of tools to allow other developers to take advantage of your findings. In theory, this means that access to Siri services could be enabled in other devices iOS – or even on other platformsas the Android. The only restriction is that in order to be able to use the services and tools, you need a unique identifier from an original iPhone 4S, called a UDID.
To crack, it was necessary to find out exactly which protocols Siri uses to communicate with Siri's servers Apple and also how it encodes audio – in this case it was the codec speex, which is open source. So far, Siri hasn't been ported to other devices, but we imagine it's just a matter of time. Knowing Apple, it is also likely that it will only be a matter of time before Apple finds a way to block this method, for example by making a black list of UDIDs that are taking advantage of it.
Have you thought?? Devices running Android 4.0 and Siri??
